Small Budget- Best room?

Advice please everyone!

We totally loved our trip to WDW and would like/love to go again next year. Additionally my in-laws and sister in-law went earlier this year with three rather difficult people and did not have a good time so I would like to take them with us. That means that we would have five adults and at least one child. We could have two children with us. So is it better to get a suite type space or to get two rooms? Whichever you think is best what resort do you think would be best for a group of three women, two men and a child?

somewhat depends on time of year

hi there... okay i have stayed in every resort though the years except Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Winderness Campgrounds. my all time favorite is Caribbean Beach. i was just there 1 week ago for the umpteenth time at that resort but my first since 2004.

so when i go and i am on budget, and that seems to happen a lot more in recent years, i like to stay at the Pop Century. when i make my reservation i usually ask for a Standard room but request the 50's or 60's buildings and i have always been very happy. now prior to the past june the last time i stayed at the other All Star resorts was about 6 or 7 years ago and i was not very happy because of the shared bus system. HOWEVER, this [ast june i stayed at both the Pop Century for 1 week and moved over to the All-Star Movies for 1 week. i confess that i really enjoyed staying the the movies. it was before it got too crazy with people down at WDW so the bus situation was not really bothersome (keep in mind that i still like the dedicated Pop Century bus system instead of the at most times shared All-Stars buses). i thought the Movies, being a lot smaller than Pop, was far more intimate and felt all around closer than the spread out feeling at the POP.

so with that in mind, i would say it depends on your budget(s) and the time of year you go and also what specials disney is promoting then.

i would recommend 2 separate rooms vs. the 1 large suite. a suite is fine for a larger INNEDIATE family... but shared area hmmmm i think you will prefer the ability to go to your OWN separated room sometimes for a break. also 2 rooms is probably cheaper than 1 suite and if your arrival is a day earlier or you want to stay a day later then it is easier to plan that as well.

so in the end my recommendations at where to stay are these and again keep in mind what is your budget --- 1) Caribbean Beach (i suggest Jamaica); 2) the Poly (everywhere is great); 3) Pop Century (50's or 60's); 4) Boardwalk and 5) Movies

I would also go with the two rooms. The All Star Music Suites will hold a maximum of 6 people, whereas two rooms would hold at a maximum of 8. If a budget is a big concern, I would definitely look at Pop Century, or one of the All Stars. Belle

I personally would get 2 rooms at a value resort. The good thing there is 2 bathrooms and it'll be cheaper than a suite anywhere. This is what I did this year since my parents and sisters are staying in one room and myself and my friend in another. It was cheaper and better for us considering we ended up paying around $49 a night at POP, it was a no brainer for me! Hope this helps

The family suites also have 2 bathrooms and they also have a mini kitchen with as microwave, fridge, sink, coffee maker, plastic utencils and cabinets/shelves. You could also cook light meals, being that it has a micro which would save you money. But, 2 rooms do have 4 beds, which it seems like you would need.

Keep an eye out for specials, depending on the time of year you are going. You can always book and then change it to the new discounted price, where applicable.

Good luck and have a great time.:)

I am going to wdw in 7 weeks with My wife , our 2 kids , MY in-laws and a niece.
We thought about getting a Villa or suite .
It is alot more money . It would have cost me around 50-60 percent more.
While I do like my in-laws it will be nice to have our own space .
We asked for adjoining rooms at POFQ and well see how that goes. Good luck.

Your least expensive on property option is 2 rooms at a value followed by a value suite. Next to that would be 2 rooms at a moderate but if money is an issue and you are not planning on spending a good bit of time at your resort then I would go with 2 rooms at a value.

I suppose that is where my bit of stress in being the one to pick comes in. We are taking them because 1. they had a really bad time last time they went and that just isn't right 2. I would love for my son to get to have that time with his gigi and pop pop as well! I already made sure to tell them that my husband, son and I will be leaving for the park when we are ready and we will be coming back to the resort when we are ready. This last trip we opened and shut down the parks on 6 out of 7 days and I know that they aren't exactly capable of that. So- my husband, son and I won't be spending much time at the resort but my in-laws may be.

We stayed at a value this last trip and we loved it. Specifically we stayed at movies. That said, we didn't really get to look around all that much so all I saw was our fantasia area and the part of Toy Story that we drove past every day. Which of the resorts do you think has the best pool for a grown up? Actually which has the best anything for a grown up while still being wonderful for a kid?

All of the value resorts are near identical in design so one is really not better that the other. About the only difference is the theming tacked onto the side of what would be an otherwise rather boring building. POP century is slightly better than the All Stars as it is in a way a value resort 2.0. The food court has a bit of a better layout and the transportation is much better.

If your in-laws are going to spend a bit of time at the resort and you can swing the cost I would look at upgrading to Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter which are moderate resorts. At a moderate resort and above you no longer feel like you are in a motel. They really feel like you have left WDW and are in a different time and/or place. The buildings are no longer a motel 6 with Disney theming nailed to the side but are themed to look like (in the case of Port Orleans) New Orleans, Southern Mansions or a rustic building. The pools and the grounds also follow these themes. In the Alligator Bayou section of PORS there are ponds with murky water in them and cypress knees jutting out of it. The foliage has a somewhat overgrown look so it is really like you are in a Louisiana swamp minus the mosquitoes.

OK I am totally going to have to price Port Orleans out and see if we can swing it. Maybe, just maybe- hmmm....

I talked to my mother in law and showed her pictures of the different resorts and such and she is in love with POFQ! She really seemed to want to stay there. But she also seems set on wanting to use her old tickets while she is there and not pay for new ones. She thinks that she has four days left on her tickets-

I would like to go for the free dining period and my husband, son and I would need tickets so ummm- how would that work? Any ideas how to work all that out?
