Pardon me if its been mentioned in this now epic thread, but...

Is WDI installing equipment that can do seasonal themed overlays into this Florida Space Mountain rehab? Al Lutz has confirmed today that Disneyland is getting a Halloween version of Space Mountain this September called "Ghost Galaxy".

Will there be the ability to do seasonal overlays for WDW's Space Mountain when it's done? Are they adding in that equipment and infrastructure with this rehab? Or maybe even just change out the music for Grad Nites like they do at Disneyland?

Good to hear DL is getting that overlay. I hear it's amazing.
Anyhoo....I haven't heard anything about MK's SM getting that treatment or capability. This is TDO/MK management we're talking about....

Oh, that's too bad.

Not that I expected them to do Disneyland's Ghost Galaxy this fall or anything, but I thought maybe they were installing the audio/video/spefx equipment in now so that it would be easier and cheaper to do that sort of thing in the near future. Like Grad Nite's 2010, Halloweentime 2010, a special Back To The 70's Disco 40th Anniversary overlay in 2011.

Okay, maybe not the Disco thing.

But with this One Disney mantra, you would think that a new offering at Disneyland would also be used at WDW. WDW finally got Disneyland's Halloweentime park decorations last year, as an example.

Well....I haven't heard anything about it, but that doesn't mean much with SM.
Honestly, with MK...they would likely only use the overlay during Mickey's Not So Scary anyhow, instead of a full time change for two months.
We know how WDW isn't fond of seasonal ride overlays....

This sounds really cool. I wonder what additional things will be done for this overlay. Chances are our Space mountain won't get any holiday treatment. Our Haunted Mansion refurb didn't.

Come on, Lee. We all know seasonal overlays destroy people's vacations!

Don't feel bad, it looks like track to me as well...I mean why in the world would they use a crane to bring in a ladder when a couple of guys could just carry it in?

Maybe they had to hoist it near the top of the track, and went through the roof or something?

what decorations are you talking about? mk's halloween decos looked about the same to me last year?

Back in 2006 DLR finally got into the act of Halloween, with HalloweenTime, and came out with these decorations-

While in 2006 this is what MK had-

Then in 2007 MK had very similar yet slightly different decorations-

Sorry, I meant in '07 not '08. Where does the time go?! :)

nemofinder22 has very kindly displayed the proper timeline for WDW getting a version of the HalloweenTime decorations that Disneyland first got in '06.

One major thing an attraction would need for an overlay is audio.....

BTW, if it was a ladder going up to the penthouse then it`s the norm. There in only maintainence ladder access from inside the mountain to that level - you can`t carry much up to the roof from inside.

Thank goodness there was a logical explanation. I was sure there was.

It sure looked silly, though!

SM refurb

I have been reading a lot about the SM reburb. going on as we speak, but... what exactly are they doing? Are they just giving it a facelift or are they changing anything on the ride? Is it going to be anything like the Paris SM? Does anyone know?

Very interesting...As always, it amazes me how DL gets all these refurbs, and plusses at the bat of an eye, where we struggle for it. I don't get it.

Goodness, that's frighteningly awesome.

Almost Star Trek-ish.

.

I don't get it either. Our park has way more guests, resorts, and dining places. Plus they still get some good companies to step in and provide things. I also doubt Disney pays it's employees enough to warrant a major loss of money. It must be management.
