Rumor confirmations

They based Buena Vista Street off of Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards in DHS, just from an earlier time period (1920s in DL vs 1940s in DHS). And Cars Racers is a more advanced, state of the art version of Test Track's ride system.
Thank you!:) So... does that mean the new TT will be updated like that? I guess not, since they're keeping the track the same?;)

Personally, if I were armchair engineering, I'd love to see a South America / Amazon section added to AK, and 'Up' be the main attraction for that area along with some highly themed animal enclosure areas. Make the ride system look like Carl and Ellie's chairs with balloons attached and simulate 'floating' through Paradise Falls.
That idea would be very cool. I feel Animal Kingdom is the park that is most undervalued in WDW. It has so much potential to do things, and maybe its budget constraints or whatever, but I just feel like there is so much that can be done there. It needs a DCA type revamp. The themes in the park are spectacular, there just isn't enough to do. I go with my family and we have some elderly family members that can't take the heat at animal kingdom. We can only do a few things that are in a/c like the Nemo show (which imo, has no connection to Dinoland, but I digress) Disney claims you can fit all 3 other parks inside animal kindgom..well then use that space!! I don't know what they are waiting for. Avatar, Austrailia (where the nemo show would go) and now a good idea for South America featuring an Up ride. The possibilities are endless.

Great idea! That could even work on a Soarin type of ride system if you think about it. Or something similar to Peter Pan where its all over head.

They proposed more of a Fantasyland style dark ride, but it's the same idea. If WDI did build an UP ride, I would prefer that they build Paradise Falls as its exterior. That would be jaw dropping.

Now that's a great idea! Paradise Falls would be a real sight to see in person. Hearing more opinions from people, I actually equally enjoy the idea of an "Up" attraction in Animal Kingdom as much as Epcot. I think if the attraction were ever built it should only be considered in those two parks. I've always thought integrating a Bambi based attraction would be unique in Animal Kingdom as well but nailing the actual theme and place for it is the real issue. Something like that could be better suited in Critter Country or Grizzly Peak in Disneyland perhaps.

Um, with respect to the time periods of DHS, this isn't entirely true.

The architecture, appearance and show of buildings in DHS spans a few decades. From turn of the century through the 40's. Look left as you walk down hollywood blvd and you go from turn of the century design/appearance straight through to the 40s. I will also submit that the cast member skits performed on Hollywood blvd are far more in line with 20's-30's era Hollywood.

That ride system shown in the patent wasn't though.
As lee could tell you, a ride system doesn't necessarily mean we're getting an Up ride. For example, the swinging car tech that will be used on the SDMT was initially created in the 1990's for a Indy mine coaster. Would I totally want an Up ride? Yes, but it's very helpful to be cautiously optimistic when it comes to looking at patent portfolios for any company.

I know all of that, but you told the poster that the ride system wasn't created by WDI and was created by college students, in which it wasn't. Was just trying to clear that up, sorry.

Pretty cool idea/design.
I may have missed it but was it reported who (Imagineers or other) were the judges?
I jokingly ask because the comp for the final scene shows an "Exit through Gift Shop" footnote.:D
