Should there be more benefits for people staying at better resorts?

More for deluxe guests?

It's not an entitlement if you pay for it.

That aside, I don't think this would be a very wise business move on Disney's part. Populist anger at any perception of a class system is very high right now (justified or not is a topic for a different forum).

Instituting a system where there is a clear delination beyond bus stops could turn off the proletariat that Disney has been aggressively courting the past few years.

What I would like to see Disney do is bring their amenities at the Deluxe resorts on par with the Westin's and other similiar teir of the world. There is no reason a $400 a night room should have a thin comforter when I can get a duvet at a Hampton Inn.

I'm not asking for free breakfast or anything that the low end chains use to compete for business travel, just an upgrade of the bed linens and other amenities to their appropriate teir industry standard.
Right, not entitlement if you pay for it, but if Disney were to offer it to this group, I think it would feed that idea.

The rest of your post I agree with, too. (How strange! :D ) and I might add, the breakfast at Hampton is very good. And yes, free. Who needs Pop?

Do we really need to get the Disney Have's and Have Not's separated further? The Grand Floridian was already pretty much designed for this to highlight this dichotomy of the US and world population and thinking of old.

Where would it stop:
1. Value resorts cannot get into the parks until 1 hour after opening and must exit 2 hours before closing
2. Moderate resorts must exit 2 hours before park closing
3. WL and AKL are the two least expensive Deluxe resorts so they are not included in the benefits of the more exclusive deluxe resorts
4. If you book a Deluxe and your Net Worth is less than $10M, then you get reverted back to benefits of any one staying at a Value resort although you splurged for Deluxe.
5. All E-Rides are only open for Deluxe resort guests between the hours of 8AM-12PM and 2PM-Closing.
6. Deluxe resorts get to sit at the front of DME bus, Moderates in the middle, and Values in the back.
7. Disney buses pick up all deluxe resort passengers first until they are in the parks, then Moderates, and finally Values.

I think the benefits of Deluxe are already there. You are paying for the ambiance, internal corridors, much better theming, and location. I for one can stay at any resort. I lived through all of this crap when I lived in Boca Raton. The South FL mentality of keeping up with the Jones's is ridiculous. I choose to stay at Moderate and Value resorts because I would rather have my money working for me so when I go my daughter never has to worry about money in her life.

All but #3 are great ideas......

Those deluxe resorts cost quite a bit of money, especially for a 2 week stay. Now you can drop ten grand easy, and its worth every penny.

Not to sound like I'm being a smart-aleck, but if it's "worth every penny" already, it sounds like you don't mind paying $10,000 and getting no special FastPass treatment.

But in the spirit of your question (rather than the way you worded it), I'll buck the trend and say that I do think those paying more should get more. The Uni hotel system and their Express pass make sense.

Before others react angrily, let me remind you that it was this way in Walt's day too. If you had a lot of money, you could buy nothing but E-Tickets if you wanted. More money = better experience.

The deeper issue that interests me in your question and this thread is what happens when people paying $10,000 start asking questions like "hm, shouldn't I get unlimited FastPasses for this?" That's an indication that Disney is no longer delivering value, a premium product for a premium price.

Put another way, I could imagine someone asking your questions deciding that he shouldn't bother paying $10,000 for hotel rooms in the future ... and this is a problem Disney is going to face sooner rather than later.

Having stayed at the different tiers, I believe that there are already many more benefits and amenities to those paying a higher price at the Deluxe resorts. If the OP doesn't believe so, perhaps he should spend the first half of one of his trips at All Star or Pop. He can see for himself the differences first hand.

The Deluxe resorts have the bus stops closer to the exit gates to the parks, they have towels AT the pools instead of having to take the poor quality room washcloths to use as towels for grown ups, they have restaurants instead of food courts, pools with slides and whirlpools, nicer rooms, and basically everything that they're paying more money for.

If Disney was to listen to the OP, they could close all of the Values because people would get so fed up they'd spend their money elsewhere where it would be appreciated.

I think most people are already peeved about not being able walk into a TS in the parks and be able to eat without preplanning 180 days in advance. Or being on a 2 hour line for Toy Story Mania because of Fast Pass. (Yes, I believe Fast Pass drives up the waits. Seen it first hand. People come back all hours of the day after their pass's time frame and make everyone else wait longer. Unnecessary and should be done away with. Same with Magic My Way. I wish I'd had the forsight to buy the old tickets with Park Hopping included in bulk.)

Uhhm No. Lol, Whats keeping you or anyone else from staying at a value resort? Its your choice to spend more money on a fancier resort. You and a few may think you're to good to stay at a moderate or value resort but there is nothing keeping you from it other than possibly your pride. Why should disney treat you better? On site guests already get the free transportation and emh, thats good enough. Disney I'm sure, wouldnt do this, but if they did I would be really peeved.

