But you're acting like Disney has given out concrete details and information to the resort guests, when they haven't. They've given out *no* concrete details because they aren't ready to (or perhaps in some cases they don't even know the details yet themselves).

99.9% of the guests in the parks right now would have *no* idea what the heck a "Magic Band" was if you walked up and asked them. Yes, Disney has mentioned that these things are coming, and that further information will be given at a future date. Would you prefer that they kept silent, didn't even *mention* the MagicBands', etc existence until they had every detail worked out?

Though I guess perhaps that might've been a better option, given all the people coming here to WDWMagic and asking "will there be MagicBands for my trip on such-and-such date? how do I get one?" when not even the most thoroughly-informed members know the answer...

That's a valid point. I'll give you that.

Then again, there is the question of "exactly what the hell are they doing?" I'm not even sure if they know

Damn son, even I don't go that often. Also, that's a lot of food & You forgot the backscratchers at the Polynesian.
I wish you all nothing but the best and hope that you keep in mind that there are those of us who envy you the opportunity to go to WDW whenever the spirit moves you.
My ultimate fantasy is to win Powerball and move to Golden Oaks. Yep, I am All Disney All The Time.

I understand that. However, there are times when i just Choose not to go. Like right now through the mid April; It is spring break and you have to avoid interstate four in the vicinity of Disney. It backs up 5 miles in each direction.

.... And I think golden oak still has some availability in it. There is a very nice Publix not far from there either.

On the other hand, yes. It is nice to be able to go watch fireworks whenever I want to.

Some of the things that we argue for war once as passholders is an attempt to in sure that the regular day guests get the same thing and the same experience that we do. For instance, we have noticed a significant decline in the quality of dining food Since the introduction of the Disney dining plan. We want every attraction to be working during peak season And to be working correctly. There is nothing worse than trying to ride Pirates of the Caribbean four times in four days only to find it closed for "technical difficulties" each time you walk up.

All that aside? I highly recommend the pineapple spiced rum Dole whip during the flower and wine festival.

(Apologies for any typos. I used voice to text for this entire post from my phone.)

Genius that I am, last year I tried to book us for March; and had Spring Break explained to me by the friendly folks at Disney Travel. My bad. So off we went at the end of April instead, just like we are going this year. I wish I had the "entry level" money required for Golden Oaks, hence my desire to win Powerball. LOL!
I can strongly recommend the Frenched lamb chops at Saratoga Springs, they were delightful. And yes, I agree that the Disney experience should be as equal as possible for Annual Passer's and us Once A Year'ers. We've never done the Dining Plan as we are "pick and choosers" as to where we want to dine and frequently it's a, "Let's go over to Shula's Steakhouse or Hey, how about hitting France or China tonite". I'm sure you know how it is. But the buffet at the Beach Club is a must at least once during our week there.
Typos don't matter to me, I ain't the spelling/grammar police.
Keep having those magical days! And remember what Grace said, "One pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small, and the pills that that mother gives you don't do anything at all. Go ask Alice when she's ten feet tall." i have a pretty cool story about Alice from when our youngest (now 26 years old) was 5. But heck fire, everybody has (or should have) a cool WDW story.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I've been wondering... if your non-Magicband-wearing son or daughter sees and hears Mickey address the kid in front of them by their name, how are they themselves going to feel when Mickey doesn't recognise them? ...Maybe something like this :(
I can't imagine they would put Magicband folks and non-Magicband folks together. This would only take place in locations where there are multiple rooms, like Mickey's theatre.

If you are wondering when you can get a Band/RFID AP, it was reported by both Touring Plans and Attractions Magazine yesterday that WDW will start allowing AP's to switch on March 20th.

The existing FastPass kiosks will eventually be eliminated for FastPass+. You'll get your return time in advance or day of online, either through your own device or ones set up by Disney. The master profile will also be able to make reservations for other associated profiles.

I tried FastPass+ and I hated it! I hope that the current fastpass system doesn't disappear completely.

From personal experience, Ive rehabbed wisdom tooth extractions while at MK & on some serious painkillers. It improves the experience and I highly recommend, if that is what your doctor has prescribed.

I don't care if Mickey knows my name (or my kids' names for that matter) but if he is going to talk to us it would be great if something told him he had just seen us at lunch. My kids catch on to things that lead to questions like, "Mom, if Santa Claus knows if I have been bad or good then why do I have to tell him my name, more than that- Why did I have to tell him my name every year?" That never goes well for the families behind us in line!

This please! It would be great just for characters to know they've met that family before. We go to a lot of character greetings and with the saturation level of the popular characters, one can quite easily end up meeting a character more than once. There must be other children like mine, who only loves character greetings. On one trip alone we went through the Fairies room six times. It would have been amazing if Tink had known how many times we'd come to see her.

With all the possible negative aspects of MagicBands I think some of the positive things have been overlooked. I would like it if WDW knew me as a "regular," as a small business would. Such as, knowing special dietary needs without having to flag them on each dining reservation... knowing I almost always stay in the same hotel... knowing I spend 40% of my day looking for and waiting for characters, as stated above... knowing which tours I've already done and suggesting others. I honestly wouldn't mind WDW "remembering" what I do when I visit. I would certainly appreciate that sort of memory in a local small business where I was a repeat customer.

Back to the original topic.... it's not that a Magicband specifically will be required, it's that some character M&Gs will only be FP+ enabled. Meaning if you do not book a FP+ for that character, you won't be able to see said character. There are not many (none at MK will be this way), as it'll be more common to have dual operations (such as TST is currently set up).

Everyone will have a FP+ option: on-site, off-site, Passholders, CMs... it's just prioritizing what you want to do. Not as big of a deal as I think people are thinking it would be.

FP+ will replace the normal FP system completely. There will be only one FP system and it will be FP+, but is basically still the same system but the entry media is different and it interfaces with MM+.

There will be 2 character spots that will use FP+ at Epcot but will have normal standby lines also.
