Scrim Over TTA's Progress City

Walt had an unshakable believe in American industry, wanted his city populated by productive citizens, and sought desperatly to limit government involvement.

It's called 'being a Republican'.

Nothing to do with dictatorships.
In the city of EPCOT, no residents would own property nor would they vote. All the people would work for TWDC (or the various EPCOT sponsors) and Walt (along with his chosen executives) would run the entire show. Unions would be banned. If Walt didn't like you, you'd be kicked out of EPCOT faster than the launch of the Rockin' Roller Coaster. Sorry, but it would have definitely been a total dictatorship.

It was all about doing things the way Walt wanted them done without any pesky outside influence from shareholders, politicians, unions, government or other godless communist agitators (as he called them).

This has nothing to do do with anything, but reading this, it sounds like it could be the opening line on the back of the new 2K video game

Bioshock EPCOT

Sorry had to let my nerd out.

This model has so much history but I reckon the average Peoplemover-rider just looks at it and forgets it 5 seconds later. Such a shame that it has been hacked into such a small section and that it doesn't do half as many things as it was designed to do... Well, scrims up, let's see what they do!

My Family has lived in Orlando for 5 generations. Its very exciting and almost depressing to know that an idea this revolutionary and forward thinking was almost built in my back yard. So, yes some of us do get a little excited and overprotective when we hear something is happening to one of the few remnants left of a dying man's unrealized dream. Forgive us.

And by the way, as far as I understand, no one was forcing anyone to live there. If someone had a problem with the way things were run, they could leave. No one wants a sourpuss as a neighbor anyway, regardless of how Clever their Name is.

Where is the rest of the model? Also, Why don't they use a vacant Hollywood Studios building and turn it into "The Model" and let it house EVERY model they have for any Disney Park or idea.. It would get people out of lines and people would spend HOURS looking at them.
Not sure if youarebeing sarcastic but isn't that "One Man's Dream"?

If I recall they didnt go with the city Idea because they didnt want to tackle a project so big and complex without the guidance of Walt to do it also the more I think about it the more that city and bio shock seem similar lol

There was some waffling. Lake Buena Vista for a time was deemed the "host community of Walt Disney World." It was to be anchored by the shopping village and hotel district, then built out from there.

Perhaps they should rework TTA with short montages of Walt explaining progress city and EPCOT? That way, when you get to the Progress City model, but are not a Disney Nut, you actually know what you are looking at and the significance of it?

They could do that...they already have a lot of the props and footage on display from the "Florida Film" at the One Mans' Dream exhibit in DHS
