Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but I searched and couldn't find anything.

Epcot's Innoventions Plaza appears to be getting refurbishment work. About half of the walkway has been repaved and looks much better so far, the rest is not finished yet as of 3/7/11.

In addition, all of the spinny things have been removed! Yep, all of them. They are all gone. Could this mean the canopy is finally coming down soon too??

Meh. I liked the spinny things. Canopy not so much. But the spinny things...I thought those were kind of cool.

Thanks for the update! Do you have any pictures? :)

Yeah I agree, I actually liked the spinny things and the kinetic energy they added to the plaza. Sorry, I didn't have a camera on me!

Does this also include the spinners on the directional signs as well past Innoventions?
Perhaps they are good signs for Epcot's 30th

It was time for the spinning things to go. Toward the end they were frequently not working.

I like how the ground mirrors the diamond pattern of the over-hang. Is that what people are saying they don't like? I like it.

^ It does?? I never even made that connection. I don't mind the tarp, either, though the tarp pieces could be replaced with something less faded looking.

could this be the start of a re-imagining of inoventions???
even though it does not need it as much as DHS and AK need it

I think so. The ground has a diamond pattern going one way and the tarps are going the other. I am pretty neutral on the subject of it being removed. But I think it's kinda cool.

Well the over-hang will soon be gone as well.

I am fine if something awesome goes there. Any clue as to what? I am sure it will just be taken down and replaced with nothing.

Count me in as one who liked the spinning things (was their official name a whirly gig?)! I thought they were fun and added to the area.

What are these whirlygigs that have been removed y'all are talking about. I go to Epcot all the time and I just can't picture them.
