The problem is that way too many guests would come to the park and say "What happened to Tomorrowland?" It could work in Tokyo where they've grown up differently with Disney, it would never work in one of the state-side parks.

Easy. Just say it was moved to Epcot and it's called "Future World" now.

That's what I say when I go to Tomorrowland now.

I know we always use the  icon around here but this made me literally burst out laughing. Very good unkadug.

The future will be cluttered with overgrown plants, and faded tarps. Great.:lookaroun:lol:

Who would have ever thought they would go back to the original color scheme for UoE? As optimistic as I am about the return of a more EPCOT Center-ish park, I NEVER would have thought that could happen. A trend or a fluke?

I think it is a signal they are looking back to 1982 to reimagine Epcot's future. And you can just tell Eddie Sotto senses that Future World is on the verge of a comeback. It will happen. Tarps and icky plantz are not futuristic.

Yep, You got it :)
good deal.

Martin, that extra section looks like a addition the the mountain after some miscalculations. It looks like one of the engineer's slide rule was a bit off... and when they were putting together the building with contents inside, they said, "oooh, it looks like we need about an extra 10-15 feet of building. Ok, who screwed up.

I know that it is meant to be, just looks funny from aerial perspective (i would have never known it was there without aerial viewing).

Yeah, it is a bit odd. The mountain and railroad are in the right place so I guess it was a planned extention. Well, I know it was but you know what I mean. I imagine since it is only the lower level that needed extra room and only in this small area it didn`t make sense to increase the circumfrance of the entire mountain for this one little bit.

Was it on the original construction drawings? Or the design drawings? It's certainly strange looking.

True. That is what i figured.

One question: What is in the blue section if the pink section is the lovely arcade? To be honest, I really never venture back in there.....

The blue section is the video arcade. Pink is merch.

Indeed it was. Way back in mid 1973.

Has it always been like that? I could have sworn playing games in the atrium while waiting for it to stop raining several years ago...

There are a few machines along the store (arched roof) walls, and a row of them at the far (railroad) end of the store as well as the game-fest in the rear building. See my SM2008 vid for footage (shameless plug but I did the edit for reference :D )

I definitely remember going in the late 90's and the whole of the power plant was packed with arcade machines. Nowadays of course, you would be hard pressed to pack a broom closet with new arcade cabinets.

They probably just started removing them as they needed repair/service and just never replaced them as there is nothing else to replace them with. That and more merch space is just as good to them I think.

If only they would actually put Space Mountain merch in there...

Anyone ever notice the TTA workshop bump out on the north side of Space Mt? They did a good job of hiding this one. How about the external ladder to the crown.
