Space Mountain/Tomorrowland Transit Authority update...

Did you notice the few pipes in the circle with tons of additional pipe still on the truck? So who knows what they have in mind! :D

I wouldn't read TOO much into that truck full of piping... Remember, they gutted the adjacent bathrooms entirely. There's a lot of plumbing work that will have to be put back *IN* there again over the course of the next month...

I won't jump for joy until those pipes start appearing *inside* the concrete circle.

I agree.

If you go back thru the pix of the Skyway Station work, that truck is in quite a few of them.

Heck, it's a plumbers truck, what should it be loaded with, Turkey Legs?

Also, that lift hill is no where near quiet. lol
Great. Strike another item off the list.
Hmmm...Mutiple Fountains would be interesting. I think that white think might be a pipe?
Light pole or area music speaker feed. The latter would be welcome.
I'm guessing that they're moving the space mountain sign in the little thing in the top left corner so it would be more noticable.
That`s an umbrella in the VIP suite patio garden.

Or maybe that round structure on the ground will be a replica of the original RCA record machine with RCA dog attached. Wow - that is a memory from SM of many decades back when RCA was a sponsor!

Does anyone know if they are on schedule to reopen Space Mountain in late November? At only a month away it just doesn't seem like they are far enough along with the entrance to have it done in time.

I'm just hoping they at least put a fresh coat of White on the mountain itself before opening.

Do you mean the WHOLE mountain? From what I gathered here, that off-white for the bottom part were the original specced colors. That floored me, as I always loved the all-white they had for years and years. I hope they go back to all white!

How difficult can it be to just replace the chain on the lift hill?

Especially if it was its own BGM, like over at DLP's SM.

They have been working since April 17th. Unless they plan to push the refurb further, it should hopefully open on time in Nov.

The chain isn't the problem.
The problem is the anti-rollback mechanisms that keep the trains from...well...rolling back if the train comes loose from the chain.
That's where the clankety-clank noises come from.

How does Everest work exactly? I'm assuming it has anti-rollback mechanisms but not sure how it would exactly work.

Oh, that makes sense. Thanks!

Exactly? Not sure. It's been described to me a couple of ways, but I'm not sure which is correct.
In a nutshell, instead of a traditional anti-rollback system that engages as soon as the train begins to ascend, the one on Everest only engages when there is a need for it.
Interesting how they realized that a tea train wouldn't make that noise so they eliminated it for thematic reasons, but are content to allow a rocket to clickety-clack it's way up a hill?
