What @disneytrain2001 said.

The coaches and a quick glimpse of the tender is all that could be seen anyway. But man it was good to hear that Lonergan.
IMO, if Roger is now wearing his current Lonergan 3.5 inch 3-chime, I want Walter to wear a Crosby with the same diameter size and number of chimes as Roger's Lonergan so that way the Twins would both almost sound similar to one another. Here's some sound samples.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a fan of the Lonergan when Roger first started wearing it about 10 years ago, but it grew on me and it’s now one of my favorites. In terms of Walter, I like the Baldwin he’s currently sporting. It’d be neat to see him with Roy’s Crosby for a little bit. I just hope they don’t put a Buckeye back on him. It’s nice when the locomotives have different whistles because it makes them easier to identify and adds to their uniqueness.

In my opinion all locomotives should not have their original whistle switched. Because now when the Lilly Belle pulls into each station I think it Walter because that’s his whistle that the Lilly Belle has on. I understand that they trying to fix Lilly’s whistle, but that buckeye whistle she has belongs on the Walter. I learned from my grandparents that Lilly has had multiple whistle changes over the past 52 years, and Walter only had his buckeye whistle. Next year is the 100th anniversary for the twin locomotives, and I’d like Walter to run with it’s original Buckeye whistle.

Not sure about this. What she has on now sounds like her original higher pitched buckeye. In terms of Walter, get used to that Baldwin because it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Apparently the WDWRR crew and the maintenance crew are big fans of it.

100% agree. The different whistles are fun to try to memorize. It's always fun to listen to the whistle and then volunteer some perfect stranger next to you which train it's going to be coming in. And the look of astonishment when you're right. #fun

You know despite Walter, Lilly, and Roger all wearing the same "high-pitched" Buckeye 3-inch 3-chime whistle back then, they sometimes have different pitch tones depending on their age, wear, or how the engineers sounded them on the handle chord.

Roger’s Lonergan whistle is probably the loudest out of all, even though I haven’t heard the Baldwin whistle in person yet. I say that because that one in particular hurts my ears and makes other people around me jump. Roger is expected to be out next time a train has to sit for maintenance so any day now! So if anybody hasn’t heard it’s whistle, y’all should go and see what yall think.

For sure! Lilly's in particular was just a different tone than Walters and Rogers. Those two I honestly couldn't tell apart but if Lily or Roy was approaching the station I could easily call it. And it was fun to do. Here comes number four Roy. And I guess we just look at you and then realize " Oh my god how did you know?"

Heard the Lonergan this morning coming into Main Street Station. Got excited and was expecting Roger but…………..it was Walter. Looks like I’m gonna have to eat my words about the Baldwin staying for a while lol. The whistle shuffle continues!
Well, looks like my wish came true now! The Walter is now wearing Roy's Crosby 4 inch 3-chime:

Continuing the topic of whistles, does anyone know the whistle Roy is currently wearing? I've also heard that the whistle it has now since July 2023 isn't the same one before January 2023; I know one of them is from a former riverboat.

YouTube user cple1 said that the Roy and Joe Fowler's whistle is an American 4 inch 3-chime, because the whistle's chamber shapes were rectangular compared to the Crosby, Lonergan, and Baldwin.

Here's a closer look at someone's photo of Roy's American whistle on Flickr:

Gotcha. That's the whistle it got in July 2023. The one it had before January of that same year definitely looked like that as well (minus the brass being dark from many years of use), so they must have been made by the same company. Part of me actually wonders if the whistle you shared is the same whistle it had before January, just refurbished, although both sound different.

Oh ok, that makes more sense. Still surprised that engineers are under Main Street operations though. Doesn’t appear that way at Disneyland.
YES, that will explain about the infamous Lilly Belle wheel-slipping incident happening way back in late November 2022! But that's okay, the Lilly Belle's tires only suffered minimal damage and the engineer who have accidentally spun Lilly's wheels learned her lesson to be more skillful on operating the locomotive properly next time.

The fact that WDWRR crew is under Main Street Ops has absolutely nothing to do with the incident you’re referring to. The engineer in the video was in training and it was probably her first time dealing with wheel slip. She’s coming out of Fantasyland station, which is the only grade on the line, and it looks like it had been raining, which means the rails were more than likely wet. Not to mention it doesn’t have to rain for the rails to become wet. Moisture in the air from humidity, which is abundant in FL, can cause it. Anyway, add in the fact that none of the locomotives have sanders, and yeah you’re gonna have a good chance of slipping coming out of Fantasyland Station. Heck, I’ve even seen some of the veteran/old timer engineers slip on the grade. It happens. But to say that it happens because the WDWRR falls under a certain department? That’s a bad take.

Is WDW the only one whose trains are operated by Main Street Ops? I was thinking Disneyland may have the same thing.

Disneyland is totally different - they have very legit RR crew up in the engine and they also oil and maintain the locomotives themselves unlike WDW where they send maintenance to grease the rods every few trips.

Up until 1982, the Disneyland railway was still owned by the Disney family.
