Yeah, but you stick it in Louisiana and they ruin the EPCOT-esqueness about it in a second...

Strange this comes up.........a few weeks ago, one of my customers, who lives in Denham Springs LA, told me that Disney bought 500 acres in Satsuma, LA. I figured it couldn't be true so never brought it up here. But now...........hmmm

You are a New Orleanian, right??? Even just a hop, skip and jump away, I don't think I would head that way either. Now, for Blue Bayou... Lol Just Kidding, seriously!
I live in metairie..and not that happy with it..lol
Obviously you do not respect the state you've grown up in. A shame really.
No..not really..Not a Louisiana fan at all..never have been and you knew that..

Not ashamed to say it either..of the few states I have visited Louisiana is by far the worst place...like I said..IMO..

Except for a few things here..Saints, LSU and the food..nothing else here is worth it..
The same with Florida! Miamians are brutal, for example. Orlando is no better.

All depends on the management.
Well, and that is what I think the problem would be..same thing if they rebuilt the Six Flags here..management and the employees would be from here and that is where it starts the downhill trend..

Must be different for a local. I would love to visit Louisiana. Rich in history, culture....

And what of the Six Flags? Is it the employees or the people in the park?

& the proposal is to build this place less than 5 miles from the largest oil refinery in the country in downtown Baton Rouge where parking is already a problem. The land is right next to a riverboat casino.

I forwarded this discussion to the mayor. I hope he chimes in.

I like Mandeville, join me. A few houses in my neighborhood for sale. We can have Disney dates.

I was born and raised here and I can't say that I really have a state "pride". I don't even care about LSU or sports. There, I said it. I have lived in other states and it's all the same. Good points and bad points.

For right now, I figure just stay where my family is for my girls.

Been to Downtown Baton Rouge lately? It's beautiful. The restoration they have done there is amazing. It's clean and pretty. The park would be in this area. Plus it's right by some very historic areas (the capital, original LSU Baton Rouge Campus, etc) Not to mention everything else Baton Rouge has to offer. Also, you cannot go wrong with the Audobon Society running the place. The Zoo and Aquarium are in great shape (last time I went).

Perkin's Rowe puts Downtown Disney to shame.

The same people who run Blue Bayou and Dixie Landings would be running Jazzland if they get the chance. They've done pretty well in Baton Rouge...they seem to be "it getters".

All you are doing here is perpuating negative stereotypes of Louisiana for the world to see. You're doing the state you call home a great disservice. If it's as bad as you say, you should want to help improve it.

It is rich in history and culture..and in my opinion everyone should visit Louisiana..New Orleans especially at least once...

For me though living here my whole life..I am not a fan of it...and a big part of it is the people....Like I said..that is me..and everyone has their opinion on everything.

As for the Six Flags thing..if it is like it was when it was here before..it is the employees if they are hired from here and the people in the park..like I said..they do not care and have no respect for anything.

So wouldn't a project such as this give economic benefit to the area you are concerned about, and thus improve it?

That's Six Flag's deal...They should hire better people!

If it was not for my husbands job and I had to live here I would choose Mandeville over where I live now..and where I live is a really nice area..Old Metairie..but Mandeville is really nice.

Well you know if it does does come to happen and it does great then that is wonderful..but Louisiana gives itself it's own bad name and always has...

We just will always disagree on this..you are proud to live here and I am not..

I know a good boat captain in the area:lookaroun Too bad there were no boats there :(

This proposed park is more about education. How could anything bad come from that?

As for the people in Louisiana, most are great, nice, and friendly people. I guess it is what you make of it.
