I think the IP is masked so you will not be able to ping it. I probably wasn't getting through because of too many connections.

I agree...popkid really came thru for us on tihs one...

I warned him about getting slammed by users tho...it never fails. "Free stuff!! coool!!!!"

But anyway...Im going to sort thru all my stuff and contribute what I can...

ya the load on the server is gonna hurt us. I think the best result would be to limit access during peak times, and or account limits. But who knows right now. :)

hey all,

just an update - i'm doing a major overhall on the server to give it some much needed 'ooomph' to handle everyone.... it's down at the moment - but i hope to have it back up within a few hours. got some more video clips as well :)

sorry for the holdup, ever since i installed the new drive things have been buggy, but i'm working on squashing those bugs...

things should be back up shortly

I couldnt see making it a private thing only. I could see maybe setting some rules/guidelines. Like if you see the speed is extremely slow do not keep attempting to connect, and also a timeout time for ftp sessions if you login and sit for so amount of time you get disconnected

Am I to assume that uploads are to be our "original" material only? I just want to make sure I don't break the rules:) Also, once the server is bug free, can we upload using the same account and is there a specific location you would like the content?

Let me know if you need help with hardware/$ donations, etc. I know bandwidth can get reeeeeaaaallly expensive (depending on your ISP contract) as can horsepower to handle everybody that is pounding on your door!:cool:

I don't think bios'es let you choose boot partitions, only physical drives. I have winXP on my 60gig and win98 on my 30gig

i know ive asked this before nd im probly getting anoying but can anyone on their next trip to magic kingdom please get me a video of the train,steamboat and just walking around Tom Sawyers Island.The only one ireally want is the train one.

your not annoying. Unfortunatly the group of us that lives there it seems like :) right now are to busy to do much filming encoding etc. After this weekend trip its gonna be awhile before I go back to the park...my work is just to busy right now. I will be getting some nice photos and some filming this weekend but I will only be posting the photos. Give it time and someone will post the film

spagmoid Yeah.. I couldn't believe the card was that cheap. The store was remodeling, so that may had something to do with it. It had a sticker on the box from Sears that said "discontinued product". I don't know if that is true or not, but $25 was a steal. I also got a Studio DV capture card for the same price, but sold it on eBay because I can't afford a DV camcorder. I plan to use the DC10+ again, but need a nice and big harddrive. CompUSA has a good deal on a 80gig 5400rpm drive this week ($100), but I want to shoot for at least a 60gig 7200rpm, so I passed on it. If history is any indication, by the time I have the money saved I will be able to get such a drive for less than what I would pay now. In the meantime I am just playing with my Radeon capture and screwing with filters. I followed your suggestions and got a superb 8 minute video of Small World for about 35MB.. I captured/encoded simultaneously as DIVX4, then realized I wanted to compress the audio as MP3 separately (as you suggested) and then apply a filter. In doing so, I inadvertingly compressed the video more, so it doesn't look as good as it should. I need to start capturing as uncompressed AVI and then do all this filtering later. Again.. harddrive space is a real problem for me. Nothing like being sandwiched.. Well eventually I will be able to fix this.

got some questions regarding videos... i have some long disney clips i captured thru dazzle (they were from a VHS) and i was wondering what would be the best way to compress them, but keep them in one clip without having to break them up... problem is, they're in mpg format (can dazzle capture any other way?)

any ideas? some great stuff here that i can't wait to share:

epcot - souvenir program
project florida
and other really interesting stuff...

Well..the problem is that there is no "amazing" compression method...

Chances are that you will have to break them up in the end...

Some things you can try::

Lowering the quality of the audio (eww)
Making the videos smaller to maybe 320X240 (double eww)
Try and cut out any dead space (places where there is no audio or visual)

VirtualDub will read in MPG's, and you can convert them to DIVX from there. MPG is a decent format but you can get them half the size in DIVX without much reduction in quality.

I also use VCD Cutter for joining/pruning MPG's in their original format.

If you want to set up somewhere I can download the original FL project video I'll see what I can do with it.

I have some of them, got them, before their Page went down!!!! Could upload them to the FTP, if that´s no prolem with you, Popkid!!
