Rumor confirmations

I could also see them adding stuff to DHS now that they basically just replaced DCA with a clone of it with some plussing done like the red car trolley. While you've got all the research done and people who can make these things for you, why not just go for it now, rather than later and have to re-research, dig up the old plans, etc.

This thread is a great example of the vast difference in Forum members.

The thread starter brings up some rumors for discussion. So far there have been replies from Jimmy Thick, Lee and Jim Handy. Read them and what can you conclude? Lee and Jim Handy add some nice insight, telling the rest of us what they know or at least as much as they can tell us. Jimmy Thick's response has to do with a Walt Disney hologram answering questions using a Magic 8 ball. I rest my case.
I can't agree more.

If the hat does in fact get taken down I really hope that they can have it placed behind The Great Movie Ride. I actually like the hat as the icon of the park, it's just a shame that it blocks another beloved attraction of the Hollywood Studios. I really hope that a Pixar Place expansion takes place as well, the idea of a Monsters Inc. Door-Coaster would just fit so well with that section.

I'm not sure about you guys but I wouldn't mind seeing Lights, Motor, Action! be replaced with either another show or just take full advantage of all that space for more attractions. The space that LMA takes place is quite a lot and I'm sure the potential for new and exciting attractions could be endless. If they did stick with the live show format, maybe an Incredibles Stunt Show would be cool to see?

In my oh so humble opinion, I think it is time for the Backlot Tour to go. It is just a shell of its former glory. I really liked it when it first opened, but its time to put it to pasture. LMA also takes up too much real estate. Those two pads would make a ton of room for new rides.

1. Walt Disney himself will be re-Imagined as a hologram where anyone can ask him questions including people currently under the employ of the Disney Company. His answers will be from a Magic-8 ball but this should put to bed the constant argument of "What would Walt do".

Jimmy Thick- Gotta lurve modern technology.

That would be awesome actually! :p

How would you place the Hat behind the Chinese Theatre without it looking as though the Chinese Theatre was wearing the hat? Directly behind the Chinese Theatre is the transition between Mickey Ave and Pixar Place, so it would have to be built over the walkway or on top of Toy Story Midway Mania!.

But I've also heard the hat, RSR and Monsters over the past few years so it's not all bad.

I would imagine RSR at DHS would be a modified dark ride-only version, similar to the way Nemo was modified for DL and Epcot?

I just don't see TDO approving the full RSR, and not just because of the cost. I think the similarities to TT would be too great. Plus, I'd be interested to see if they could pull off a unique variation, like maybe a WoM "Speed Tunnel" or USH King Kong-type effect.

Thanks for clearing this up, I wasn't really familiar enough if it was structurally possible for it to go behind the Chinese Theater or not. I'd rather see it be built over the walkway if anything. Thanks again for the clearing this up.

I like the backlot tour but I also feel it can be used for so much more if that and LMA is taken out it could lead to a major expansion to the only park that could be majorly effected by a potter expansion at universal

I like #8, as I would hope for some sort of Star Wars land I know it's highly unlikely.I believe this is the best concept to counter Harry Potter. The Star Wars concept appeals to such a large audience and as much as I like the muppets it just doesn't hold the fan base to warrant a larger attraction.

