Very interesting...As always, it amazes me how DL gets all these refurbs, and plusses at the bat of an eye, where we struggle for it. I don't get it.

The folks at DL used to say the same thing but in the opposite way. Something like this....

"As always, it amazes me how WDW gets all these refurbs, and plusses at the bat of an eye, where Disneyland struggles for it. I don't get it."

Californians are so dramatic.

In a perfect world, we should both be getting new stuff.

I think that would spread WDI too thin and we would get even more phased refurbs. The pendulum is about to swing back to WDW. Fact.

Not fact. Not yet. When they announce things, THEN fact. When they do refurbs on a regular basis, then fact.

Nice avvie, BTW...

...Next trip, I'll thank Sheriff Donald myself.;)

Spreading WDI thin has nothing to do with it. They would love to get the work.
It's spreading Rasulo's wallet too thin that is the problem.

If they were spending at WDW as they are spending at DCA and overseas, then people would complain that Disney was not being financially responsible during a deepening recession. Everyone keeps saying Rasulo is too "cheap" while money is being poured into DCA by the tonnage. And Carsland broke ground just two days ago. The Red Trolly support facilities have also started construction. Something is contradictory here.

Not me.
I say spend now, refurb now, and be ready to capitalize when the economy turns.
There is plenty of money in Disney's coffers to have major projects underway worldwide.

To me, fixing DCA just equates to Disney paying Stupid Tax.

I agree with you 100% here. I think it's the way to go. But none of us has institutional investors breathing down our necks on a daily basis, fortunately. The company is preforming very well all things considered, and I think WDW will benefit in the long run. Stay tuned.

Yes, I would have thought you, of all people, would have gotten the point of the "joke". :brick:

Oh no, I got it alright.

Anyways, I'd rather WDW be in the red for a little while because that means they are spending money on keeping the important things steady and in check while pursuing aggressive expansion.

WDW will never close. Ever. Florida would pour millions of dollars into the Company before they let Florida's largest employer and the main reason people come to this state shut down. Even Universal has a vested interest in keeping Disney's gates open. They are never, ever in any threat of closing at any time.

I've never been of the thought it would close. I could see, in a worst case scenario, WDW having sections sold off to raise cash however. That has already happened in ways the average guest doesn't see. The one thing I never see happening under any circumstance is TWDC losing control of the MK, MK resorts or Fort Wilderness (so as to maintain the buffer zone around the MK).

The land sold off was to the East I believe...pushing the center of WDW ,West, close to the the Land Pavilion.

Or viseversa.

They have sold of several chunks over the years. But haven't heard of it happening lately so if the economy recovers maybe we have seen the last of that practice. Wasn't the Epcot Plaza the center of WDW or something? Didn't they have a marker? I wonder if that was moved like you suggest.

I was under the impression that the land that was sold was also part of the land that had no intention of developing, is that the case?

I think it was in the center of Innoventions Plaza/CommuniCore Court. Then it shifted over to the Land. Don't know if they have a new marker, but I think I know where it is.:D I always like to stand there and drink in the surroundings.

*misses FW West*
