That was the one problem I was wondering about, The Hulk. I haven't seen a modern day version of the Hulk that was decent.

From all the comments I've read, they say this Hulk steals the show. So much so, in fact, that Kevin Feigh of Marvel Studios has hinted that the Hulk may get another movie.

Somewhere I've read that Mark Ruffalo has signed a six-picture deal with Marvel between the Avengers and I suppose a Hulk reboot.....

Some sites are already reporting that it's presales have surpassed all of the other individual (i.e. Iron man, thor, CA) movie's pre-sale numbers combined. That's pretty darn impressive.

I don't see how this movie will do less than the last transformers flick...that churned out 1.12 Billion

I would think that Domestically we will see 450+ and Foreign should see at least 750+....all the reviews have been positive, it has a wider audience than TF3.

Toy sales are going to be insane.
This will definitely be a great situation for Disney....it will totally put them back in line after the JC debacle.

It's looking good so far :) Mo money....Mo investment

man all those people who badmouthed Avengers are gonna be sorry today

No doubt...although people have been pretty good here.

I Saw it last night and wow! :sohappy:

The Dark Knight Rises or a half dozen other movies have yet to come out, and I feel comfortable saying that The Avengers will probably be the movie of the summer. Great movie!!!!:sohappy:

Kind of surprised by this:

"The Avengers" launched domestically early Friday with $18.7 million from midnight screenings. That puts it at No. 8 all-time for midnight debuts, just behind the $19.7 million start for "The Hunger Games" in March.

But it's well under half the amount for the No. 1 midnight draw — the "Harry Potter" finale last fall with $43.5 million.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" also went on to the biggest domestic opening weekend ever with $169.2 million.

While "The Avengers" started modestly compared with the last "Harry Potter" flick, it still may end up among the top weekend openings ever. "The Hunger Games" followed its midnight start with a $152.3 million debut weekend, the No. 3 opening behind "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" and "The Dark Knight" at $158.4 million.

The movie will end up with 170 mill + this weekend, IMO. Midnights are a very overrated measuring stick.

Considering these are the top 10 midnight openings ever, I'd say it's an excellent indicator. Only one of these failed to make at least $300 million.

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - $43.5 million
2. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 - $30.3 million
3. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - $30.1 million
4. The Twilight Saga: New Moon - $26.3 million
5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 - $24 million
6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - $22.2 million
7. The Hunger Games - $19.7 million
8. The Avengers - $18.7 million
9. The Dark Knight - $18.5 million
10. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith - $16.5 million

Just saw the move. It was very good. A bit long, but very good.

Just saw it...and holy wow.
It was built up soooo much and still exceeded my expectations.

I was lucky enough to get in and see it during the day today, still to a full theatre. When I walked out there was a line from the entrance of the particular theatre (#10 of 16 screens) all the way to the entrance waiting to get in and take a seat. Although most of us stuck around and were all waiting to see the extras after the credits...so we tied up the room a bit.

It has a good chance to set a weekend record, and I'm still thinking 450+ domestic, and 750+ overseas. This is a billion dollar movie. IMO, Better than Pirates, Better than any of those TF movies, and Better than any of the past marvel movies.

Between the movies, and the licensing (tie-ins, merch, toys)...this franchise is going to make Disney Billions.

Seen it in IMAX 3D. It was worth every penny. And it is one of the rare movies that I will actually go back and see again next week. (the last time I did that, it was for Avatar)

I hope it's still showing at the AMC in DTD when I go to the world at the end of this month. If it is, I think we'll be seeing it there as well. :D
