I know! I've gleaned from posts on here that there were plenty of cameras in the room, yet not one video from Saturday yet.
It must be a conspiracy...There is no other logical explanation.:lookaroun

I wonder if the mouse had a talk with youtube and put some sort of moratorium on AC videos being posted.

Perhaps the House of Wong and Jinkies ("We love 'em!") didn't want the bad publicity for deciding not to continue their sponsorships. :drevil:

I admire your spirit, but if your trip to WDW was solely based on one nights experiance in PI, perhaps WDW isn't the place for you anyway.

Pleasure Island and Downtown Disney and AC were built to be just a part of the Disney Experiance, not the whole vacation.
You're right. WDW isn't the place for me.

Disneyland is.

Well it looks like you guys really dropped the ball on this one.

Way to fail us out of staters.

I'm sorry you guys failed at saving the AC, since it was sure to succeed from the get go...

Anybody know what the deal is with the letter they are showing on Screamscape?
Supposedly they were handing them out on Saturday night. I didn't get one, and can't figure out what it might mean.

They've handed out sealed envelopes randomly to Guests over the years. They're just a little bit of a "magical moment" for a few Guests a night. My friend got one in 2007 from the Maitre'd (whom I didn't see when I was there a few weeks ago. He's been at the AC for YEARS).

They're sealed envelopes with postage and addressed to the Club. Inside is a random letter from one club member to another. It appeared to be actually typed up on a manual typewriter and not printed out on a printer.
I saw four different letters (still sealed, I believe) being auctioned off on ebay last week.

Usually they'd only give a few out each night. My guess is that they had a ton left over, so they were handing them out freely on the last night.

The letter is from a man named Alston Golf. I was trying to wrap my brain around whether or not Alston was equivocal word - anyone? Golf might be a rib at the premium passholders being offered a round of golf at the Oak Trail Golf Course.

The letter is addressed to Mr. Henshaw. There is a childrens book of a similar name and background in letter writing called "Dear Mr. Henshaw" by Beverly Cleary. It's a coming of age story of a child who writes to Mr. Henshaw and continues writing for many years to him - despite no reply. I haven't read it, but it's fairly short.

What's interesting is that the letter is printed on certified bond 25% cotton fiber. This paper is used mostly in legal settings since it takes longer for the quality to diminish. The letter mentions litigation.

Golf is restricted by legal issues to tell Henshaw his displeasure with his tarpit "marina." Pleasure Island is a man-made island and is covered in concrete.

His yacht was much better than the other yachts in the marina during Golf's stay. Yachts could signify clubs and the Adventurers Club was the "King of the Earth, ruler of the Sea, Lord of all mankind." The other yachts/clubs could not stay afloat. Perhaps this is some tie in to the Yacht and Beach Club?

I'm having trouble with the next paragraph though. Something occurred with Golf's sanitation system on his yacht.

Anyone? :hammer:

Alas I was unable to get inside the AC on the last night it was open. I'm hoping all of the crazies actually got decent video of the final hoopla (hoopla!) and will upload it to youtube soon....

I received 2 letters the last couple nights of the cloob being open and I will leave them sealed for now. I know one is from Pamelia Perkins because I've seen it before.

Pleasure island has run it's course and I was just there this morning and the signs for Motion and 8Trax have already been taken down/covered up. Disney has wasted no time in the island's demise...

Did they mix something like that into the story on the final night?

I've heard that they didn't raise enough money during the Radiothon, though I'm not sure of the details.

I was at both the final Radio-a-thon and Hoopla. They did indeed fail to raise enough money at the end. Hathaway Browne and co. came marching in towards the end announcing that they'd received a check for something like $937 or so, assuming that the Radio-a-thon had earned plenty during the show. They all lament over the loss of the Club, Pamelia saying they'll keep it going even if they have to meet in someone's basement or something. And then they get a mysterious message regarding some sort of reprieve involving someone from their past who will show up at the Hoopla. I was speculating that it might be Club Founder Merriweather Pleasure, which would have been awesome, totally appropriate for a send-off, a great way to provide a sort of ending to the story for the entire Island. The mystery guest turned out to be the old monkey butler, who turned out to be filthy, stinking rich, and offered to take the permanent Adventurers traveling.

They were handing out a lot of them the last few nights. I happened to snatch one while I was sitting in the Treasure Room, Pamelia poked her head in and threw a bunch all over the place ("Go crazy, people!"). I'd never seen these letters before, but someone was saying to me that they used to leave them in some of the drawers and things around the Club for people to discover. Jim Hill has a neat personal anecdote about having one of these letters delivered to him personally by Graves around when the Club opened for the first time, along with a Hathaway Browne business card! I'm not planning on opening mine just so that I might keep the Adventure alive permanently in my own little way.

Edit: I also forgot to mention that they were also handing out scrolls at random with the Adventurer's Club Creed on it, signed by Merriweather Pleasure. Kirk, for those of you who know who he is, handed us ours as we marched out of the Radio-a-thon.

Those letters could be found in the desk drawers in the desk just to the right, as you entered the club(Among other places). There were also tiny shark teeth in some of those drawers:shrug:...

This is just another example of how wonderfully detailed and themed the AC really was. It was honestly the most we executed experience Disney has ever done for the parks. Honestly, nothing can top the AC. Whether it was the duck phone, or just the tiny nuances of the mask room, the AC was truly a sight to behold.

aaahhh, Kirk handed us one of those shark teeth one night a few weeks ago and I thought "random, where did he get this from?" but he always made a point to chat with my and my other half each time he saw us so I didn't think a whole lot of it.

Kirk is honestly one of the nicest people I have ever met, and one of the most loyal cast members. I was a regular during my CP program, and he always took the time to talk to me and my fellow skippers. I've heard he's headed for the Contemporary, so make sure you pay him a visit next time you can.

Ah, the duck phone. I remember seeing it, but I never thought to pick it up and take a listen. Was there anything special about it, like the Market House party line phone?
