Riding with.....Glasses.

I have been wearing glasses since 1986. I were my glasses all time for indoor attractions including 3d glasses. I wear my sunglasses all outdoor rides. I never had any problems. I made sure my sunglasses and regular glasses are tight before the trip.

Sorry if anyone has suggested this, I read the OP but scrolled through the rest of the comments, so far.
Have you tried straps? I wear contacts, but when I go to WDW I wear sunglasses. The last time I went I got a little cloth strap that you slid onto each end of your frames. This is nice because when I wanted to take them off, I just took them off my eyes but I could keep the glasses hanging around my neck. However, in your case, you wouldn't take yours off...but if they started to fall off during a ride they would only slid down to your neck and would not fly off. I think I got mine from Half Moon Outfitters but I'm sure you can find them at a sports store or where you buy glasses/contacts.
Hope this helps!

I do that too, I find it funny when I go to a local theater 3D movie the glasses fit horribly and seems like they're just for people with no glasses. My first trip to Disney last year I was upset before I entered Muppet's 3D until I put the 3D glasses on, they seem like they're made to fit comfortably for people that wear glasses or is it just me?
I've had the same thought. Disney's 3-D glasses seem to be extra bulky or wide, almost designed to leave a lot of room between them and your face. I definitely appreciate it. :)

Croakies are your friend. You can find them at any sporting goods store, and many eyeglass makers sell them. I have been tossed out of a boat at a high rate of speed, hit the water, and still had my glasses on when I surfaced.

But I also usually have a Tilley hat on, and the chin strap helps to keep my glasses close to my face. So, my hat AND glasses stay on. ;)

Never had a problem at Disney. I've ridden everything there with my glasses on.

At Universal I almost lost them on both Hulk and Dragon Challenge. I can see reasonably well without them, so I took them off for subsequent rides on both of those. My first on-ride picture on Hulk has me very awkwardly trying to hold my glasses on, I couldn't really grab them to take them off so I was pushing them against one side of my head... Not my most photogenic pose! :o

I've NEVER taken my glasses off for any ride at WDW...ever. Never had to.

As a matter of fact, I've only taken them off when I rode what I believe is still the fastest coaster in the world Kingda Ka at Six Flags in Jersey.

I've always worn my glasses on every ride. I keep wondering to myself if I should take them off sometimes, but I always come to the conclusion that I'd rather see everything and anything I could before my glasses fall off than seeing hardly anything at all.

Good decision not seeing anything at all is horrible it ruins the rides completely.

Great responses I thank everyone for all the advice. Next year I will have two pairs of glasses so I will use my back ups for the rides, seems though I should be fine. Many wdwmagic members use there glasses on rides and have no issue and mine are pretty snug. It was just that whole what if factor if they did, and I had no back ups with me on both Disney trips. My third trip will be a whole different story and will definitely appreciate the rides and details on the rides much much more.

Sitting here trying to recall what i used to do. Its been almost 3 years since i had to wear glasses. The best mothers day gift i have ever gotten was Lasik. I think the hassel of sun glasses was more pressing to me then rides. I hated having to take the glasses off when outside and put on the sun glasses then switch when going inside. Way more hassle than hold glasses while on a ride.

Hey everyone, I decided to start this thread because I have these annoying pieces of glass in front of my eyes, my glasses. Out of curiosity who actually rides with there prescription glasses not sunglasses, prescript ed lenses to see.

I'm also blind as a bat without my glasses and can no longer wear contact lenses. I wouldn't dream of going on a ride without my glasses, but I also wouldn't dream of risking losing my glasses. I just wear a strap in the back to hold them on when I ride RNRC, Space Mtn, Splash Mtn, and Everest. I've never ridden TOT, and I don't use the strap on Test Track as it is not necessary.

I keep my glasses on for everything, and I've never had a problem. I even wear the 3D glasses over my eyeglasses during shows. It looks way stupid, but I'm having a blast so I couldn't care less.

How could you not? If I took off my regular glasses to put on 3D glasses, I could barely see the 3D glasses let alone the movie! LOL

I wear lightweight wire frame glasses and have had this concern also, thanks for the tip. Just in case, where is the nearest Lens Crafters?

My oldest DD has has glasses since she was in 3rd grade so she wears them on every ride and hasn't had a problem with them falling off or anything.

She only lost them once on a ride at Six Flags New England.

Someone that feels my pain its horrible lol. Their is a lot of talk about these straps to hold the glasses from flying away into the oblivion so I might also look into these. Well, at least ask my eye doctor about them next time. Seems like if I really am to scared to wear my spare glasses (if they can survive a whole year) I will purchase a strap just to be safe. Not having my glasses would absolutely ruin my whole trip I would not be able to see a darn thing yeah, it's that bad.

I've never taken my glasses off for any ride, unless they forced me to (which was at Knotts Berry Farm, and that was annoying). I've worn them on Space Mountain, TOT, RNRC, Everest, Test Track, The Hulk, Dueling Dragons, whatever! They aren't going to fall off Knotts! :fork:

the only problem i ever had was on splash, kept getting wet, and its hard to dry them with wet clothes. iv even went on all those rides with a hat on and never lost it.
