Sneaky CM's at Toy Story Midway Mania

Maybe a guest tried to get out of a ride vehicle or throwing things onto the ride track, and was caught immediately, causing the ride to go down. Then the CMs would be like "Really?! Already?! Those darn guests!"

And I thought this thread was going to be about how they post a 120 minute wait time 5 minutes before closing.

Maybe, but I think it's the limited ride options of Hollywood Studios that makes it so popular, not the ride itself.

That would be a fair statement if the ride were merely "popular," but the ride is, in fact, "the most popular."

I can't fathom why people would rather ride TSMM once rather than ToT four times in the same span, but their reasoning can't simply be chalked up to there not being better options available.

If you're in line and there's a wait that goes past closing, they don't kick you out of line. As long as you're queued up before 9:00 PM (or whatever closing happens to be), you'll be allowed to ride.

Because they don't enjoy drops, but do enjoy target shooting!:p

"Because they don't enjoy exquisite theming, an original story, state-of-the-art special effects, and dedicated cast members, but do enjoy video games."

Allow me to modify your modification of the original reply:

"Because they have kids." :animwink::wave:

I enjoy both - can you believe it? I am not a video game enthusiast either. That being said, if it was just me, Tower of Terror wins hands down.

Don't get me wrong, I love TSMM as well as ToT. But to spend 120 minutes in line rather than 30, the ride for the former had better blow the latter out of the water. Not to mention, DHS is the best park at WDW to use fastpass. There are a ton of shows to kill time until your fastpass window, so I just can't fathom standing in a queue that long.

i kind of can't wait for the inevitable day they choose to upgrade or change buzz and people will bemoan the new version for lacking the charm of the old.

let me say this: i'm an uber competitive person and i really enjoy buzz and TSM. but i actually prefer buzz to TSM because of the little quirks and it's imperfections. for some reason, i just really love it, shortcomings and all.

I guess that's why the great movie ride and the backlot tour have equally long lines as tsm. There's not a lot to do so they line up for both of those as well.

Yeah kids love a backlot tour....:snore:

TSMM is the only ride for most small kids, and/or family friendly.

Limited ride options, as I said.

Which means, I guess, that you never go on "that ride," because it hasn't been a walk-on since it opened, except maybe during a hurricane.

There may not be a single attraction in all of WDW which is more popular, especially when compared to its riders-per-hour ratio.

:shrug:We've never gotten a chance to be on the ride, by the time we get to the ride, (10 a.m.) all the fast passes are gone, and the wait time is wll over an hour and a half, and this is in Late November the first week in December. :xmas:

I realize that. My point was sometimes they will artificially inflate the wait time, especially near closing. Can't blame them for wanting to get out of work at a reasonable time.

Some people's distaste for drops will override their ability to enjoy "exquisite theming, an original story, state-of-the-art special effects, and dedicated cast members."

It's pretty popular at California Adventure, too. I think it's a great ride, very interactive. Am I crazy to think there are many quality rides at MGM (it's really tough to just give in)? We easily make an entire day out of it with riding Toy Story only once.

You are so right! I'd have visited TOT if I had known more about the chicken exit. Drops make me ill, while spinning is thrilling - go figure! (Tea Cups here I come)
The rest of my family rode while I shopped...
