Trip Report Shanghai (K)nights (and days) - A Max Trip Report - COMPLETE

Hello to All
Welcome to my Trip Report to Japan and China!!
06496314-22C7-45A5-9126-A94BE927D5DB.jpeg

As per previous trips to the Orient this is a business trip with a few leisure detours along the way

The trip was from Nov 16 - Dec 9

It will include a visit of Shanghai Disneyland, and two weekend adventures to Hiroshima and Osaka.

I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did.

Max

PS
I am really struggling with my pictures for this TR. (this is one of many reasons why it has taken my so long to start it)
All pictures are from my iPhone 7 and my work phone (also a 7)
Every since I updated my iOS I cannot extract pictures from it.
I am trying to email them to myself and they are too big to download.
If anyone has advice please send it.

Day 2cont’d
After a quick look around the Marvel area I walked out toward the Castle and found the Dumbo ride
I did not ride it - just noted it is in an interesting spot in front of the castle (rather than behind like most Disney parks)

And now I go a little fanboi over the castle. (okay maybe a lot)
Even though I know it does not represent any particular princess it is a stunning piece of architecture .
Please enjoy the following collection of shots
(and yes - proof that I was actually present and not just stealing pics of the internet)
I wish it had been sunny!!

I really like the castle. To me it looks like a castle that would exist in reality and the other park's castles look like fantasy castles. I prefer fantasy but it is good that there is a park with something different.

I definitely plan on venturing to Hong Kong and Shanghai, so I’ll keep your Visa info in mind. We actually plan on traveling to Japan next whenever we do go.

I really like the wallpaper in your Toy Story themed room. An obvious touch but still a nice one!
I am glad the visa info might be helpful in the future
Japan is awesome (as you know because you have already been there)

Great job completing all Disney parks! I just have Shanghai and Hong Kong to go!
It was a bucket list item and I am glad I have done it!!

I haven’t done much research into the culture of visiting the parks in China, but I have to say the pushing past others in line surprises me. Japan was not like that at all! Paris was, but I expected that.
Wow!! The tron coaster looks amazing!
Japan and China are polar opposites.
Japan culture is built on respect for others - China not so much
And yes France was not the most polite spot either

You're making me reconsider my choice of honeymoon destination with this TR. SDL looks AMAZING!!!

Hold up. not so fast - it is a great place to visit but I would not reschedule the honeymoon (unless you are planning a tri fecta of doing all 3 Asia parks in one trip!!)

OMG--that Tron coaster sure looks like a blast!!
Oh yeah - big time!!

It’s good it wasn’t sunny. Castle pictures are much better with an overcast sky. Ask any photographer. 😉😊
Probably true but you have sunshine in your avatar picture and it looks pretty good to me ;)

hey, you're smiling - what more ya need?
matter of fact... everyone is.
I guess it was not that bad

seems like i've seen a lot of rainy/damp/overcast sdl footage
I was hoping for nicer weather but hey it was November

It really is a beautiful castle in terms of its detailing!! Great pictures Max :)
Thank you - I put it and DLP's castle as my top two

Maybe you hit the nail on the head - it looks more realistic - maybe that is why this a*#l retentive mechanical engineer likes it???

the castle is beautiful but doesn't seem as welcoming as MK's. Perhaps it's the walls and more browns?

Can't wait to hear about Pirates!

It does have a certain imposing look to it - but it blows you away in person!!
Pirates review to come later (after ride number 2)

I was looking down at my park map
The person in front of my moved up.
I did not
The person behind me brush past me - making contact with me - and took my spot
In a line with ropes on each side (switchback)
I did not pause long - maybe 30 seconds.

It is the culture I am told - but to me it is still rude
Later in the day at Pirates I literally had to have one hand on the rope and one against the wall to stop a guy from pushing past me.
It is crazy and not a fun experience to have to hold your ground.
I have heard parties locking arms together in lines to stop it from happening.

End of rant
Sounds similar to watching castle lighting and fireworks in Magic Kingdom! We had a similar experience with people not respecting our personal space (MULTIPLE PEOPLE)!

Sorry I'm late, but following along! These are so so cute!!!!
Thank you for joining in!

I agree people stepping in front of you for FW is annoying and disrespectful.
In my case I think it was worse.
It was a defined line , with ropes, and we were progressing forward in a normal fashion up to that point.
I simply did not move forward one time and the person behind me thought it was okay to pass me.
Again - I get it - it is cultural - this is how they normally do this sort of thing.
It just is not how I show respect for other people.

That castle is beautiful. Something about it reminds me of Westminster Abbey though I’m not sure why.
I had never thought of that one but I get that it looks like something you would expect to actually see outside of Disney.
@Kiwiduck said it best in a previous post

Next up was a trip down the rabbit hole

This maze is completely based on the new Alice movie

First off - choose a door!!

I am not really a big fan of the new movie but for those that are please enjoy!!

This door growled at anyone that got close to it
