To all that come to this happy place, Welcome!

Some people (and places) are worth melting for - Florida in late May /early June to visit Disney World is one of those places

Yes - it is time to head south again - this time it is just Tricia and I. We need time to de-stress from a very busy few months because...

Cassie and Shane got married!!! On May 4th!!! - May the Force be with you!!

We did a similar getaway in November 2019 after my older daughter Stephanie's wedding

(Yes - both daughters are married and moved out - the nest is empty!!)

Trip Details:

Monday May 29 - Sunday June 4
Yacht Club
Flying from Toronto Canada
4 days at the parks - not visiting on the travel days or on Thursday June 1)
Plan is to do my first round of golf (only 9 holes) on June 1
Goal is to ride Tron at least once and try to do GOG again - but otherwise rides are not the priority

We talked about everything - our shared love of Disney and Disneyland in Anaheim in particular
Their love of cruise ships (which due to motion sickness we do not have) and almost everything else you can think of.
Great people!
I have been DM'ing Sean for over 5 years - the number of times he has called me a hoser and made fun of milk being sold in a bag is too many to mention.
We hung out for over an hour! Here they are taking time out there busy lives - so gracious !
Here is to hoping for more meetups - maybe even in Cali one day!!

We had a good discussion about the merits of Popeyes Chicken vs Chick fil A.
Sean was pretty adement about Popeyes superiority and thought I was going to a concourse that had one.
Alas we had to settle for...and of course I am joking - I liked the chicken sandwich here very much.

To be fair, 95% of my Maple Leaf knowledge comes from Strange Brew and The Trailer Park Boys so it was very responsible of me to only throw "hoser" around considering what I learnt from TPBs

Also, never to busy to hang out with such cool people! I'm glad we were able to catch that earlier flight so we had more time to talk. We are hopeful for a future Anaheim meetup at the best park ;-).

Before I get roasted for claiming Popeye's is better than Jesus's chicken, I was speaking specifically of the spicy chicken sandwich. There is no contest, Popeye's, and even KFC, have a superior spicy sandwich. Now, when it comes to the OG, Truett's creation can't be beat.

Finally, I've got great news for you! Now you've got another reason to visit the peach state, we've got a Timmy Horton's opening up! So now you can get your double double and timbits while talking about the finer points of dairy product packaging with myself and @wdisney9000 .

Looking up and seeing you walk in that first night as you gave us a big wave was TRULY a highlight of my trip! Even Zelda could sense the emotions of the moment and got excited.
We could have sat there for hours and talked, but we were both definitely pretty tuckered out, and Zelda as well. I think she fell asleep lol.

Glad you enjoyed the side car! C can't wait for us all to.have one together!

Day 2 - May 30 - Start in Epcot

Woke up relatively early and enjoyed the view from the balcony
Some of you might remember on previous reports we usually had a stow away who hammed it up and got into a lot of pictures...

Well this time Tigger stayed home with Christmas Stitch - but a new friend was "found" last night and he is along for the ride
(had to use the phone mount tripod for a chair in this shot - did not want him to fall from the fourth floor)

And Tricia got to meet Keith and Zelda - sort of - from our balcony
He and Zelda were out for a morning walk!!

We tried to get BG for Guardians ( or should I say have @MiniMax get us one!! from her apartment in Canada!)
Panic set in when she contacts me just before 7am and says

"you do not have any park reservations!"

So the window was gone - I went down to the front desk and a wonderful CM named Mark helped me.

Not only did he reset all of the reservations he also (with help from the back room) got us anytime BG pass for GOG
AND an anytime LL for Flight of Passage in AK!! He had asked me our plan and I mentioned we were hopping to AK in the afternoon.

We walked to Epcot and got in easily ( I had to do bag check - forgot to take my sunglasses case out)

Join the crowd in line for Ratatouille - were let in early - walk onto ride at 8:30 (start of early entry time)

Fun dark ride but not worth a long wait - would only rope drop it from the IG
(same thoughts I had from last October)

After the Rat we looked around the France pavilion for a bit

Then we walked around WS to Norway - we took the road less travelled on this day - it was empty , quiet and wonderful

Frozen showed a 25 min wait but we were off at 9:25am

Rode Soarin with little wait ( 18 min from walking into line and getting off (and the ride is approx 4:45min)
We rode on the far right for the first time and saw the bendy Eifel tower and messed up Taj Mahal
Tricia was not aware of the effect (i was prepared for it). We normally wait for the middle section.

