a.k.a. The Adventures of Pascal TR

Intro:
Welcome everyone to my very first trip report! Ahh!!! All week, I’ve been trying to be good and wait to start on my TR until I got my lesson plans for school done (they’re all due tonight), but… since I’m currently at work and am at a place where I can’t do any work on my lessons until I’m out of the office, I figured that posting the beginnings would be a good idea! :lol: As you may have read in my Pre Trip Report, this trip has definitely been a long time coming… a 4 year wait for me in fact! I was told that if I didn’t write my trip report for this trip, I would be “disowned, unfollowed, and shunned”… thanks for that one Kenzie!

In the midst of the trip, we got to celebrate both of our birthdays and Valentine’s Day, so it was a magical experience indeed.

So without further ado:

The cast:

There’s me, Courtney, who turns 23 tomorrow (AHHHH!) and this was my 19th trip to the World… and then there’s my wonderful BF, Dan, who turned 23 the day before our trip (Feb 12) and who is lucky enough (or not) to spend his first WDW visit with me!

There was a third member of our cast as well… a mischief stowaway by the name of Pascal!

The dates: February 13 through February 17, 2012


The resort: Pop Century

Thoughts

This TR is 67 pages and 16,950 words in my Word document on my computer. WOW.

I am about to start crying. Right now. Wait, no, I am crying. Wahhhhh.

This was the best trip I’ve been on out of 19… and I know it’s just going to keep getting better from here, so it’s been killing me waiting to go back. To the point that I’ve been in Disney Depression for an official month as of today (wow… a month ago right now, we were leaving DHS for the hotel to catch DME. Yepp, crying again).

We didn’t have any problems with transportation at all, including DME. Which is good, because it made a huge impression on Dan… to the point that he’s decided he would do that instead of being a face character if he got a Disney job.

Dan’s completely on board for me doing the College Program next spring so he has a huge excuse to come visit Disney. A lot. That in itself makes this trip a success.

Getting to celebrate Valentines and birthdays in Disney made this trip completely magical. A whole different degree of magic than I was expecting.
Most of the ADRs we made, I wasn’t completely impressed with. I’m glad we did them, but I’m not going to be doing them again anytime soon.
It’s odd to think that some of these rides are going to be different/gone when I’m back again in September for the ToT run.

6 months and 11 days until I’m back in WDW again… now just to figure out how to not be depressed for the next 6 months. Ideas?

Aww its over I didn't know you wanted to do the college program next spring by the way! I applied for it for this spring, but you know, my school will take away my financial aid if I go, so I have to wait until after I graduate, so I'm thinking Fall 2014 now. You'll have to let me know all about it next year!

So glad you guys had an awesome trip!! And I'm so pumped Dan has converted to a Disney lover! He's going in Sept too right? I'll get to meet you two!! Woot woot!!!

Getting on the DME is pretty much thr worst thing ever. I cant even handle the video or the music from the attractions they have playing. When we left in Nov they had Spectro music playing and I was a mess!

great trip report courtney. so sad that its over. the post disney depression is a hard thing to get over but having another trip to look forward to always helps me. september will be here before you know it and you will be crossing that finish line at the tot 10 miler! thanks for sharing your report!

Yeah, you pretty much saved us that last day haha... I was like "Dan, Darolyn just said on Twitter that we should check the prices" "Who's Darolyn?" "She's from the boards." "I should have figured." :lol:

And sadly I don't think Dan is going in Sept, unless his brother & brother's fiancee decide to go and he goes with them, which is possible.

He was telling me the other day that he wants to go back and play Kim Possible before they switch it over to Perry... I don't think we can plan a trip that quickly, or afford it. :lol:

Yep! I graduate next January, so it's the perfect time for me to go. I applied back in 2008 for fall and got in, but had to turn it down because of school. They told me to reapply when I was ready, so fingers crossed!

Is it sad there's a part of me who doesn't want September to get here? I'm student teaching then, and scared out of my wits for it to come! But Disney will definitely help me through that I'm sure.

My DD is down there right now in the DCP and loving it. She works at AIE in Hollywood Studios. Been there since January 9th and loves it so much she is thinking about extending til August.

:lol: exhaustion is like my middle name right now! So I definitely know how she feels with that one, at least I'm getting practice for when I go down right?

I wish I was going now instead of in almost a year, but it is kinda exciting to think that I'll get to go 3 times in 1 year technically. Do you know when she was first able to apply last fall? Give me an idea of when to keep a look out on the website

It was in early September, she did the online application, then the web-based interview, phone interview 5 days later, accepted 2 weeks after that.

There is a Disney College Program facebook page. If you have not "liked" them yet, I would suggest you do that because they keep everyone up to date on application dates for DCP, College Reps and Internships.

So glad you had a great trip and it would appear with a wonderful guy. Here's to the continued success of your relationship and good luck with the DCP next year. Keep us updated!

I'll be going down next month to see my daughter and can't wait. Using her discount to stay at the Wildnerness Lodge for the first time!!!!!

Weren't we going to do Sparkle Skirts with Darolyn? :lol: I thought we were all gonna match!

Finally had a chance to finish reading your trip report, Courtney. So happy to hear that this was your BEST. TRIP. EVER. And that there will be many more like it to come. Congrats on the weight loss - you look fabulous! And good luck with your training for the 10K... just be forewarned, those races are addicting, so I doubt it will be your last.

Oh yes, and I heart the Many Adventures mirror shot! Made of win.

Waahh it caann't be over!! I have had SOO MUUCH fun reading this trip report!
I don't know if it's because he got a lot of sun, but Dan's face was looking a little red on the DME (possibly from tearing up?) Haha!
I think every time I fly home our flight gets delayed and I'm like "Mom it's a sign!" or "Aww maan we could've spent like 2 more hours in the parks!" :lol:
I'm glad that you guys had a fantastic trip and that Dan has become "one of us"! Haha! :ROFLOL:
