I like the color one the best. The light to darks on the water and in the sky are really nice and look best in color! :)

Josh...its a very good idea to date and sign EVERYTHING you do, digital or hand drawn. You will realize more when your in college how important it is... And i also notice your pastel work is getting there! Keep it up...

Mitch..nice work! I hope you covered your scanner bed with clear plastic wrap before scanning the pastels! You may want to try scanning it at a larger resolution and then reducing it..it usually makes a "cleaner" scan that way...Also..your scanner program should have a "britness/contrast" slider in which you can make such adjustments on the fly ....

Scary isnt it how much I know about this crap eh?

Right now I have been trying to work on 1.) Sculpting (super sculpty...eww) and 2.) Airbrushing....both are not exactly going very well..but if I had more time...id be able to do better I'm sure.

I think if this doesnt work out im going to move on to glass/matte painting (even tho its all done digitally now).

Mitch, you have a digi cam? If you're in the right light a pic can come out alot better than a scan. I used to scan everything but I like the camera better.

Ehhhhh...yes and no...

To have "the right" light you have 2 options:: Set up a light rig (meaning you cant use any "yellow" lights) OR

Wait until noon..go outside...put the art on the floor.and take pics..

both are good, but usually scanning can give good results with a bit of adjustment (as you will see a bit later after i adjust mitchells artwork)

Nahhh I go by whatever light is in the room. The flash on my digi cam will compensate. Most (notice I said most) of the pics of my art work come out great. Scans pick up all sorts of imperfections like smuges lol. All the pics I've posted in this thread and my other were taken with my digi cam. I think they all look pretty good and alot closer to what they really look like when my scanner pics it up. The ideal light for taking pics of things like drawings though are overcasts days...I had to wait for the perfect day to take the pics for my portfolio slides. I did em' in the greenhouse at school. :)

Hey Cal.... great pics!

I always read thread like this with great interest, due to the fact that I have difficulty in drawing a straight line with a ruler :(

I know that Now & Josh are "arty" I am sure they are pleased to have another in the ranks :)
