Hey, just surfing the YouTubes and found the only complete lights on video of RNR I have ever seen...It's not great, but still pretty cool. I don't even know if the cameraman even knew anything was wrong! I know some people who have rode it with the lights on, and they all say it was cool. So, Enjoy!

I've ridden with the lights on several times, as well as:

lights on, no music
and lights off, no music

Its a really interesting experience, but the ride is much more fun in the dark.

Dang, that must have been cool. I really wish I could do SM with the lights on, and rrcr with the lights on sounds cool, and without the noise sounds even better.

That's so cool! I'd love to ride SM and RnRC both with lights on. I don't think I'd like RnRC w/out the music, tho. I really like Aerosmith! :D

The oddest experience is when you ride RNR with the work lights off, music off and the show lights off. So rather than the black-lit sights along the way (Doughnut, Freeway Sign, etc) which light everything up more than you expect, you see and hear ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It's quite spooky.

I am willing to bet my next paycheck that says that was a wdw college program party for castmembers; which starts after the park closes....

Last year it was at MagicKingdom and Space Mountain had there lights on....

BTW!!!!

NO REGULAR GUEST WOULD BE PERMITTED TO VIDEOTAPE THIS IF IN FULL OPERATION...

IF CAUGHT THEY WOULD HAVE SHUT THE RIDE DOWN IMMEDIAETLY...

Hmm. I've never had a problem with the lights or music. They both always seem to work. It would make things a little different, wouldn't they?

I remember after closing my sleezy cast friends would turn the worklights on and ride it before they put the trains in the hub for the night. It would be awesome, you could play with the showlights and other decoration to make the whole thing look wacky and whatnot.

On a rare occasion they're are 'mislaunches' and you get a rare ride of RNR with the lights halfway on and no music. This happened to me once and the music and the whole sequence plays when you're still in the alley. I remember seeing a youtube video on it, I just can't remember where it is though.

I've always wanted to do this, but haven't gotten a chance to... yet.

I see that every once and awhile.

Why is this? I had my camera (off by the way) in my hand and they told me that if I turned it on, they would shut the ride down.

Why is this? Especially if there is no flash?

That happened the first time my sister rode it with me. We failed to launch, and the music track had kicked in and played through and then stopped. We had a music-less ride when we did eventually launch with no warning.
Later on, we rode again and she commented "Oh, the music was supposed to be DURING the ride!"

Nice- the first I`ve seen as well!

We rode RnRC In Paris last weekend with no music (the car was pulled after we reported it) and I have to say it is so quiet! Apart from wind, and the odd scream, it was silent. Very interesting.

After reporting it at unload we were whisked backstage and back to load - literally back to the load platform - and given a choice of any seat :D

It's a risk for you and other guests because it might fly off the ride and sock someone in the face, or it might make another recreation of Final Destination 3, in the roller coaster scene. :lookaroun (okay, a little exaggerated but you get the point)

And 'backstage' and 'not normal' occurrences such as RNR with the lights on are prohibited because it shows how everything works and looks, thus ruining the 'magic' for some people.

Neat Video.

I got to see Space Mountain with its lights on while i was on the Transit Authority! It was pretty awesome ! Unfortunately we didn't have our camera with us :(. so my cousins and I decided to take our video camera with us immediately after we got off. Except the next time we went in it was dark again :(:)...

I was thinking that it would be really cool if they did this on a tour like a Backstage Magic Tour at DHS. Make it an early morning tour and one of the experiences is a ride on RNRC with the lights on. They could also take people backstage at LMA to see where the cars are worked on. Into some other backstage areas and conclude by taking you onto the stage at the Fantasmic amphitheater. I don't know how practical it would be but given the popularity of these tours I think it could be successful.
