Small World Exterior

It is if you're the one who has to sit in front of them and having to listen to the kids point out every Disney character while you try to enjoy the ride the way it was originally intended.:brick:

Because the ride was originally intended to bore children in to silence?

How could they be working on yet ANOTHER attraction when Hall of Presidents, Space Mountain and TTA are down??? I'm bringing 2 first timers the first week of June and I am not happy that all of these attractions are being worked on at the same time. It's just plain rude.

I think I agree.
While it would be cute to see the characters in IaSW (I guess I can see it at DL if I go there), I like our version just the way it is...it's an original.

Thank You!
Everyone clamors for originality and talks about how it has disappeared from The World. However these same people are so quick to complain: "I hope they tear it down...hahaha."
Well guess what, one of the most original and groubdbreaking rides of all time is sitting there right in front of you and you don't even have the respect to hop on a 7 or 10 minute (not to sure how long it is) ride through living theme park history.
I hope they keep it how it is...just how Walt might have wanted it.

That is your opinion. If you don't like it, don't ride it. I work the attraction and I know tons of people, old and young alike, who appreciate the attraction the way it is.

It's not rude. It's called refurbishing attractions for future enjoyment. Something WDW needs a lot more of. They don't work around one person's trip. As for Small World, they're probably working on a short paint and refresh after Spring Break and before the majority of the summer crowds. Makes sense to me.

Rode the DL version. Aside from the fact that without the characters the ride is about 6.5 million times better than it is at WDW, the characters (outside of 1 group of 3 characters) fit perfectly. Didn't care for Woody, Jessie and Bullseye, but they weren't terrible. I find it funny how everyone makes such a big to-do about adding Disney characters to a Disney ride while making it sound like the ride has been changed in some fundamental way, which in my opinion it hasn't. The changes are subtle and cute. Your mileage may vary of course.

True, I haven't ridden it yet so I can't say much about it until a thorough ride-thru. It's just my favorite attraction that's all and I just wish it doesn't get touched. I just don't see what adding Disney characters has anything to do with the original theme of world peace and cultures?:veryconfu I've also read at DL that after exiting the ride they have some cart set out with Disney character pins and merchandise. I hope that's not true.

The DL refurb would have been a better success IMO, if they did not include music from the movies with the character additions, did not include other characters as "toys", and merely kept a small set of characters in children form.

i.e:

Peter Pan and Wendy (no tinkerbell)

Alice only

Cinderella only

Pinocchio but as an actual doll and no Jimminy

Aladdin and Jasmin are fine but again no music

Mulan but no toy dragon

simba, pumba, timon blend in very nicely

would never have included the three caballeros IMO

the little mermaid on her own would be find, but the mermaid bubble voices are gone!

I would have no dory and nemo, no stitch, Lilo on the surfboard yes.

A doll version of woody and jessie but nothing else.

The characters are in their respective cultures that the original stories existed in or were set in, and they are all kid-size versions that fit in (with one or two exceptions) with the surrounding characters pretty well.

From my recollection there is a "its a small world toy store" or something similar. There are pins in the store just like at every other store.

To be honest, I did not even notice that the soundtrack had been changed. I've heard that it has but it is very subtle. That was my experience as I never even heard it.

And I don't understand the problem with Mushu, the White Rabbit, Jiminy, etc. Its not like there weren't already real and imaginary animals in the ride in the first place.

IMO it seems like the three caballeros can't stop ruining rides lately. Mexico pavilion. I rest my case.:zipit: To me, it seems like the Caballeros doesn't fit well with current times, and how much of the general population actually remember their movie?

I would have no dory and nemo

Now IMO that's really a bad idea. Wanna see Dory and Nemo? Walk across the street to Finding Nemo subs.

I'm sorry if I started an argument with any of my posts. Didn't mean it if I did.:) It's just that I feel particularly strongly about this change. I think the DL changes to Small World from what I've read from both sides is just one of those arguments that can continue til the end of time, heck, even bringing in the family of the late Ms. Blair, which is unfortunate.

Okay, I'm done with my OT rant. Regarding the topic, WDW Small World is only getting exterior refurbishment so we don't have to worry about anything else.

Edit: Wow. There's a hurricane-like storm going through Central Florida right now. Lost power for a bit. Fun, fun. I guess summer's back in FL.:D

No, its all opinion, I just happen to think its a minor thing to get upset about, especially with more galling things happening throughout the parks. Not saying I'm right, just my opinion!

Yeah, I know. I just threw it out cause I recently started posting again and I didn't wanna be portrayed as one of those people who view everything negatively on these boards.:) It's all good.

Because some of the Small World Children tried to escape....
Just throwing this in from a back-stage POV, but it's really creepy if you're doing a walk-thru and the music's shut off and all the little kids are just moving back and forth emitting robotic noise. I've seen it.:lookaroun (I mean you wouldn't actually think the music plays all night do ya?)
