Slight let down

try doing that with an annual pass,I think you are all missing my piont a annual pass looks just like any other ticket and is on the same card stock.Maybe just maybe a card you would have for over a year that will be used many times over the year should be made of better material?
I have carried 5 AP's in my wallet for around 9 years now. At our peak we were at the parks around 40 days per year and feeding our AP's through the turnstiles on average about twice per day. My 2 older daughters would commonly carry them out of the sleeve and in there pockets while at WDW. In all that time, with all that abuse I have never once had to replace one.

Given the 100% operation status with the mylar AP's that I have experienced over the 9 years worth of real world world torture testing I have put them through I fail to see a way that they need to improve the quality. They are supposed to go through a card reader and admit you to the park. Nothing more. If you need a status symbol to show regular guests that you are an AP holder and therefore better than them buy a t-shirt that reads "I am an AP holder! Bow down and worship me!"

I am a Florida Annual Passholder and the ticket that I have, I kid you not, is a semi-thick piece of paper. When I say semi-thick, it is rippable. I've seen tickets like the ones you have bought and they are far more durable than passholder tickets.
They are printed on exactly the same media form the same machine.

Whats wrong with someone wanting something to be nice? Sheesh. People complain about the napkins or souvenir mugs for petes sake. Give the OP a break.

I could care less about the tix but its the general decline of quality and cost cutting that bugs me. I suppose the tix are just a microcosm of the whole TDO situation.

I have, and it wouldn't tear.

Just did it to my new one. Guess what...it didn't tear.

Honestly, I felt the same way when I got my first AP. After seeing how much those "cheap paper tickets" can take, I would rather have them.

They will give you a better quality ticket in terms of colors, fonts, pictures, medium etc.... But we will all have to pay more so that we have a "pretty ticket" to look at. The ticket is seen for 5-10 minutes a day and spends the rest of the day stuffed in to a wallet resting under someones sweaty as* all day or buried in a purse.

I realize that some people think plastic = better but it's completely wrong. The AP's will last MUCH LONGER than a plastic card...it's not paper, it's mylar. It will withstand fading, ripping, wear and tear and can't be demagnetized.

The plastic cards can crack, break, and frequently get demagnetized just from being put in a purse or wallet that has a magnetic clasp.

The AP's are made better to last longer, they are a better quality and not made of the cheap plastic that the day-to-day cards are.

Get happy that you have this card...if this puts a damper on your trip, it's a shame. Don't let it. It is a complete non-issue since the card is not the flimsy paper you think it is. You could have this card in 10 years and it will still be in good shape. Some people need their plastic card replaced in a weeks vacation.

You have the top of the line, number 1, super-duper, fantastic best of the best card in the whole entire world. See, nothing to get upset about.

or maybe a ticket is just a ticket and the money the OP paid for her vacation is being spent on things that matter more, like what's inside the parks.

Yes, I think that goes without saying.. why waste money on the ticket, right? The point is, there are corners being cut all over the place so what is next, fewer showings of Fantasmic ... prffft. Oh, wait a minute ..

I guess it really doesn't matter what my AP is printed on because I will just hop over the fence anyway. After all, Disney doesn't care what we do.

You are paying $500 to get into the parks. What difference does the ticket medium make in your enjoyment of the parks. For me not a bit.

And you must not have looked at concert ticket prices lately. $100 and up for artist like Billy Joel, The Police, etc is common place and those tickets are printed on paper stock or are printed off of your own printer.

Most of you, especially master yoda, are missing my point. Our trip to Disney, as I imagine is the case for many others, is a once in a few years opportunity. Of course we are paying for access to the parks. We understand that - that's why we're going. We are spending a lot of money for the trip and we are certain that we will have an awesome time. We are not nit picky people and once we hit the park entrance I will forget all about the cheap ticket quality. But when we return home and think back on our trip it would be nice to have a sturdy, shiny, quality keepsake ticket to spark our memories. This is not a concert or a movie which we go to frequently. This is Disney, and I would like Disney to be as exceited about my coming as I am. It's not a huge deal, but as I titled the thread, it is a slight disappointment.

You will - your Key to the World card - room key - is meant to be a souvenir. Transfer your ticket admission to that at check in and then you will only need to carry that with you.

We have to let it go ALO1984 we are in the minority here so that makes us wrong. These so called military grade tickets must have came out since mid May when I got our new Annual Passes because I just tore off the corner of the ticket with no problem. I must be wrong again.Anyway its back in the safe till September.

Since i stayed at the resort my tickets were my room card, so it was a nice keep sake. But I understand where you are coming from since I for a long while loved collecting movie stubs, tickets, and etc. And anytime an event, place, or whatever had a nicer stub rather than your typical ticketmaster garbage it was just nice. I'd hope for the same out of Disney. in my case the key card was nice, but i've seen the paper tickets and yeah not too impressed. For the day pass it's understandable but for annual passes or week passes I'd certainly hope it's higher quality like a plastic card.

So bring home a map, your KTTW card, or buy a personalized souvenir. Your ticket it meant to be a device to get you into the park. It is supposed to work ever time without fail. If it fails you have to waste time getting a new one. Why should Disney obligated to use an inferior medium in order to make the ticket a "keepsake" in your eyes. Regardless of what you believe the mylar ticket is more durable than the plastic one you are bent out of shape for not getting.

I also don't see what is so reprehensible about the current tickets either. It is not like they are a plain white piece of paper with "Walt Disney World" in Times New Roman font on the front. All have graphics on them and Disney even goes so far as having multiple designs on them so nearly every member of the family gets a different one. IMHO Disney has gone way past the call of duty to produce an attractive and durable ticket that is suitable to be a keepsake.

I think you are really setting yourself up for failure. If you are already getting upset about Disney giving you a ticket that does not meet you ascetic standards, I can only imagine how displeased you will be shold a real problem should occur.
