Reservation expansion

Do you mean park capacity via increased offerings, or just letting more people into each park?
A bit of both. There are some offerings they've announced return dates on (including ones outside the parks at resorts which keeps park attendance down). There are some unannounced things coming back as well. And their 2 main bottle necks: gate staffing and QS staffing is improving. All of that combined will allow them to bump things up.

Bob hate discounts. And refunds. Bob like money.
Every corporate decision and prerogative makes sense if you envision each guest that walks through a turnstile with a floating $$ amount over their head. That number is composed of the following:

-How much it cost them to enter the park
-how much, if any, they paid to stay there (Deluxe Rack room rate priority, then moderates, then DVC, then off-site
-how much they’re expected to spend on upcharge events (dessert parties, etc)
-how much they’re expected to spend on merch
-how much they’re expected to spend on food and drink

They want that number as high as possible. APs and others with discounts are already a lower amount, which is why they value day guests higher than those who come more regularly and frequently.

i give you credit... should have known better to go in summer and was a blessing when my daughters mom wouldnt let me switch for Thanksgiving this year!!!! lol
We would love to take our daughter but right now the value isn't there with Disney. As good as the parks and attractions are all the things you have to do to have a good time isn't worth it. Besides we are focusing on visiting parks we have never visited yet. We still have Dollywood, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Carowinds ahead of a return to Disney.

I’m calling shenanigans there…they absolutely are not limiting attendance based on gate staff…that makes sense for not a second. 100% ops excuse.

The staffing thing is getting a bit old now too…move on, babies

No, sorry for the confusion; that's why the hopping rules exist (around scheduling), not the capacity limits.

Well that’s an excuse too…but a plausible one. There are no lines for hopping and likely never would be except on holiday. Just did it easily a couple weeks ago
Yeah, I've had a debate with a few people about this. Their stance is they want adequate staff for open and 2pm. And my response was that you wouldn't need such heavy staffing if you just let people hop at their will. To me, it makes no sense. It's possible they have data from before close that suggests people like to hop at a time that they could not handle yet. I'm not sure. I don't really get it.

People wait 10 minutes…as opposed To stroll through? That would be the difference.

I wonder if part of it is while the like the money they get from hopper passes they don't like the lack of control they have over guests with it. They probably like the 2pm thing cause it keeps people in the parks longer instead of just strolling through on the way to another park.

Possibly they are taking a “lunch count” that allows them to staff park #1 before you hop to park #2?

Focus on the other parks, but don’t look forward to Carowinds. We went last summer while visiting family in Charlotte and it was underwhelming at best. Revisit a better Cedar Fair park in Ohio unless you’re trying to tick all of them off your list.
