"Show" keeps getting worse

I don't think it's a BIG issue, but it is a SMALL issue, of which there are a rapidly growing number. Hence the concern.

See the above quote.

I don't think that this is an issue at all. But I do agree that issues exist, both big and small...

:banghead: I created this thread because WDWs show quality is diminishing, just in general. These posters are supposed to be BRIGHT AND COLORFUL, not faded so much they're almost black and white. I'm sure they'll eventually be replaced but this is something that wdw should have backups ready to go for.

I'm just saddened by Goofy's knife wheel where kids have hung on the prop and ripped all the dagger handles out.
For the record, I actually like the circus area. And I can't blame Diz for poorly-parented, unsupervised brats tearing up everything in sight. But once something is tattered, worn, broken or unsightly, fix that crap! What originally attracted me to WDW in 1976 was the attention to detail. I'm a detail-oriented person, so I very much appreciate all of the little extra touches that 99% of visitors would never even notice. But that sword cuts both ways - I also notice the dusty air vents, peeling paint, burned-out lightbulbs, and yes - even badly faded posters. No one has mentioned it, but have you seen Casey Jr. lately? In March, his blue paint was basically faded to gray. This seems to be due to the heavily chlorinated water shooting from his stack. It looked like something in a neglected public park. Just awful.

Disney still does pay a lot of attention to detail while building new attractions, and it's one of the things I love about Disney. But, when you put all this effort in when they're installed and don't keep up with it maintenance wise, you might as well not have put the effort in from the beginning. Millions of guests see areas of wdw all throughout the year

Imo they should have backups ready to be put up before the ones on stage get this bad. I'm sure the people who do this for a living have an idea of how long these things can last in the sun.

I cannot wait to go back. I missed Pan and Matterhorn last time but loved the rest of it. Alice in Wonderland is the best of the classic dark rides for both coasts. Didn't see Magical Map either.
When were you over there? Because I went for the first time ever last May, and those 2 exact things were down for refurbishment too. I was so disappointed for Matterhorn, I've always wondered what it was like. Alice was amazing.

No need to slam your head. In general, I have seen improvements in general maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness in the last 5 to 6 years. So this is where I differ from you and this perspective is totally from my point of view from when I walk through the parks. I feel grateful that it never got to the DL levels of a decade or so ago. That was really ugly from what I understand.

In regards to the posters, some assume that either WDW is not aware they are faded, or doesn't care and is not planning on doing anything about it. My perspective is that they have a most likely have a schedule in place for items like these to be replaced and/or at least looked at for consideration to be replaced. To me, that would be reasonable, although I do not think everyone would agree.

Now, if we are still talking about this a year from now and the posters are in horrible shape (which I don't really think they are at the moment to be honest), I will be more than happy to jump on board with ya'll.

Going back to general maintenance, etc., as I mentioned above, the parks look in better shape than 5 or 6 years ago to me. This is not coming from someone who goes once a month or twice every decade, but from someone who goes once or twice a year (just to provide some context). So I am not on board with the general idea of show quality diminishing overall. I see improvements in this area.

Finally, this is no way blinds me to the fact there there are things that I actually believe are concerning. Just to name a few: the state of FW in EPCOT, if bathroom cleanliness is turning into a real concern or already is, what the heck is going to happen with RoL, why do some attractions still have broken effects that never seem to be fixed?

Anyways, hopefully this explains where I am coming from. No one has to agree with it, obviously.

I didn't notice that there, but I did notice that the Star Chores poster in MuppetVision's queue was faded the last time I was there. Then again, that ride is 25 years old...

[redo] Ok so the posters appear really faded but I'm not sure if they're intentionally that way.
If you can feed your modern audience circus tents and posters for a land rather than a mediaeval village, then you might as well sell them worn, faded posters. They don't mind, there's a 'meet a toon celeb' for an attraction and a snack stand every forty feet, so they're perfectly happy. If I were Disney I'd too diss my classic, discerning customer base for this goldmine.

I just sent a text message to a close friend of mine who is a Senior Managing Director over the Signs and Banners department for MK. He said he'll get this issue resolved right away. New banners should be up before Saturday morning.

Maybe we should actually start an ongoing maintenance list on the forum to help the mouse out?

It could be a sticky where posters write a "job sheet" it could consist of a date, park/hotel, attraction/shop/restaurant, and a description of the work required.

E.g.
6/2/16 MK Storybook Circus - faded circus posters need replacing

Other posters could then look out for the exact same issue, like a hidden Mickey and report back if and when it is fixed?

Here in the UK today we have just had a massive retailer "BHS" or British Home Stores file for bankruptcy.

Basically they had long stopped refreshing the stores, not adapting to changing habits, but more than anything the stores were no longer fresh or inspiring

They would have fit in the UK pavillion at Epcot OK; but no longer an option...