I just found this forum and this is my first post. I've been going to disney world my whole life and I'm always interested in new rumors whenever they circulate. I think the Avatar land can certainly give the animal kingdom a face lift by providing nighttime entertainment that will allow the park to be open after dark. The fact that it closes so early, even during the summer months, is a major reason as to why people consider it a half-day park. There are no details on the types of attractions that will be in the area, but I'm sure that once they eventually remove FoTLK and the rest of CMM, there will be a lot of room for expansion (I'm hoping for a show, an E-ticket and least a dark ride ...because a dark ride is the one thing animal kingdom lacks) As for the Hollywood Studios, I feel like a Star Wars land is gonna be pushing it. Although I'm a huge Star wars fan, think Star Tours 2, the jedi academy, and Star wars weekends is enough from that franchise. Also, that is why I feel Universial is making a mistake with Harry Potter. They found a topic to rival disney but now they are just going overboard adding another Harry Potter land. I feel that is going to backfire on them and they aren't going to take much away from disney. As for things to add to the Hollywood Studios, I wouldn't mind removing the Beauty and the Beast show since they are adding the entire area in the magic kingdom dedicated to that. also I feel like princess stuff shouldn't be in the Hollywood Studios (except for maybe fantasmic) cause it doesnt fit with the themeing of the tower of terror and rockin roller coaster right next door. I would like to see pixar place be expanded, but without the carsland because I feel that they can do a lot more with the space that will take up. Add a monster's inc coaster next to toy story, then maybe something with Up? (i like that movie, only reason why I'm saying that) and I'm sure there will be plenty of pixar movies in the future if one of the past movies doesn't fit the bill of an E-ticket attraction. Other than that I would like to see the Avatar land go up first, then deal with the Hollywood Studios. But thats just my opinion.

I fully support seeing an "Up" attraction in the parks! I adore the film and think it's got a lot going for it as far as attractions being based on it. Personally, I envision an "Up" attraction working well in Epcot mainly because of the journey that Russell and Carl go on that explores exotic locations and what not. An attraction based on the film could send the characters to so many other unique places with the use of the balloon floating house which would make such a great visual treat. With a theme like that and World Showcase being in the same park, it could be a cool opportunity.

Regarding DHS, be careful what you wish for. I've heard some proposals may not be exactly stellar.

But I've also heard the hat, RSR and Monsters over the past few years so it's not all bad.

as long as we're talking wish list, couldn't they find a way to expand the hollywood-of-old feel in the park? maybe i'm alone in this, but i'd love more areas that feel like the brown derby than pixar place. i'd also love if we could get things at the brown derby that had been cut (like the piano player, derby-shaped butter) back, too.

Trust me, you're not alone there. I can't wait to get to Disneyland next week and experience Buena Vista Street in person. What they've done there looks incredible and I absolutely eat up that old-school Hollywood imagery. The more of that in DHS, the better, in my opinion.

Actually it would make the most sense to relocate the hat to fantasmic as part of the entrance or somewhere in view...

Or perhaps the portion sizes, or number of entrees offered (not the price...)

YES! I dig Old Hollywood and that theme needs to make a bold return to DHS. First step, get rid of the STUPID UGLY HAT. ;)

We need time for things to happen.
Forgive me, but I'm not "up on it" when it comes to tracking every little rumor so forgive me if these have already been settled in the "community."

1. When the Grand Floridan Spa reopens, the spa at Saratoga Springs will be closing for a similar refurb.

2. The "glow ears" from World of Color will be incorporated into MK's nighttime entertainment.

3. Avatar Land WILL make DAK a full-day park and feature a nighttime spectacular.

4. Avatar Land will feature a "flex" restaurant similar to "Be Our Guest" that is quick-service by day, table service by night.

5. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom will be "locked" on easy mode until September at the earliest. This is due to overcrowding of the portals, not technical issues.

6. The next "articulated character" to be developed is Beast. The "core" characters have articulated heads at Dream Along With Mickey and other stage shows. Baloo and King Louie also have articulated heads on the cruise ships.

7. River Country/Ft. Wilderness DVC has been cancelled.

8. Major changes coming to DHS sooner rather than later. Details are fuzzy but some old blueprints have risen from the ash heap of WDI.

9. Decisions HAVE been made regarding Downtown Disney. I don't know what those decisions are, but I'm told an announcement won't be far off.

Thanks for this post. Sounds like a lot of cool and enticing rumors.

I've been trying to confirm #8 for a few weeks. Not sure there is fire, but there is a little bit of smoke.

Having Lee add this only helps to add to your clout.

Sorry to hear that number 8 isn't\wasn't "Lucasland" - I still can't understand why this hasn't happened already.
