OK, so what did that have to do with my post. I never mentioned any vehicles whatsoever. I don't understand the response or where it fit in with my post. Please clarify.
You brought up EPCOT, which clearly demonstrates that Walt's view towards the automobile had changed. After only a decade, Walt's next big project was rather specifically rejecting the futurism of Autopia.

That seems like quite a leap. I think he saw the need for less automobiles in an inner city environment, but, automobiles, buses and trucks were still going to be essential to the survival of the community, just not inner city. So it wasn't even close to rejecting auto's in society, just in the city. That required a very complex set up of public transportation to achieve. It hardly meant the overall end of it as we know it. The very concept had visions of places like GM and Ford within the heart of the city. Eliminating auto's from the scenario completely would have been pretty counterproductive to the goals of EPCOT, I would think.

The Heart of Our Cities, upon which EPCOT is based, is more direct. EPCOT was a transit-oriented development.

A Tron IP would be nice to have in TL, but not as a roller coaster... And Isn't Epcot rumored to get a coaster too?
Besides, MK PR is so family based fun that a new ride in the park that is limiting to the whole family... Can't see that going over real big right before the 50th... Newest ride in the park and it having height restrictions. I say this with family and friends who have kids, height restrictions is tough and MK is one park that the whole family can enjoy a lot of rides.

I agree... still don't know your point! Transit oriented, agreed, but, it still included motor vehicles, just under and around. They were not eliminated.

For those of you who think the speedway can just go with electric cars, it's impossible unless it's with an electrified rail.

Get that idea out of your heads. Same for those of you who think electric buses would be a good idea at WDW.
Last I heard Tesla's run on lithium batteries not electric rails. Would it be cheap? No..no it wouldn't. And I am not sure it would be worth it.

Imo, the tron coaster can never exist in the same park as space mountain. It's the one or the other. In a perfect world they'd have space mountain in epcot's future world (just think about epcots would be skyline alone) and make tomorrowland something like 'digital' land and place the tron coaster where SM now is. I know it's never gonna happen and some def disagree, just my opinion :D. In reality, I hope they'll do the tron coaster in epcot. It really is so impressive and would boost that park exponentially.

I don't have a great love for the Speedway, but I hate this false choice there seems to be of, "Ditch the Speedway, or we'll never get anything cool!" I know our Speedway is smelly, ugly, and uses a lot of space. Disneyland's Autopia has nice landscaping and an interesting layout. Disneyland was able to grow into the amazing park it is today with mostly keeping the Autopia intact. HKDL's used electric vehicles (which have to be just sitting in a warehouse somewhere now, right?). It would be so easy to make our Speedway into the best version of itself.

I would be happy if they just updated the speedway like has been hinted at. The gas smell does heavily detract from the experience when the rest of the park is so clean.

I'm sorry I have never considered the speedway a classic attraction. In all my visits I have never rode it once and do not plan too. Also just because a ride is old doesn't make it a classic. I'm glad the powers at be feel the same way I do on this issue.
I've ridden it a few times just so I can make a game of it. I like to see if I can do the whole circuit without coming in contact with the guide rail.

I agree, but in this case I think all remaining opening day/year attractions at the MK are classics. It's hard to imagine the MK without the speedway or the Swiss Family Treehouse, Mad Tea Party..... among a few others.

View attachment 197599 IF they ever did decide to build Tron at MK, could this land be used for it? If they built it like Shanghai's imagine that architecture next to Space Mountain's awesome architecture! Just build a bridge over the railroad tracks and it would easily connect right into Tomorrowland.
Hell turn the entire walking trail into a huge elevated walkway that covers the railroad and actually increases the magic kingdoms capacity. Not a 30 foot wide walkway into the ride... they need a couple hundred feet. Wasted space back there anyway.

Hmmm... Can I vote for the Atlantis Encounter that was once rumored to be the replacement for Disneyland's Autopia? It looked kind of cool...

They were eliminated as much as practically possible. Very different from the celebration of the highway at Autopia.