Rode Living with the Land with no wait

Then did Nemo (again with no wait)

We walked past SSE but it was backed up so we used our GOG passes
And we got Conga

And I was not doing well but held it in ( the signs of protein spills from others in the unload area did not help)

(do not have the ride photo yet - have to sort through PP and decide if I want to purchase it)

T grabbed an ice coffee at Starbucks and then we shopped for a bit

Saw these and loved them but did not purchase

Did a mobile order for Regal Eagle and walked over to the USA pavilion
Grabbed this pic that I had missed earlier in the day

I got the pulled pork platter and Tricia had a salad with chicken
Really tasty but the portion was not as big as i had hoped for.

You certainly have had an incredible morning at Epcot especially starting off with the lovely CM, Mark, who bestowed you with the free LL for GOG and Flight of Passage!!! I wish I could get my DH to get up early enough to make early entry because you really get so much done! Your meal at Regal Eagle looks delicious!

I wish I could get my DH to get up early enough to make early entry because you really get so much done! Your meal at Regal Eagle looks delicious!

The food was delicious - and I don't want to offend - but I expected a bigger portion - something we normally see at the Florida park

Sounds like a great Epcot morning!

It was quite efficient and relaxing - and not too hot either!

He gave a lot of credit to the person in the back that helped him but I know he was the one that asked for it to happen!

So after lunch we walked toward the IG

Quick stop in Japan to see the Torii gate and the new water garden

Kermit and Miss Piggy

Stopped in France for my favourite slushie

The beast enjoyed a sip of the slushie too

Tricia went for a different one and loved it

Continued on to the United Kingdom - made me miss my friend @Longers who we met last October

Another F&G shot in UK - I really enjoyed the festival because you got the beautiful gardens & the food/drink booths
Though we thought the food options were a lot less than Food and Wine in October
Someone who goes more often might be able to confirm this observation

We meet the HAWC (let me know when you figure it out)

Headed back to the IG to meet T who was shopping

We left the park and walk back to the Yacht via the Beach Club

Day 3 cont'd
Back in the room for maybe an hour
Tricia did some yoga to stretch out the muscles after a morning of Disney walking

I stretched out in a different way

Then we caught a bus to AK

Shopping was the first order of business
I think someone compensated for something by buying the girls a lot of presents....

Did not buy this one - have not found a bucket hat that I like AND fits me head

Its like an orange on a toothpick, its a huge noggin, its a planetoid , it has its own weather system....

Next up was Nomad Lounge - a favorite of ours - that some think is a hidden gem( @littleroo )
We had a wait for awhile so not sure I agree with her!!

Fav drink - Lamu Libation - for me and a glass of Pinot for Tricia

We had a lively group beside us - 3 adults and a little girl who was probably around 5
She had a cup of ice and accidently knocked it off the table and it splash my leg with a little water
The mom was very apologetic - but I told it felt refreshing on a hot day

But told them not to tell anyone else because Disney will find a way to charge me for it!!
We had a good laugh!

This is the Flower and Garden Festival. Emphasis on Flowers, not food.
The food booths are a recent addition, once Disney realized the $$ to be made.

Day 2 cont'd
We ordered (and devoured) an order of sliders w/ yucca fries - and then ordered more yucca fries - they were sooo good.

Then we headed over to Pandora to use our complimentary ILL for Flight of Passage

T has not been riding it lately but gave it a go - she was OK after but it did impact her

The plan was to eat at the Canteen but with bellies full of slider and fries we really were not that hungry yet
So we headed out but stopped here first

we left disappointed - not a single fur ball in sight

We went to Ale and Compass and had dinner

Salad for T

Burger for me

The burger was good but not the best burger ever

Met up again with Keith again in the lounge
This is the night we had the Sidecar in honor of C who was back home with a sick cat
And then a screwdriver before calling it a night
Keith and Zelda went in search of food when the server told us the kitchen was closed ( see @wdisney9000 TR for details)

And this time I was more awake so I picked up the drink tab!!!


Next up - Magic Kingdom
