I just want to say with a big grin I`ll be riding RR&R in September. And Manta. And I can`t wait.

And... sticking to the "I hope the refurb finishes on time" instead of "I hope the refurb is dragged out to make it as good as the budget allows it to be" I`ll be on Space Mountain a week after it reopens. Funny how things turn out isn`t it? :D

Yes, the tech for RR&R is amazing. So many innovative (and Disney derived but not followed up) goodies. I wonder how much the ride DVD will be.....

Now, back to the thread. Who`s the nominated photographer for the scaffholding photos?

I already took and posted them... just piles of scafolding outside the building... nothing new (yet)...

keeping an eye on it though.

Wow, pretty cool! Even a smaller version of that would be pretty awesome!

What is it BTW? LEDs? Projections? How do they do that? :veryconfu

Those are in fact 12.5 million LEDs. That version of the Fremont Street Experience was installed in 2004.

Why LEDs instead of a (cheaper) projection system? Compare jumbotrons at outdoor stadiums to say a drive-in movie theater. Jumbotrons are visible, the movie projection not so much. Not saying there isn't a way to get projections to be somewhat visible during the day, but they won't look nearly as good as an LED display.

As far as the $12.3 million budget. No idea where that one came from, but I'd imagine it can't be too far off.

Wow! Makes the 15,000 on the Earth Globe seem like nothing! Pretty neat system all the same. Actually, the more I think about it, that effect would be great for the blue stroble light or re-entrance tunnels. :D

12.3 million is a lot of money considering the attractions... replacing a star projector with a newer modern one won't cost much, after all..

Most steel coasters don't cost but a few million to build, and this is a pre existing support structure and layout... just a retro-fit on the existing tracking...

Honestly, building out and themeing the queues won't cost THAT much either..

Please people, it's not like they have to level the whole damn thing and start over....

So apparently, and I have no idea where this number came from so don't shoot the messenger, this refurb's budget is only 12.3 million.
Guess I better pack my neck brace for the next trip.

Normally I dont like this guy and think he is a tool, but this quote, in this situation is quite fitting. :D

C'mon, Joel...Keep the optimism...:dazzle::lol:
Trust me... i have it, but im an realist too. A nice blend. Soooo, basically, I cut the BS and get to the real truth most of the time and dont waste my time.

It is easier that way to access the situation, make a plan and move on.

:lookaroun

Wow. that sounded super serious. :D
