Reservation expansion

Unfortunately, I think they need to end monthly payments. Secondly, they need to add a DVC specific tier. The fact that DVC members couldn't purchase APs during this time is ridiculous. Those guests are coming with or without APs being on sale; they are just needlessly forced to spend more during this temporary time period.
Even the most ardent of dusters can’t defend bobs here

They sell 55 year timeshares SPECIFICALLY to get you to frequent P&R…and don’t sell you an expensive gate pass to do so.

They have no clue why DVC was created or why it works? It’s just some fly by night nonsense now.

Exactly. It's really just a sleazy move at this point. During the paused AP sales time period, they could've offered a temporary day ticket discount to DVC members.

Or spend less by doing resort only stays. Or even worse for Disney just going to Universal. I was lucky that we were able to cancel our renewal and buy new in 2020 when the parks didn't open when we could travel.

Michael…and even Bob 1…liked steady business through good times and bad…

Bob the lesser doesn’t care. He’ll take his severance when he’s fired.

The most dangerous thing in Disney history…watch it play…
Factually inaccurate. The 'SaveDisney' campaign and when they nearly sold off the parks were both more dangerous. Also Ron Miller's reign, although not completely his fault. Come to think of it, Roy E. had a big hand in how that turned out too...

Not saying that Bob 'gotta give my baby grandson a cameo' Chapek isn't bad, but he isn't the most dangerous. Or isn't the most dangerous yet.

Kid, I was there for all the events leading up to “save Disney”…that was ultimately a personal relationship that ran it’s course in down economic times/transition. It was what it was.

The thing that Disney can’t do - most especially parks - is lose their ability to draw a mass audience to parks and resorts by being quietly labeled as a ripoff. They were always conscious of that and it’s easy to see the steps taken.

Disney was financially very sound with miler…Ray Watson was always very clear about that….it was just that they were small and an easy raid target in that era. They were green mailed and Roy - to his credit - seized the opportunity and changed their course to a juggernaut.

We always disagree…like about their pathetic misunderstanding of Star Wars…but usually can get to a sort of common ground. That’s probably the case here too.

All of those are good ideas as well…if we don’t start to hit them in the mouth a bit…you’re gonna get a 50-100% increase in ticket prices in 5 years.

You see the borrowing restriction ended, Helen-Ah!?

Those were all things I saw mentioned on various groups. DVC members who missed buying APs when that small window was open are upset and rightfully so.

I did see about the borrowing ending. Thank goodness. New guy is already better liked than Teri I think lol. But now I have to ponder spring break and summer next year. I can use my CCV points for a longer and 2 bedroom stay if we want WL. But we're also trying to get in all the resorts for DVC for my kid. So lots of pondering what to do... I truly wasn't expecting it this early.

Seems like the news about Afternoon Entires has broken by Blog Mickey. I suspect that may push things along.
BlogMickey also highlights my biggest concern: "One way that Disney could use the new system is to devote a small ratio of “all-day” entry windows for Annual Passholders per day and a larger ratio of 12pm or 5pm (or any other time of their choosing) to spread out demand at their theme parks."

You know that's most likely how it's going to work. @disneyglimpses even said they don't like AP holders taking morning reservations when they aren't showing up til afternoon anyways

My current understanding is that they will offer only 1 afternoon reservation slot to start. It may not be 12pm exactly but may change based on the day of week, time of year. If there are multiple parks available for an Afternoon Entry, they will share that same time (different entry times per park would be too confusing). To start, I actually expect afternoon reservations to be for 2pm to align with the current hopping policy.

As for the change in ratio, I think this is inevitable but may not have the side effect you think. For example, if there are 1,000 reservations made right now and 300 of those guests intent to enter after 2pm, there really would be no downside to them offering 700 morning reservations and 300 afternoon. Everyone wins in that scenario. It really depends on how good they are at forecasting demand. Capacity is due for another bump so that should help some as well.

Bolded is the big if. I have my doubts this ends up working. Again its making things more complicated then it needs to be.
