Trip Report Some people are worth melting for - A Max Trip Report

To all that come to this happy place, Welcome!

Some people (and places) are worth melting for - Florida in late May /early June to visit Disney World is one of those places

Yes - it is time to head south again - this time it is just Tricia and I. We need time to de-stress from a very busy few months because...

Cassie and Shane got married!!! On May 4th!!! - May the Force be with you!!

We did a similar getaway in November 2019 after my older daughter Stephanie's wedding

(Yes - both daughters are married and moved out - the nest is empty!!)

Trip Details:

Monday May 29 - Sunday June 4
Yacht Club
Flying from Toronto Canada
4 days at the parks - not visiting on the travel days or on Thursday June 1)
Plan is to do my first round of golf (only 9 holes) on June 1
Goal is to ride Tron at least once and try to do GOG again - but otherwise rides are not the priority

One thing I forgot to mention from Day 1

We got up really early (as i mentioned) and when I came downstairs Tricia asked if I did the Wordle yet
I said no and that I would probably do it at the airport when we were waiting for boarding

She stressed that I should do it now - she knows my standard first word - so I did....

Got it in 1 !! at 1:42 am

Very cool for the first day of a Disney trip!!

I do think there are more food booths at the F&W versus the F&G but like you, I feel that you get the beautiful flowers/topiaries along with some good food booths which beats out the F&W in my book! It certainly looks like you had a great time at AK in the afternoon so I just might have to give the Tambu Lounge a chance on my upcoming October trip with all the recommendations on the boards! Perfect way to end such a perfect day having drinks with C again in the Lounge!

Nice! I got my first one guesser recently after using the same starting word forever...AGILE. I have since changed it in hopes of lightning striking again.

No planned trips right now but hopefully someday in the future....

Day 3 - Wednesday May 31 - Magic Kingdom
Cassie and Shane came through with both a BG for the morning and an ILL for the evening on TRON

Grabbed the bus at 7:20am

Checked out the hub and fire house

MK was already busy - we waited just over the bridge near the entrance to FL

Oswald liked the photo shoot opportunity

Rope dropped Pooh

Then went under the sea

Day 3 cont'd - May 31 - MK

Then we went on Small World and got crammed into the front row - not cool - very little leg room

The boat did not seem to enthusiastic - the guy in the Orioles hat was probably ready to call me Number 1

Tricia's favorite part is when the can can dancers say "ooo la la !!!"

Our BG was approaching so we walked across the park and stopped in front of the castle

Day 3 cont'd - MK

But first we had to ride the TTA - the ramp was shutdown but the ride was worth the climb

It is nice to stretch out and enjoy the views

Space was down so we got some unique looks inside

I took a video - Here are some screen captures

Oswald liked Tomorrowland (how do I know you ask? well he is smiling)

Walked over to Tron even though we had not been called yet

We walked all the way up but it was really loud (I know I am getting old but after watching one train go by the thrill of that view did not counter balance the loud noises - kicked into Safety Manager mode and wondered if I should be wearing hearing protection at that point - I wonder if Disney does those checks for its CM?

Day 3 contd - MK - Tron

The wait from the BG call to getting on the ride was a little over an hour - which is too long for me - I do not know if it went down (did not notice) but I think that the VQ should be quicker than an hour.

No spoilers - the ride was good - a little short - and I was bent over too much so I was not comfortable- a fiend told me later I should have sat more straight up - which is what I did in SDL - so I should have know that

We went to Columbia Harbour House for the first time and really enjoyed the food
We had to order at the register to get our food allergies addressed - it took longer than usually but it was worth it
T got the Salmon and i went for the lobster roll

The upstairs view (thank you @Tuvalu and @TrolleyFollower91 ) was great - got to watch a parade after I finished my lunch

Walked back to Main street and did some shopping
This one was tempting but I resisted buying another mug

This one was for Cassie - we had gone to GOG 3 together

IYKYK moment

Left the park around 1pm and went back to the Yacht for an extended afternoon break
We were going to stay up later than usually and go back to MK for extra hours.

I've always loved the TTA -- it's calm, with cool breezes, and a great view of MK. Never timed it, but it seems like it's a big longer ride than many other attractions. (As for the ramp, that goes down fairly often, at least in my experiences there. )

That's my favorite QS in MK. I always choose the upstairs seating, because it's usually quiet up there, and I like the view out the windows. (I also have meals at non-peak times, so that helps to lower the crowd levels.)

Regarding the Peoplemover/TTA ramp:

It is intentionally shut off to help with capacity management. It is more likely to be working during periods of lighter guest flow.

The front row on IASM is tough on the legs! It's always so fun to see the inside of SM all lit up when the ride goes down when traveling on the Peoplemover! CHH is our favorite CS for lunch at MK and we enjoy sitting upstairs in the same spot with the great view for people watching. The first time I rode TRON I felt the same way about bending over too much but on my second ride, I corrected my position and thought it was fine!

Day 3 cont'd - A late(ish) night at MK
This was waiting for us when we returned to the room

Beautiful view from the balcony

We chilled in the room , napped and then headed out to Grand Floridian Cafe for a 6:40 dinner

Arrived around 6pm and wondered how big the bird must be.

Checked in early (around 6:20 and then waited well past our time )
Nice views outside

Finally seated and the service was slow - the server was hustling so i assume it was understaffed in both dining room and kitchen

Appetizer at 7:13

Burgers showed up @7:34pm !

Took the monorail to MK
We went to Philharmagic first (since we have not seen the additional Coco scene) no pictures - enjoyed it

Camped out for Happily Ever After (with a few thousand of my closet friends)

View was decent and I really enjoyed the FW and projections on the castle

Meet up with Dave and his wife and niece
Quick visit - hoping for a longer one in future - maybe a round of golf @Loco_driver ??
Dave and I have been chatting on this forum for a few years and it was great to meet the big guy!!

Day 3 cont'd
We had a TRON ILL but it was not called yet so we did the TTA one more time

Then over to TRON at night!! - it is impressive yes - but I think Shanghai is better because of the layout

We decided to ride the car at the back and enjoyed the ride - next time we will go back the bikes and just sit up straighter

After TRON I had a mission - a friend told me she was in MK and was riding COP
T and I walked over and .....

I saw my target and swooped in

33 pages!
Those pages of messages include some snark but also a lot more stuff - really getting to know a person and their family - becoming a real friend!!
We had a meet planned in 2020 that did not happen
But this one did!!!

Tu and Em went to ride Tron and T and I went to ride Big Thunder
It was raining during the ride - not cool - the rain drops sort of hurt!!

We rode HM and then we were done - it was getting late and the rain was a downer

That's a great tale about your meeting @TrolleyFollower91 and @Tuvalu. I sense that they will.continue to be unicorns for me because of our travel.dates (Sept for me).
