I just hope that Disney has thought long and hard about this TRON decision. I'm getting the vibe that this will turn into another RnRRC in about 5 years. It's short and kinda lazy. The novelty will wear off and people will be wishing it was something else. I know you could say that about any attraction they build, but this is the MK. This is going to be an iconic build, something that will be here here for decades. Until I see what they do with the entirety of Tomorrowland, color me cautiously pessimistic. I really hate to feel this way, but I really hope Disney knows what they are doing. But this decision as it stands right now just doesn't sit well with me. Let's hope and pray it all works out.
And that is the problem with using IP's that are not Disney classic's as the theme to a ride. Using a classic IP or original content as a theme usually result in a timeless attraction. Not sure this would go that way. 80's Tron was cool for it's time but the new one was a train wreck IMO.

Not exactly but I shouldn't say more. Aside from again it'll be a very different part of the park if plans come to fruition.

I know there are those who are adverse to change, so "different" automatically means bad. In your humble opinion, are you optimistic about the future of Tomorrowland, specifically?

I'm just thinking about the placement. Its going to create an awful sughtline from new new fantasyland as if space mountain hovers in the distance. Magic kingdom sufgers from not having the tomorrowland matterhorn curtain/ buffer.

It would depend how they position the show building. They could rock the side that faces FL. But this will be all the way over at storybook circus and it's also a shorter show building than space mountain- so it shouldn't be to big of an an issue.

We likely won't get rockwork for what you can see- maybe just blue or tan paint. But rockwork, even subpar because it's be such a large distance away, would fix anything. But would they? That's the question.

I don't have the same concerns about the Tron building that others do. The swooping roof looks amazing and if this is part of a larger Tomorrowland redo, I'm all for it (so long as Carousel of Progress and the PeopleMover stay). This land is a mess right now and needs some love. This makes me hopeful it will get some attention.

I just re-watched video of the TRON Coaster...it is REALLY short, 1 minute 30 seconds. I feel like once it gets to the best part it ends....should be about 30 seconds longer.

I also wish it had you enter Flynn's Arcade, but that wouldn't go along with the Tomorrowland exterior theme I guess
It's short because there are no lift hills and it goes so fast.

Also the entire track is covered, so it wouldn't matter if it rained.

Hmmm... interesting wording... would I be reading into it too much to think that this could be part of a whole new themed (Avengers?) section behind Tomorrowland? We had heard rumors of a Captain America themed version of the Lightcycle attraction coming to DCA... would be interesting to hear of double Marval-lands at D23 for Magic Kingdom and DCA...

No hidden intentions.

For me, one of the (many) things that makes the Disney parks better than all other theme/amusement parks in the world is their ability to transport me somewhere else...and not just anywhere but to a place that I want to be even if I didn't know that's where I wanted to be until I got there. Tron has that perfect vibe that I believe people will love once they are on the Grid. I'm even more excited for it today than I was yesterday!

One thing is for sure, this roller coaster resurgence is pretty interesting. Considering WDW averaged adding a new coaster every 6.5 years between Space Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine train, if this TRON coaster does come to fruition along with the GOTG potential coaster in EPCOT, add in the Slinky Dog coaster and you could see three new coasters at WDW open within a 3-4 year time period...

Space Mountain: 1975
Thunder Mountain: 1980 (5 years since last coaster)
Barnstormer: 1996 (16 years since last coaster)
Rock n Roller Coaster: 1999 (3 years since last coaster)
Primeval Whirl: 2002 (3 years since last coaster)
Expedition Everest: 2006 (4 years since last coaster)
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: 2014 (8 years since last coaster)

Slinky Dog: 2018?
GOTG: 2020/21?
Tron: 2020-21?
