Trip Report Shanghai (K)nights (and days) - A Max Trip Report - COMPLETE

Hello to All
Welcome to my Trip Report to Japan and China!!
06496314-22C7-45A5-9126-A94BE927D5DB.jpeg

As per previous trips to the Orient this is a business trip with a few leisure detours along the way

The trip was from Nov 16 - Dec 9

It will include a visit of Shanghai Disneyland, and two weekend adventures to Hiroshima and Osaka.

I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did.

Max

PS
I am really struggling with my pictures for this TR. (this is one of many reasons why it has taken my so long to start it)
All pictures are from my iPhone 7 and my work phone (also a 7)
Every since I updated my iOS I cannot extract pictures from it.
I am trying to email them to myself and they are too big to download.
If anyone has advice please send it.

Quickly saying goodbye to my new friends I proceeded through the gate in SDL.

It really hit me at that point.
I had achieved my personal ultimate Disney goal
All 12 theme parks world wide at all 6 resorts.
Not to mention 5 resorts in a 12 month span (I really need to get back to Paris!)

I was trying to soak it in and take pictures as I walked out toward Storybook Castle

Yes - this is a generic castle for all Princesses - and even though that is the case it is stunning

So even though I was trying to live in the moment I could not deny the obvious

I was one of the first people into the park - on a Saturday - and I only have 1 day to tour.
Get your butt moving!!

So I headed over toward

16F2578B-D089-42A5-BE4E-0880298B129F.jpeg

First stop was Roaring Rapids , which is very similar to Grizzly River Rapids at DLR and Kali at DAK
I was told to hit this one early as it had an amazing animatronic (which it did)

IMG_7288.jpg

Verdict - Good raft ride but it was too cold to do this first thing and I did not enjoy getting wet.
Probably would be better on a hot/humid summer day at SDL.

Walked past the canoe ride - again too cold and too much like work at this point.

I stayed at the Hollywood Hotel at Hong Kong and it was a good theme but a little generic .
This TS hotel was bang on and reminded me of my two times staying at ASM in 2002 and 2003.
The statues were not as tall as Florida but the room theming was beter.
A trip report from someone in Waterloo! I'm from Kitchener. A little late to the part but following along now.
Holy small world batman
Great to have you along for the ride!!

I really enjoy the Cheesecake Factory (we do not have any in my part of Canada - maybe not at all in Canada)
But it is just the "go half way around the world to eat American food" thing.
Thanks for following

So I walked out of Adventure Isle (wet and not overly happy).
I had grabbed a FP to ride it again but I would not do it.
(I skipped Soarin because it is a copy of Florida/Cali - but in hindsight I wish I had picked up a FP for it instead of Roarin Rapids)

Adventure Isle has an amazing rope course attraction - I did not go on it because it is not my thing and it was cold
If my DD had been with me I would have been obliged to give it a go.

I walked by Treasure Cove and took some pictures
Plan was to return later.

Continued to walk and entered

This looked interesting but I knew it would still be there later

From the entrance to the maze you get yet another great view of the castle
1516547025580.png

And yes it was still chilly enough to keep the hoodie up
1516547076037.png

Next up was single rider line for the Mine Train

Back door entrance for us single folk

Line inside was only 15 min but I was essentially able to walk on.
They put me in the front car which took away from the fun of the ride.

This is a copy of the Magic Kingdom ride so no big surprises.

The gift shop was well themed

I found this quick service restaurant near the back of the park.

Day 2 cont’d - Peter Pan
The first new thing is the ride vehicle itself
2 rows per boat!!
Potential for 6 - most likely 4 passengers

The ride was extremely smooth, had many different scenes and the splash down effect when your boat landed in Neverland was impressive.
I tried to take pictures but they did not turn out.
I would like to have gone for another ride but only 1 day in the park crushed this idea.
Here are my pictures - hopefully you get a sense for the differences

I like the front row of 7DMT best!
You do bounce with Tigger in the MK.
Do you think the Frozen show would have been in English or Chinese? Cause if Chinese, you made the right call!
Disney finally got smart by making a larger capacity vehicle for Peter Pan.

I personally enjoy back of the train - at least for me - then again I am a back of the bus type
The "drops" are shorter when you are waiting for the back of the train to make it to the top.

And yes I know Florida Pooh ride has the bouncing Tigger (and Cali does not)
I am just having a brain fade on Shanghai - I am going go with yes you get to bounce with Tigger

The singalong was in Chinese (probably Mandarin) according to the youtube videos.
So it was the right call

Larger capacity meaning two rows so at least 4.
The joke in Japan when we boarded a skyway type car was it had a capacity of 8 Japanese but only 6 of us much wider foreigners!!

Thanks for following

Max

Great feature of the boats is the automatic hinged roof section that lifts up to avoid concussions!!

First up Beauty and the Beast
I should have done video because the music made the sets even better.
It was difficult to get pictures on the crowded boat

Especially when people kept trying to stand up even though even I could tell they were being told multiple times to sit down.

Walked around to the front of the castle and saw a bit of a show.
The castle is setup nicely with a tiered viewing area
