Due to the mess in Atlanta, Airtran cancelled our flight for tonight and can't rebook us until late Saturday...scheduled to come home on Sunday. So, needless to say, no Disney for us this week. :(

Instead of enjoying our first evening at the Boardwalk, I get to shovel MY walk...that's fun too, right?

Working to book a new trip...hopefully in the next couple weeks. Called DVC...not much open on days we can travel. This stinks! :brick:

OMG, so sorry. I was wondering if anyone on the board has/had been effected by this cruddy weather. More snow coming this weekend and then next week a MAJOR storm is predicted...about mid week. Gotta love winter :hurl:.

I'm sorry about your trip. We're supposed to go to WDW for a getaway weekend next Friday, and I worry that we'll get snowed out. Hopefully this storm that's coming tonight will be our last for a few weeks!

We're leaving too next weekend Nemo, Thats my fear as well, not being able to get out of RI...Now getting stuck in Disney..That I have no problem with!
That happened to us a few years back, went for a long weekend, turned out while we were in Disney , RI had a huge storm.....DAM, we "had " to stay a couple days more!!!!

i can sympathize. last feb i was supposed to go with my brother's family. they were predicting a 30 inch blizzard. my brother and wife were both able to get off a day early, and head out (airlines let you rebook for free before a snowstorm).
my boss however.......nope, needed to be there. took me four days to get out....missed the HOOP DE DOO REVIEW! horrors!
so i understand how much it stinks....sorry.

This is why I always fly SW and keep an eye on the weather all week. If it's gonna snow, I get out a day early and don't have to worry about the ridiculous change of flight fees.

Actually, Delta and Airtran have been allowing those passengers who were flying with them (at least since Sunday) to change their flights free of charge. My wife is supposed to fly out of Hartsfield tomorrow, and that's still up in the air.....

Update...we're booked! Arriving on Saturday, March 5 and departing on the 10th. Airtran ended up giving us a full credit for our flight and the new flight was only about $20 more each, so not too bad. Unfortunately, we don't land until about 11:30 pm that night, but such is life. DVC was great and allowed me to put the points from this trip into a holding account. We've got the full stay booked at SSR - only studio accommodations available that whole week. We were really excited to stay at the BWV since we never have, but at this point, I'm just happy to be going!

Spent the morning dumping all my dining reservations and trying to get some for the March trip. Out of luck for LeCellier at this point, but I'll keep trying. Would rather be there than here today, but now I get to reset the countdown clock and look forward to March!

Overall, as much as it stinks, could have been worse. We're only out about $40 for flights and the 7 extra DVC points the stay will cost us in March over January (and no BWV :().

So....let the countdown begin....51 days!

So sorry your trip for this week got so screwed up...major bummer! Glad that you were able to get it rescheduled, though, and not lose a lot of money in the process :)

I leave for the World from Newark on February 19 for a week long trip, and this is my great fear- that something like this will happen the day I am traveling. Ironically enough, I connect through Atlanta. More cause for concern.

This is going to give me agita until my flight is wheels down at MCO, I'm sure.

Some areas got 5-8 inches and a coating of ice-we hardly have any equipment for the two times every 3-5 years this might happen-we are not going to collect taxes for hundred of millions of dollars for these few days-and you are welcome to stay up north where everything is perfect-in fact we would prefer it!!

Wow I will also be there that weekend. I can't believe there were no other studios available. Ouch . I will be at VWL. I hope its not too crazy in the parks.

I am so thrilled to hear you were able to rebook! That is great news. And while it may be a bummer you aren't there right now, just think you will be there before you know it! Congrats!

51 days is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Let the countdown begin!:sohappy:

Hope you get booked fast so you can look forward. We had to cancel a trip for the first time ever, it was for December for the party, decorations, etc. and my husband had something with work he could not avoid. I was bummed for about a week, but now we are booked for early March and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully you can at least book soon and then start making plans.

Just saw that you booked! Hey, we are there same week, see ya there!

Sorry about your cx trip, but congrats on the March booking!

Hopefully this is a lesson learned, and heads up for everyone else, to NOT fly AirTran. Obviouslly this storm is out of everyones control and many airlines had to cancel flights, however part of the deal with AirTran is that no other airlines work with them, and vice versa, when rebooking flights for any reason. Since your AirTran flight to MCO was cx, they offered you the next available AirTran flight to MCO. Versus United, Delta, Fronteir, Continnental, US Airways, etc all work together on getting their passengers to their destination ASAP.

I'm sooo happy you were able to re-book and with only minor fees involved. I'm really sorry the weather affected this weeks trip though. I would be heartbroken to miss a planned Disney trip. I think anyone who lives up north and deals with snow on a regular basis can certainly sympathize with your situation. This is always my biggest fear when it comes to traveling in the colder months. I fly out on 2/27 and my fingers are crossed that the weather cooperates as there is no room for adjusting our travel dates.

Have a wonderful trip in March. You will be arriving the day after I leave so I'll wave as I fly back over Atlanta on my way home to Ohio.

Thanks all! We're excited and feeling better now that everything is booked and we have things in place. Bummed about not getting to experience the BWV, but, to "ease the pain", I booked us for a couples massage at the SSR spa...a little payback for having to postpone!

Now just trying to firm up some ADR's....LeCellier must be slammed that week!

Hope all you fellow winter travelers avoid the nasty weather and make it down! I find it ironic that, living in Central IL, the ice/snow issue was in Atlanta rather than here! :ROFLOL:
