I just wanted to bring this up because It's kinda odd but no one in my family ever smoked but when I went to Disney parks in the 90s everyone smoked everywhere. I eventually associated the smell of cigarettes with Disney World and It could have alone got me addicted to cigarettes if they didn't scare me with all those creepy commercials.

It interfered with the scents they pump into main street so there's that.

It's definitely interesting how things have changed, especially with the smoking ban at Disneyland and Disney World. I remember the days when smoking was everywhere in the parks. Now, it's a different experience altogether. Have you noticed any vape shop near me lately? It seems like vaping has become more common as an alternative to smoking, especially in places like Disney where smoking is restricted.

People still smoke/vape wherever they want to at WDW. CM's don't enforce the 'ban'.

What is wild is the parks with security checks as intense as the major ones like Disney and Universal could rid this very quickly for most.

They don't let you bring selfie sticks or squirt guns/sci fi blaster toys, and many other things on park property, so the same could be done for the machines sensing vapes and not allowing lighters or matches when they catch them.

Since you’re allowed to exit the park to smoke that wouldn’t really work.

If you had to go from Harambe to the front of the park, to outside it to go back to find family in Harambe or Asia, does not seem like much more of an ask for the next phase to just go to your car. But that is probably ten to twenty years away.

Disclaimer: I have asthma; I am extremely anti-smoking, I believe smoking is a privilege, not a right. I also recognize that smoking is an addiction, one that is incredibly difficult to overcome.

The only issue is that most people in WDW aren't driving. So it's not as though they have someplace to leave their things when they do step out for a quick smoke. It's also punishing those who are following the rules because some people aren't.

No one is saying they have to smoke in their cars. The smoking area could be central in the parking lots, which are less hazard and easier to clean up.

This keeps it out of the park, and keeps the central location provided similar to how it is now.

The vapes in the parks have caused headaches for people sneaking puffs, having Cast Members having to enforce it later post security as that is not a thing that gets the restriction.

To the bolded part, that unfortunately with the devils in the detail things in all rules such as photography accessories and other things that are no longer allowed.

I haven't, even when it has been literally right in front of CM's.
I've seen the opposite. I've seen CMs run over to people who are smoking to ask them to put it away. Also, if you point out a smoker to a CM, they will absolutely go tell the person to put it out (based on experience; I don't have a choice but to complain thanks to my asthma).

I feel bad for them. They've probably been yelled at for telling people to stop smoking. People are so rude.

What she is saying is that a good amount of guests are staying onsite, without a car. Should they just pop back to their hotel to have a smoke?

I don't think she was saying they should break a rule or the law to smoke in a room. They could smoke in the hotel's designated areas but why would they go further than a designated area outside of the park and security to smoke?

The comment I was addressing was to the point about not allowing lighters and e-cigs through security, which isn't feasible given that people don't have someplace to leave it outside of the park.

I personally think where they are is fine. They're close enough to the park entrance so most people will choose to use it instead of smoking wherever, but they're also easy enough to avoid.

The only one I think could be better is the one outside International Gateway. It's both cramped for smokers and in the way of a path (the smoke floats right to the bridge above), not to mention I used to like using that path when going back to BC to avoid climbing the bridge. It would be better if there were a dedicated area built for smokers off to the side, though I doubt that would happen.
