I really could care less about your opinion of the attraction, I for one like it. If you don't like CBJ that is on you. However, when your opinion demoralizes the attraction by placing stereotypes of a era, for which the attraction belongs, well you are just ignorant. There are plenty of people you dislike CBJ, but don't bash it in the way you did. Generalizing it at "racist," and "hicks" shows your lack of intelligence, and care for the historical value of CBJ to Disney World. If you want to get your point across there are other ways of doing so.

+1!!!!

go back and re-read the comment I replied to. the OP was shooting down a notion that, and i'm paraphrasing, she isn't a liberal who is trying to infuse race into everything. that's where politics came in.

your above reply is an issue for another forum.

it's all good! obviously, this discussion is a little wacky, so sometimes it can be kind of hard to tell the sane from those who are coming from somewhere out in left field.

p.s. maaaaama don't whiiiiiiiip little buforrrrrrrd

After some more thought on this matter, I think that switching to hip-hop is unreasonable. It creates a chasm that's just too big for traditionalists appreciators to accept. I propose a compromise that I think will make everyone happy. In the refurbishment they can switch the musical style to hick-hop instead.

Folks have become way too self centered these days. Because as an individual someone doesn't like something or doesn't get something, they want to get rid of it or they ridicule it. It's not just Disney things, but life in general. If I don't like something or don't get it, I just don't partake in it. Why should my wants or needs dictate what other millions of people should be able to do or enjoy? I simply don't understand the mentality that one person thinks their opinions are more important than the opinions of others.

That's how great people achieve things..by thinking your idea is better than whats out there then proving it. I am simply surveying the land and seeing what everyone thinks. And i am not saying i am one of those great people my greatest accomplishment today was not getting any ketchup on my t-shirt eating lunch.

I like it! But was that guy a racists or what? :)

i don't know i only see white bears in the background..first sign. But i will say that it sounds like he has gas the whole way through the song...like i said..that type of hokey music is from a lost generation..you can preserve it if you like but i wouldn't build an attraction around it.

I'm very happy that you have finally thought before posting....I actually had to "like" your post!

Perhaps you could start doing that more often?

BTW..it's not really about being traditional...it's about being appreciative.

So racist, hicks stuck in the past, bad taste in music and you say we don't like anyone different and stereotype people

not sure if you are talking to me..but i was born in the south and love the kindness and hospitality of most people there! I don't think the ride is offensive in the sense that it actually makes anyone feel bad..its just offensive to me that its not any funnier than it was 30 years ago...not even one new joke?

It's the new American way. I will decide for you what you should see and how you should feel about it. End of discussion.:p

that works both way skipper! if you think the old stuff is so great you don't want to give anyone else a chance to come up with something isnt that the same thing? You think Elvis was happy that america embraced the beatles? Guess who was....America

I have got the perfect solution to make everyone happy...Bring back the adventurers club, make the country bears the entertainment, have the dream finder working the crowd and then once you get drunk enough mr toad can drive you home!

Or, you could stop trying to aggrevate everyone who enjoys CBJ and accept the fact it's not going anywhere....

Well, skippy...that isn't at all what I said. I would have no problem at all with something new, I just don't buy into the "I don't like it...get rid of it" position. Why can I not still be able to see something I like without it sacrificing something else for you to enjoy. Based on my post that you quoted, I was reflecting on what seems to be an underlying situation in our country today. Everyone seems to know what is best for everybody. I never claimed that. I just would like to still have choices and not have someone say that "it's garbage, you don't need it. I know best".

I personally don't like the basis of having Captain EO back at Disney. MJ had his day and since that time very visibly displayed that he had changed in a very negative way. The idea that Disney, of all places decided to exploit his death just plain hits me as inappropriate. I'd like to see it gone, but only because it just seems wrong on many different levels. I am not about to call for it's removal, but you will never see me at the show. Apparently many folks like it. Perhaps even more than they did originally.

Going to your Elvis example...his popularity declined as tastes changed in music. However, if he were alive today and still doing live concerts the lines to see it would be wrapped around the block. You might not go or I might not go because I liked the Beatles more (my tastes) but that doesn't mean that I would call for Elvis to be banned from performing because he wasn't my style.

i completely understand its not going anywhere just like to start a hot potato thread every now and then! Didn't think it would be this much of button with most people. Maybe a more reasonable line of view would be the crappy 3-d movies they keep putting next to figment! With the library they have...rick moranis or michael jackson

I dont think it would have been such a "button" with most people if you had articulated your opinion a little better in the original post. Like I already stated, words like racist and redneck are inflammatory words that are going to illicit a negative reaction. Especially when you did not provide any support or argument for the use of said words. Had you have cut those words out the discussion would have been more civil, and members would have been more open to your opinion.

i don't know how you can articulate it more than saying they look like racist stereotypes of southern people...and if they aren't rednecks and meant to be...i don't know what the word means. By the way so is Mater, but somehow nobody else in radiator springs is...but mater is the only funny one..my problem is more with the humor than the sterotype

No, just those that throw out words like "racist," and then ridicule fans of older attractions they consider to be classics.

Just because something is old doesn't make it a classic...i have a pair of socks with 3 holes in them from 98...It does fit the western theme so i get it, but how about having some smarter yogi bear schooled bears in the show.
