Rock n Roller Coaster refurb--has the inevitable arrived?

As said before, there are many bands that have been described as the next big thing (The Killers for example here in the UK are still pretty huge, although from what I understand they're not that big in the US).

Aerosmith has a massive universal appeal to people. People know their hits and they're easily identifiable. Lets be honest. You ask a Disney park go-er to name a Hannah Montana song and you'll either get a response if it's a tween or disgust if it's from anyone else.

They'd be insane turning it in to a Hannah Montana ride. If anything, if they did remove Aerosmith, I would guess they would turn it in to bog standard rock music i.e. no bands, just intsrumental rocks tracks from non-descript artists.

I don't know art, but I know what I like...

"Lady Gaga" - notsomuch. :hurl:

Garish, overblown, immature tripe with no redeeming qualities. Trying desperately to imitate Bowie's avant-garde presentation without the flair for drama or the style and none of the talent.

But that's just one man's opinion...

Well, they are old... Nothing wrong with that, though. I'd still love to see them again someday.

Anyway, a Hannah Montana ride? I guess she does rake in the money for Disney but ugh...

I'd rather slit my wrists than consider riding anything connected to Hannah :hurl:

and as for Aerosmith being old and stale - that's why they've sold out their two UK appearances this year in a matter of days - and I've got tickets.

It really just comes down to this: the ride should be hosted by a classic rock band that has stood the test of time.

So many of the names being kicked around do not meet that simple criteria, either because a) they aren't really rock (usually pop) or b) they haven't stood the test of time. An artist like Lady Gaga, while talented, is relatively new. (And I wouldn't call her "Rock" either).

I doubt Aerosmith is going anywhere for a long time, and that's fine with me.

Its funny to see how many people think the fact that the members of Aerosmith are old is a justification for their removal from RNRC. The bulk of those comments are coming from members who are under the age of 20 and I'm sorry to say that if your extent of music knowledge does not move beyond what you hear on your local tween pop station, then you have no idea what you're talking about.

I was a music and arts major in high school and college, I grew up listening to classical, rock, jazz, reggae, blues, etc... Aerosmith fits the themeing of that ride perfectly, the only other groups I could think of who would fit in that attraction would be the Stones or maybe Kiss. Beyond that, any of these teeny bopper acts like Hanna Montana, Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, The Jonas Brothers, etc... do not have the staying power to last past the end of next year. In a few years their popularity will have wained and no one will remember who they are except a select few fanatics who still listen to their greatest hits albums. All teeny bopper bands fade away once their initial popularity ends, case in point; New Kids on the Block, Hanson, N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, etc....

If you think Lady GaGa has no talent, you're silly.

Watch those and tell me she's talentless ;). I don't like her crazy act all that much, but you can't deny that she has talent.

Anyway, it'd be a shame if they change it. It should always be Aerosmith, even when they're long gone.

Aerosmith are not the band they were, however even now in the latter years of their career they show just how truly awful the alternative of manufactured kiddy music is.

While im sure Ms Virus is popular in the pre pubescent community I just cant see an attraction aimed at teens and grown ups being themed around her limited demographic and lets be honest fairly limited appeal music.

Awesome post Pumba. Though I have come to expect a Tad more sarcasm from you.:sohappy:

Anyone who says that she doesn't have talent is sadly mistaken. But I agree that Aerosmith should stay, if only for the fact that they have a huge universal appeal. That being said it seems very childish that people are so quick to judge popular music. I'm not arguing for or against any band or artist but it seems like many times adults are just as ignorant of todays music as children are. Every artist had to start somewhere right? While its easy to dismiss any music past 1985, the only thing stopping the next Elvis is a generation of people who refuse to believe that it can happen. Business wise, keep Aerosmith please Disney. :)

How did this thread become about Lady Gaga?? (well, I know how...pretty much due to one person who just won't stop digging...) But really, if we're discussing what musical artist/group Disney would consider using to replace Aerosmith (though it seems highly unlikely that they would do such a thing), we should really be thinking of those who have been popular for a very long period of time. Disney isn't going to spend tons of money rehauling a ride using an artist who might not even be popular in five years.

By the way, this would definitely rule out Hannah/Miley, as she has announced that her album coming out this summer is her last one. (Personally, I'm relieved by this, but this thread started off as 'what could replace Aerosmith', not 'what is my favorite kind of music')
