I never got into X-Files. Mainly because I heard the final season wasn't that great. Should I still check it out?

X-Files was great. For about 3-4 seasons ... then it really started to implode under the weight of both its own mythology (that seemed to be written on the fly and constantly changing ... just what happened to Mulder's sister?) ... the last season actually wound up being pretty good before a godawful series finale. But it really went from great to bad very quickly.

So ... I would check out seasons 1-4 ... but that's about it.

I can't completely agree with that. The first season was pretty bad aside from a few gems as they were obviously still growing into the characters, the effects were really awful and some of the scripts were just not very interesting. Seasons 2-4 were pretty much excellent aside from a few misfires. After that, well for the 5th and 6th season the mythology episodes definitely implode under their own weight, but there are quite a few standalone eps that are excellent. Even into the seventh season that's true, although David Duchovny was seriously sleepwalking through the part by this time. The eighth season was actually pretty good if you could get over the no Mulder thing. Unfortunately the show didn't have faith in itself without Mulder in the eighth season so they were constantly bringing him back...whether Duchovny was there or not. There were whole episodes revolving around Mulder where the actual character was never on screen! :hurl: The ninth season they finally tried to make the show without Mulder and it was pretty sucessful...until the finale, which was definitely god-awful.

I'm a big X-File fan, so I still will watch any of them, good or bad, but the quality definitely started declining after the fourth season, but there were still some really good ones after that.

Enough with the self-proclaimed experts.

I guess there needs to be a knowledge test of some sort in order to qualify as "expert", because if we just go by years of great interest....ummmm....yeah...looks like I've got about 37 years in.:lookaroun

Hmmm. I agree. If you can get hit on the head with a hammer and answer three tough Disney World questions, and then sing a FULL Disney Attraction song you get a certificate or something.

Here's a page on Walt Dated World. There's a link to an mp3 of the song at the very bottom of that page with lyrics and a version without lyrics in the middle of the page.
