Trip Report Shanghai (K)nights (and days) - A Max Trip Report - COMPLETE

Hello to All
Welcome to my Trip Report to Japan and China!!

As per previous trips to the Orient this is a business trip with a few leisure detours along the way

The trip was from Nov 16 - Dec 9

It will include a visit of Shanghai Disneyland, and two weekend adventures to Hiroshima and Osaka.

I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did.

I am really struggling with my pictures for this TR. (this is one of many reasons why it has taken my so long to start it)
All pictures are from my iPhone 7 and my work phone (also a 7)
Every since I updated my iOS I cannot extract pictures from it.
I am trying to email them to myself and they are too big to download.
If anyone has advice please send it.

Day 1 cont’d
Grabbed bus back to the hotel and arrived around 9pm
Took pictures around the hotel inside (since yes, it was still raining)

This was inside the cafeteria that I was going to have breakfast at the next day - it was closed but I snuck in and took a picture.

Woohoo! Another Max TR! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I will do my best to provide a lot more!!

The statue makes me want a Mike Wazowski (sp?) tsum tsum (we have a collection of at least 100 between plush and figures but no mike and I’ve never seen him as a tsum tsum before)

Just wait till you see the rest of the statues!! You might have to buy even more!!

Almost didn’t spot ya there! I love that you throw in these selfies so we know you’re actually there

Maybe you can download an app for your phone like imgur? I use imgur for my pics, and I know they have an app, though I've never used the app, but maybe if you download an app, you can upload your photos through that on your phone to the app, and then use your laptop to write and post pics from the web version of the app

I tried to do that with google photo app and had the same result ( not seeing all pics)
But I am willing to give it another shot

Day 2 - Saturday Nov 18 - SDL!!
So after a less than ideal sleep ( jet lag, different bed and pillow, etc) I woke up around 4am
Problem is that my breakfast did not open till 6:30 and the park did not open till 9am
So I found this on the TV (Note the time) and listened to music will I tried to convince myself to sleep a little more.

And yes @Tuvalu - just more confusion over my name
Is it Max, is it Andrew, is it Clarence!!!
The answer is d) - all of the above!

Finally gave up and got up/showered and dressed for the park
Decided to wear my Hong Kong DL souvenir on this day

It was gloomy and chilly out but at least the rain had stopped
Heading down to the lobby and took more pictures along the way

Schedule for the day

I was first (and only person) in line at 6:30am for breakfast
Buffet style - I went with the Western style
I took more pictures but it must have been on Sunday so they will show up eventually

(and yes I was hungry by this point having been awake since 4am!!)

No mickey waffles but this was cute

I went up for seconds but did not take anymore pics

(hey at least I took some food shots - this is a challenge for me to take a picture before diving in)

Ate fast and grabbed a bus before 7am

Walked up into Disney Town
Did not go in - just a picture to show that Starbucks are everywhere!!!!

Walked toward the front entrance and found this fountain

Entrance way with some Christmas decorations ( it was relative subdued Christmas celebration at this point)

And this.... this was the lineup at a little after 7am ( 2 hours before opening)!!
This amount of people time 2!! (one line up on either side of the gates)
2 hours !!!

Fortunately for me I had a private entrance through Disneytown that was for hotel guests only!!
So I walked around a bit

Across the water is the Disneyland hotel ( deluxe).
I think it is technically further away than the Toy story hotel

Day 2 cont’d - time for "tsum"ore pictures

Okay Tsum Tsum lovers - here are more pics for you (with me in them of course!)

The outside of the Lego store and where I ate dinner last night

The Walt Disney Grand Thearte (just finished showing Lion King and now showing Beauty and the Beast)

Private hotel entrance - was first in line at 7:45am

I think we know where this door goes to ... (and I checked it was locked)

We did a selfie just before they opened the gates
Just to my right is a couple from Shanghai
Right behind them is a couple from Japan (Osaka area)
We had a nice talk
The girl from Japan had lived in California so we talked about DLR for awhile

Next up: Max enters his 12th Disney Theme park in his 6th resort ( so pumped up!!!)

I will admit, there is a part of me that totally wants to rearrange those colored block seats.

I think I must be the only person who just doesn't understand the TsumTsum craze. I think they look kind of creepy and I can't tell who most of them are supposed to be. It just doesn't make sense to me. And it seems I'm also the only person who isn't a Toy Story Fan. (don't shoot me, please!) I mean, it's fine...I kind of enjoyed the first movie, but it's one of my least favorite Disney films.

Day 2 cont'd
Before I go any further I just wanted to give an overview of the resort and the actual park

I stayed at the Toy Story hotel on the left side of this illustration
I could have probably walked it in 15-20 min to the park but it was either cold, dark, raining or all of the above so I used the bus

At the bottom of the page is the DLH - across the water

The Wishing Star Park is described as a recreational area that includes a large amphi theatre.
It has bike rentals, trails, etc.
I did not go this time.

This is an illustration of the park and Disney Town (bottom right hand corner)
The park has 6 lands and a lot of space to grow.

The main entrance is at the bottom middle but at the end of Disney Town is the entrance to the park that I used.

Hopefully this will help as I continue the report.
