I think most of the legislation he is getting passed (save for this RCID stupidity) is good. And I think most of the corrosive effect on America comes from the other side. But I suspect you don't agree. ;)
Nah.

The corrosive effect is from people not sitting down and willing to talk to each other and listening, instead assuming the other is an enemy and is less than them.

I'll talk to anyone and listen to them, but I expect the same in return. With respect.

This isn't twitter, this is real life - real legislation. And even twitter - that is, words - can have very real consequences. The governor's spokesperson spends a lot of time online labelling the LGBTQ+ community child abusers. Just twitter - but do you think that might have some real world consequences?

I take this stuff seriously because I really, REALLY like the constitution and the Enlightenment ideals that formed it. I don't find constant assaults on the fundamental principles of the nation particularly amusing.
I must have missed the part of the Enlightenment where James Madison bribed the East India Company with special legislative carve-outs in exchange for them agreeing to set up growing operations in southern Virginia.

And you may have missed the memo, but liberalism is cringe now. It's a poo-flinging contest between the illiberal left and the illiberal right.

Eh.... he's smart enough to have been admitted to and graduated from Yale and Harvard without parents buying his way in and through school.

He's not an idiot. He's an absolute ******* and a master politician, but not an idiot.
But you dont understand. When one has political differences with another, only their complete denigration and destruction is acceptable. Actually making a cogent argument against their position is silly.

So good that some of them are too vague to be constitutional or enforceable, or go in opposition of existing federal legislation and responsibilities, or have been struck down by federal courts.

It's all in preparation for his 2024 POTUS run. He's blinded by power.

Sounds like random rants from a liberal Florida state senator. I think Mary Ellen Klas needs to do a bit of research and verify those claims.

One of the bill's sponsors, during questioning, made it clear that taxpayers in Orange and Osceola Counties would assume RCID's debt when the district is dissolved in 2023.

The “blessing” of Disney has also been a curse. Over a decade ago the Vegas big boys were ready to spend a crapload of money developing resorts. Disney and their lobbyists squashed that. If Disney wants to relinquish their acreage I’m sure they’ll have no problem selling. Florida will be okay. Thanks for your concern.
I'm not one for a confrontation so I will say this and then stay silent. I understand that you think people will still come to Florida. However, you can't tell me that Disney has doesn't attract a lot of people to the state. You also can't tell me that the state wouldn't feel a hit if Disney were to suddenly pack up and head out. So I really think your argument is null.

Not even close.

The Disney Parks in Florida (and only counting the parks, not the water parks, not Disney Springs, not the golf courses, etc) attract more people than any other US tourist destination - far more than Vegas.

The only place that comes close is Times Square.

Orlando as a whole gets roughly $25 billion in tourism spend. For the benefit of the doubt let’s say Disney pulls 80% of that (and that’s being gracious). That puts it equal to Vegas and not much ahead of Miami.

DeSantis types and their opponents do this to one another. They all deserve it, so I don't particularly care.

I would love for our political climate to look something like Mitt Romney debating Amy Klobuchar. But it ain't gonna be any time soon.

He needs Florida in 2024. If he removes RCID and taxes go up, he will lose votes in his home state.
