To all that come to this happy place, Welcome!

Some people (and places) are worth melting for - Florida in late May /early June to visit Disney World is one of those places

Yes - it is time to head south again - this time it is just Tricia and I. We need time to de-stress from a very busy few months because...

Cassie and Shane got married!!! On May 4th!!! - May the Force be with you!!

We did a similar getaway in November 2019 after my older daughter Stephanie's wedding

(Yes - both daughters are married and moved out - the nest is empty!!)

Trip Details:

Monday May 29 - Sunday June 4
Yacht Club
Flying from Toronto Canada
4 days at the parks - not visiting on the travel days or on Thursday June 1)
Plan is to do my first round of golf (only 9 holes) on June 1
Goal is to ride Tron at least once and try to do GOG again - but otherwise rides are not the priority

Meet up with Dave and his wife and niece
Quick visit - hoping for a longer one in future - maybe a round of golf @Loco_driver ??

It was way too short of a meet! We will definitely have to have a proper visit in the future. A round of golf would be great, I can teach you how to curse in Texan!

Love all the Magic meet ups on this trip! How wonderful that you got to finally meet Tuvalu after all these years of posts and messaging on the boards! I have to say that view that you have at The Yacht Club would be hard to pull myself away from some days!

That's a great tale about your meeting @TrolleyFollower91 and @Tuvalu. I sense that they will.continue to be unicorns for me because of our travel.dates (Sept for me).

Great to see all.the WDWMagic meet ups across all the trip reports.

Your time will come - just try to be patient

and in terms of the meetups ? - you would almost think we planned it....

Day 4 - Thursday June 1 - non park day

Tricia and I decided to do an non park day part way through the trip
She thought we would be relaxing - I had other plans....

First up was my first golfing experience at WDW. We had purchased the Park Hopper Plus tickets that included the ability to play 9 holes as part of the ticket.

I was concerned about gettng a good tee time (as a single golfer) but Tricia agreed to sign up both of us and she would just enjoy the walk, This worked out well because I was able to book Oak Trail at the 30 day mark and got an 8:30 tee time.

Here are some pics from the morning

Rental clubs ( I am going to say they were around $35) - newer and better than my set!!!

Rental bag and push cart - Oak Trail is a walking only course so getting out early before it gets too hot is a good idea

Hope so!

Overall it was a good course - not too challenging but not too simple
I shot a 49 - no bad considering it took until the last hole to figure out how to putt with a new putter

And I broke even on golf balls!! I lost 4 of the ones I brought with me - they gave me a sleeve of Taylor Made golf balls and Tricia found one for me on the course!!.

Tricia did not swing a club but she did putt on a few of the greens

and some other turkeys were on the course too

We went back to the YC for some lunch from the market and went very briefly to the pool.
My knee was not behaving so I was hobbling quite a bit on this day

Then we headed over to the Poly for a special meet up.
(this one was planned)

We had a wonderful visit with @Tuvalu , @TrolleyFollower91 , @wdisney9000 and Zelda!!!

We all took the monorail to MK - Keith and Zelda kept riding
The rest of us heading to the buses
It was hard to say goodbye

but it wasn't goodbye , it was ...

Tricia and I went back and chilled before going to Flying Fish for dinner
It was raining on the way over

T had the salmon and I had the chicken

I know @littleroo will not agree with me but we were not impressed this time
Our server was way over the top - pushy and trying to impress us with how she would talk to the kitchen and make up a unique appetizer just for us - way to pushy

The food was good but not great - and not cheap - so therefore not a good value - which makes it the last time we will go there for awhile.

Early night and got a good night sleep

I will touch on this whenever I do a wrap up! It all depends on who waits on you! I deal with this on a daily basis in my personal life especially with my job. One person can make a huge difference and we found this often in Disney.
I am sorry you had had a bad experience there, especially based on the pricing!

We had a fantastic meal.at Flying Fish on New Years Day. Literally the only drawback to it was the pushy server.

Every wine I ordered (a sparkler with my app, a red with my entree), he would try to upsell me on a "better" wine, even after I told.him that I was familiar with both wines that I ordered and they were favorites. One of which I've only ever been able to get at WDW (Black Pearl, a South African Shiraz by a lady winemaker).

I felt the same way about Flying Fish in 2017. The prices are so high that if the food is anything but excellent it's a disappointment. We previously went in 2011 and enjoyed it immensely.

Would love to play a round of golf with you in WDW! I'll bring Sterg along.

We had a bad server experience years ago at Flying Fish which honestly ruined the dinner experience for us, and we haven't been back since which is a shame because we stay at The Boardwalk Villas often and it would be so convenient to dine there but for the prices they charge, we always feel that you get a better overall dining experience at California Grill.

I do not think it is for sale but based on your TR you could rent a truck and show up in the middle of the night and...

the other quotes below will back this up - but I do not think it is a singularity - it is a systemic issue with this restaurant - they train their servers to up sell at all times.

Day 5 - Friday June 2 - DHS day

We broke down and bought Genie + on this day - and it was a waste of money - I will explain as we go...

We took the boat from the YC to the parks
This one has a time stamp of 7:20am

We were let in around 7:40ish for a 8am early entry

Everyone says to left at Disney to avoid the crowds....

But we decided to go...

and walked down Sunset Blvd.

Tricia's favorite ride is Tower so we rode it a couple of times

and I think I like this ride (and so does Tricia!)

We used the Genie to get a Mickey and Minnie time and then went to Toy Story Land

Slinky was down - ALL MORNING!!! - so that was a no go

Decided to get a little manic....
