Do you live out of state?

I honestly don’t understand why this is such a big deal, especially since it’s temporary. I think it’s a good idea to keep it to just Californians for now, just to see how things flow in the beginning. It’s not going to be forever. Maybe a few weeks or a month+ at best. If it’s longer than that, so be it. It’s been nearly a year and neither Californians nor out of state folks have been able to visit the parks. We’ve survived this long and out-of-state visitors will need to wait longer.
Yes, I live out of state and would be able to meet the travel advisory. And therein lies my frustration.

I agree that it is likely to only last a month or two, anyway. And I don’t think DLR will reopen in April anyway, so it will probably be a very short-term headache for anyone trying to go to DL.

I have found travel restrictions to be arbitrary and useless since day 1. None of them have been fully-enforced and they have therefore been used as a system to deter those who behave ethically while those who do not will just do whatever they want. So you are pushing away those who are most likely to follow your rules.

Now, if it is just for a month to make sure crowds are not out of control and for the state to make sure the parks are managing everything up to their standard before fully opening the flood gates, I can understand that. A more straightforward way of achieving that would have been to say “red tier is in-state-only”. Listing yellow as “in-state-only” is silly if we agree that this restriction is likely to go away long before OC reaches yellow tier. I think the tiers, in general, will go away before OC ever gets to yellow.

Well there you go.🙎🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

Give it some time and you’ll get your chance to return to the parks.

I live in CT. I was not allowed in FL until early August of last year. The case rate in CT was lower than FL by June.

So, yes, arbitrary. Seeing Facebook posts from unscrupulous people who went anyway has not improved my opinion. The rule breakers keep breaking this rule because it is unenforceable. We are a single country. Keeping a virus in another state when it is already in every state is ridiculous. Even Dr. Fauci agrees. Focus on testing, distancing, masking, vaccinating.

As the science says.

My wife and I have been vaccinated. I’m as pro-science as you get, since I’m a scientist.

Okay, arbitrary.

The good thing is if you really have an itch to visit a Disney theme park, you’ve got WDW, and it’s even closer to you. Sounds like a win to me.

If the recent news about the ridiculously long lines and waits to just enter the 'Star Wars' shop at DTD, i hope Disneyland will be ready to deal with the massive exodus of locals and vloggers that will stampede the gates on Opening Day 2021.
It's going to be ugly...calling it now.
Traffic, lines, nightmare fuel.
Reserving in advance will help...but you know a lot of folks are going to show up regardless.

I will enjoy watching from a distance.
Interested to see how they are going to deal with this unique situation.
Of course the Park has had plenty of experience in dealing with huge crowds, so hopefully they use that past knowledge.
This is not a free-for-all. The 'stampede' will be for online ticket reservations, when the website will be overwhelmed with internet 'traffic'.

'Huge crowds' simply won't be allowed in. As they're not currently allowed in beyond capacity in Downtown Disney or BVS. As they won't be allowed in beyond capacity with pre-purchased tickets to the upcoming DCA food experience.

They got the word out for Galaxy's Edge - if you don't have a reservation, you can't get in. That was extremely effective and I expect them to manage the same here.

I'd have to say masks will be a thing for a very long time, if not forever. Since covid has so many strains, if the government is operating with the same concern for the new strains as it has with the current strain, I don't see masks going away as new strains will always pop up.
I thought Bob Iger or Chapek or somebody said that they won't require masks after this year. I hope so! I am not going to Disneyland with any kind of requirement, both for the parks and for the airplanes. Airplanes are equally important because if they have health requirements, that means we can't get back home if one of my kids catch a cold and cough. I am not taking the chance of being stuck at Disneyland.

Chapek said that masks will be required at all Disney Parks through at least the rest of 2021. He gave no indication of 2022 and beyond, but stated that he expects social distancing measure to not be the same as today; that it will depend on the state of the world. So that is not to say they won't encourage or requirement them after 2021.

“And that could accelerate our expectations, and give people the confidence that they need to come back to the parks. Will there be overlap until we know that we have herd immunity? Sure there will. But do we believe we’ll be in the same state of 6 foot social distance and mask wearing in 22? Absolutely not.”

Thank you for the quote except you missed the beginning of it:

“I will tell you what our expectations are in terms of the state of the world by then. We have no doubt, and when we reopen up in parks that were closed, or increase the capacity, that we’ll have some level of social distancing and mask-wearing for the remainder of this year.

That’s our expectation. But, I believe that Dr. Fauci said earlier today that he hopes that there is vaccines for everyone who wants them by April this year. If that happens, that is a game-changer.”

So they have an expectation, but depends on real world events just like I said.

Personally I believe the mask “requirement” will be gone but may still be encouraged in 2022 at Disney Parks.

>>The political stakes for Gov. Gavin Newsom will be sky-high when he takes to the virtual airwaves Tuesday evening to deliver a statewide speech — just hours before some of his fiercest critics submit their final batch of signatures on petitions seeking his removal from office in a recall election.

Recall backers boasted Sunday of mission accomplished, though it will take several weeks for elections officials to examine the results of a campaign that now boasts of gathering some 1,950,000 voter signatures.

While it’s unlikely that Newsom will directly address the effort Tuesday in a speech officially billed as his annual State of the State address, the event may nonetheless feel like the kickoff of the campaign to keep his job.<<

I hope that the expectation does go through, and then some.

But I have also heard rumors that the decline in cases is starting to plateau, which I believe Fauci had mentioned on CBS' "Face the Nation". He didn't refer to California in particular, he was referring to the nation as a whole. But he did mention how Europe had seen a decline in cases as well, followed by a plateauing of said decline, followed after that, sadly, by another rise in cases. I hope that does not happen here.

It leveled off (likely due to the ice storm) but has been falling for about 10 days.