I don't think the deluxe resorts are worth the money they charge so I'm not sure what my answer would be (and I stay deluxe). I think they should lower the price and that would be sufficient benefit for me. What other perks could they offer anyway? An extra ride on Soarin?

I don't believe the value resort guests should be given the shaft because they don't want to pay the inflated price of the deluxes either. Some people who stay value and/or mod have the capacity to stay in a deluxe but choose not to because of the value or lack thereof. People who stay in upscale resorts in the real world know that the deluxe resorts in Disney aren't the same (not by a long shot).

You already get more, when you stay at a deluxe you then have the convenience of room service and a spa and a gym, things like that. To make it into packages? lets say...no, that I feel is going too far, its already ALOT to stay in deluxe resorts lets not give them any ideas on how to raise the prices any more.

We have stayed in AKL villas the Poly, Caribbean beach, All star....we have stayed in all the "levels" if you will of resorts....I have to say, although I love AKL and the Poly....I dont mind staying in a POP....I would rather spend less on a room, get a perfectly nice room and do more "things" you know what I mean?
For the amount of time I spend in that room, its just not worth the price to me.

Here, here!!! Personally, we would rather use that extra money to buy a few more souvenirs or to do a couple of other things while we are down in Florida (day trips off-site and such). We are only in our rooms to sleep most of the trip anyways and I just can't see that being worth THAT much more money.

I know, I know...most people will say that the theming and comfort level of the higher end resorts justify the difference in price. If I REALLY wanted to sink a fortune into a vacation and spend most of it relaxing, I would do so...but maybe on some nice tropical island or something with a nice drink in my hand. DUDE.........I'm at WDW for the parks baby!!!!!!! :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

You should definitely get more from spending more at the deluxe hotels. It just makes sense for everything else in life you spend more you get more(well not everything).

I can't understand why people are saying No. Should you not get more for spending more. Should we all drive Camry's even though you might have Ferrari money. I mean I think you do get more from staying at a deluxe but not enough at all.

However I don't think the benefits should spill over into the parks at all. At least not in anyway that is obvious for others to see.

One of my favorite reasons for going to Disney is having the feeling of equality. There are not to many places I go that I feel treated completely equal. When I go to Disney the CM's don't seem to care what I look like.

By paying more to stay in a Deluxe resort, you in turn are getting more. I vote No. That is your choice to stay there. You should get no more perks in the parks themselves, then someone staying in a Value resort or someone coming to visit one of the parks for a day.

I would be very, very happy if WDW followed along with Universal and made a "VIP FastPass" available for certain resort guests.

Because WDW has so many more rooms they would have to limit it. In my opinion they could offer it only to guests staying at the concierge/club level at deluxe resorts.

But this topic always brings out the class envy and bitter feelings.

The whole point of this thread was to find a valid explanation of why if, someone pays for a premium hotel, why can't they get more for their money at the parks?

Now I would love for this to happen, and I have made no bones about it, but what if Disney listen to me, and made this happen?

Would it alter your trip to a value, and save for an even magical experience at a deluxe?

You pay for a better hotel, you get a better hotel.

You pay for a better ticket, you get more for it (more days, discounts, access to Tables in Wonderland, etc.)

This already exists.

No, beyond what you get now, beyond the ambiance of a deluxe resort. There should be more, hopefully one day, soon, there will be.

Even if for a select amount of guests, staying at a deluxe.

Im sorry but you seem to think that somehow money indicates class.

How very colonial.

Yes, this would be perfect. Do not even let the Deluxe resort guests know they are getting the "perk". Have the park open after hours for them and divide the private party cost of keeping the park open amongst their credit cards. Assume it is $500k per night to keep the park open, allow 1000 Deluxe resort guests to go each night, bill their credit cards $500 per person per room per night. Also, no one at a Deluxe resort would have a choice for the charges. If selected at random, you pay the bill regardless of taking advantage of it.

Is this what you are looking for? Or are you just looking for a free hand out?

I hope you are doing this just for laughs. If not, I hope you are in tight with your Klan.

GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!

How about this for a question: If a Deluxe resort guest could add on a perk they don't currently get - AS LONG AS that perk has nothing to do with park admission or fastpasses - what would/could/should it be? Free meals? Oh wait, that would be concierge service. :D

As others have said, by staying at a deluxe resort, you're getting a nicer room, with more amenities, nicer pools, better locations, better views (most of the time)...so the idea of saying "yeah, but I want more for my money" comes across as kind of asinine. EVERYONE wants more for their money, your argument is "well, I pay A LOT more."

If you don't feel like you're getting your money's worth, don't go. If you think you ARE getting your money's worth but want more anyway, welcome to the human race.
