Replacement for Tomorrowland Speedway?

Maybe not another coaster per se, but I do think MK is well overdue for a thrill attraction in the vein of Indy over at Disneyland. Personally I think TRON would make a killer EMV attraction.

Agree with this. MK (in particular, Adventureland, though I wouldn't be picky if it went somewhere else) could use another thrill ride, but not necessarily another coaster. An EMV type ride would be great.

For the record, from what I know very recently (which isn't everything by any stretch) the coaster is one option under consideration. I understand it isn't the front runner, nor is it written off yet.

Do you know the other options or can't they be shared? If you can't tell us the other options, is the coaster the best one?

I shouldn't go into details aside from what's already known but personally I wish they'd run with another of the options.

Why have two interior coasters side by side?
Why not invest properly in SM?
The show building will not be fully hidden
Traffic patterns would be worsened

Plus other options would still do what's required with the speedway.

I don't think TRON coaster would be the solution. I agree you don't need two indoor coasters next door to each other, especially when SM could use a real overhaul. I hope they go with another option.

I agree. Unless the show building is outside the berm I don't think it would work well. Ultimately though replacing the raceway is a step in the right direction no matter what replaces it.

So is this one of the options for the big new e ticket that's possible in addition to whatever replaces stitch for the 50th?

The Tron coaster would be so absurdly redundant - WDW has a Tron-style ride with TT and the Tron coaster is very close in concept to SM. The fact that it is even still being considered indicates their is something fundamentally wrong with the decision-making process.

My hope? A couple dark rides, with one being the E-Ticket Beauty and the Beast concept from TDL. That franchise is demonstrating its viability right now in a way even Disney management should recognize. And Disney's watchword right now (especially in MK) needs to be capacity, capacity, capacity. All the MM+ boondoggles in the world won't help the MK crowding issue the way more high-capacity rides will.

I completely agree. I think they need to work on fixing SM. After seeing a lot of video from the Tron ride, I am not a fan. I think I would rather have a couple small dark rides over another indoor roller coaster

Either way they would be replacing Tomorrowland Speedway.
Ultimately though replacing the raceway is a step in the right direction no matter what replaces it.
And if you can't agree with @jt04, THERE'S THE DOOR!

I love TRON. I love Daft Punk's soundtrack. But I also love Autopia, and seeing the enjoyment on my kids' faces when they drive... just like I had when I used to drive it in Disneyland.

So I'm torn. But happy *uuuuuhhhh* that the source *siiiigh* is Jim *sighhhhhhh* Hill.

There's no issue with high demand FPs at the Magic Kingdom. I just ran availability for tomorrow, i.e. one day in advance, and literally everything is available except Mine Train.

True however....why on God's earth should I have to wait 20 or 30 minutes for certain things? FP distribution destroys rides that previously had no waits. When we go (APs) we have to pick and choose our FP and than pick the 2 or 3 to do at rope drop walk on....dude I legit won't wait past 15 minutes. Call me spoiled or impatient but if I'm not walking on it I don't want to ride it. There's so many "lower tier" attractions (D and C stuff) with absurdly long waits due to fastpass.

Fastpass was better when it was only for big attractions that need it so other attractions could hum along but when you expanded it via magic bands is when it broke the system. To be fair I know they couldn't have done advance windows this far out without expanding it (only a small fraction of guests wold ever get FP) but maybe it's not the greatest idea to have your every moment planned so far in advance in exchange for negative effects elsewhere. (Like lines at its a small world)

The problem is, "..the ones with little kids" are the majority of the people at MK.

MK is not a thrill park. We have those all over this country, including Orlando. The Magic Kingdom is so different, and special, because it appeals to all. There's a "magic" about it that can't compare to any thrill ride or thrill park.
That is why the people with season passes to Cedar Fair or Six Flags parks still spend thousands of dollars to visit Disney World.

Yeah....those strollers sure are magical.... I have a small child and the reason I dread the MK is because it's so unbalanced every disney mom in the world is crammed in there with there kids....I really wish they spread out the kiddie rides and forced the crows to spread to all the parks.

I think this is so important. We have multiple go cart places/indoor entertainment where we live. My kiddo is 6, most don't even allow him to ride right now, none allow him to drive.

Having your foot on the pedal while your child is driving horribly, and you're both laughing until your belly aches, is the "perfect" idea of why the MK exists in the first place.

Take your child in the passanger seat of an autocross car.

Wow... Add to the fact that the last ride they built in the park was a coaster.
That would be 5 coasters in the MK.
Plus they're taking away a ride that doesn't have height restrictions, to add one that does.

That place where Speedway is, is big enough for 2 great themed rides. sad
