That number seems awfully low for Publix. Orlando Sentinel was reporting 190,000 in 2018. Publix has around 65% of the grocery stores in the state.
That law has flipped flopped so many times, it's hard to keep up.There was a law on the books that didn’t allow it so no reason to speak out against something that is already not allowed.
It seems the data was last updated in 2021, so perhaps the labor market issues at the time skewed the data. That number seems awfully low for Publix. Orlando Sentinel was reporting 190,000 in 2018. Publix has around 65% of the grocery stores in the state.
They just don’t want to be next.
It’s having the intended consequenceScary and sad.

The timing serves as evidence that it is retaliatory. But you don’t need to introduce evidence on an issue if the other side admits it.
I think what is correctly stated is that WDW is the largest single site employer in the state (and the country). Sometimes that gets twisted as Disney being the largest employer in the state which is not true. Based on what Disney put out they are the largest taxpayer in the state as well. So one of the top employers and the top taxpayer.
And further feel the wrath of DeSantis retaliation ?I still think it’s shocking the business community, the tourism community, and the theme park community have not spoken out at all about what has been happening. If the entire community rallied around Disney, it would send a very powerful message to Tallahassee. And frankly they should, the precedent being set can impact them one day.

Publix is in for a fight from a powerhouse - AmazonWhat I posted was 2022 data. Publix is opening new stores regularly. I think 3 in Central Florida will open in the next few months.

For all the talk of how DeSantis has fumbled this, he has very much succeeded in his goal of chilling speech. It’s probably a good thing he won’t settle for less than his maximalist goals.I still think it’s shocking the business community, the tourism community, and the theme park community have not spoken out at all about what has been happening. I think Publix is #1 I could be mistaken thoughI thought they were second, after Walmart.
That's because school districts are based on county here. Using something like the ISD model from TX could be worth looking at.Good lord the school districts in Florida are way too big.
My school district has 4 schools.
If Disney loses on their First Amendment claims, it would be an incredibly dangerous precedent to set.The stark warning at the end of the article really does outline the importance of this case.
“At the beginning of this piece, I said that DeSantis should lose, not that he will lose. Court outcomes are never completely certain, but this much is correct: A Disney defeat would represent a dangerous reversal in First Amendment jurisprudence and cast a pall of fear over private expression. In its complaint, Disney wrote, “In America the government cannot punish you for speaking your mind.” That is true now and will remain so if Disney wins its case. If Disney loses, on the other hand, America’s first liberty will be at risk, and the culture wars will escalate out of control.”
I know, that's why I hate it. Unless you're super rural, counties are way too big to effectively manage schools. I strongly favor municipal control of education so that administrators are directly accountable to parents. That's because school districts are based on county here.
More like Kroger, Kroger has moved into Publix turf doing deliveries only from central warehouses that are only for delivery. They are cheaper than Publix as well and cheaper than Instacart. It’s a very smart move.Publix is in for a fight from a powerhouse - Amazon
*Fort Lauderdale has entered the chat*Given all of the natural disasters that occur every year in Florida, I honestly think having a full-time governor is smart policy for Florida. You just know Florida will inevitably get hit by a hurricane or some other extreme weather event while DeSantis is campaigning thousands of miles away.
There's an extremely important distinction that I think people are missing. If Disney loses on their First Amendment claims, it would be an incredibly dangerous precedent to set.
This case will likely be one of the most important cases in U.S. history.
