So you're telling me that Florida would continue to pull the amount of people to it that it does with Disney? Keep in mind people from all over the globe visit Disney on any given day.
There’s no need to prove this point. It’s lunacy

It reminds me of being in a college town where the college outnumbered the townspeople 2-1 and the town council would pass more fee ordinances with the same excuse every month: “this town would be best with the school”

No you wouldn’t…

Same as Disney and Florida.

DeSantis isn't a tyrant, he's a troll. And he's winning.

He has mastered the Trumpian art of provoking his opponents into overreacting about absolutely everything, and then ridiculing the overreaction. But unlike Trump, he's not an idiot, so he's even better at it.

At the bank…there’d be quite a few less nickels to rub together

What makes the world go ‘round?

The “blessing” of Disney has also been a curse. Over a decade ago the Vegas big boys were ready to spend a crapload of money developing resorts. Disney and their lobbyists squashed that. If Disney wants to relinquish their acreage I’m sure they’ll have no problem selling. Florida will be okay. Thanks for your concern.

Cause I’m sure nobody would come to Florida if Disney wasn’t here.

They'll come, but no place in Florida - or the US - even comes close to WDW's drawing power.

Florida will survive without Disney, but the loss in tax revenue will be more than enough to bankrupt the state.

ok cmon lol he’s absolutely not better at the Trump game than Trump, and he absolutely is an idiot. Look into his eyes and tell me you see anything going on there. And I’m not just saying that because I disagree with him, I don’t know what about his track record would have you believe “wow this guy is clever”

As far as culture war stuff goes, sure let’s say this is smart, but only because it’s happening in the exact 8 day period where Disney is a relevant target for the rage filled masses. Compared to any normal thing a normal governor should be doing, it’s very stupid, because all GOP culture war stuff is incredibly stupid.

There will be long expensive lawsuits over this that he won’t be able to win, and it doesn’t even matter politically that’s it’s never going to happen because that will be 18 months from now, all the people cheering this one will have either forgotten he ever tried to do it in the first place and/or drowned in the briny embrace of rising sea levels.

Thankfully Florida still has investments in Russia to help cover the costs.

Twitter isn't real life mate. None of it matters. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the spectacle.
This isn't twitter, this is real life - real legislation. And even twitter - that is, words - can have very real consequences. The governor's spokesperson spends a lot of time online labelling the LGBTQ+ community child abusers. Just twitter - but do you think that might have some real world consequences?

I take this stuff seriously because I really, REALLY like the constitution and the Enlightenment ideals that formed it. I don't find constant assaults on the fundamental principles of the nation particularly amusing.

Vegas does. And it’s not like Uni, SeaWorld, Busch, the cruise ships, the beaches, and the conferences are all going to pack up and leave. In fact, without Disney they’ll probably all expand. And there’ll be a ton of development money pouring in - in areas Disney hampered before

Eh.... he's smart enough to have been admitted to and graduated from Yale and Harvard without parents buying his way in and through school.

He's not an idiot. He's an absolute and a master politician, but not an idiot.

You've played this card before, and its disingenuous. He's not some troll looking for reactions on an internet message board (which is bad enough). He's one of the most powerful office-holders in the country passing legislation that has a genuine, profound impact on peoples lives. It doesn't make it better that he often acts in bad-faith or misrepresents his own actions in a way that lets him dehumanize and demonize his enemies - that makes it worse. The founders would have absolutely no difficulty recognizing his behavior as tyrannical (neither would Captain America, by the way). If the same tactics were turned against groups or issues you cared about, you'd be apoplectic.

And if you think this newly popular tactic - lets call it troll tyranny - doesn't have an irreversibly corrosive effect on America and its institutions, you're delusional.
I think most of the legislation he is getting passed (save for this RCID stupidity) is good. And I think most of the corrosive effect on America comes from the other side. But I suspect you don't agree. ;)

I think you’re underestimating just how effective that little place has been…across the board.

You think there’s more people clamoring for Vegas?

It’s there and there’s plenty of rooms available if anyone is interested

If I had a nickel for every time someone described a GOPer in this exact same manner, I..well I would have a lot of nickels.

Anyways, that description probably fits Putin more than anyone else right now. For all the times a politician has been compared to Hitler, we actually have one from a power that is comparable. Different topic though obviously.

Not even close.

The Disney Parks in Florida (and only counting the parks, not the water parks, not Disney Springs, not the golf courses, etc) attract more people than any other US tourist destination - far more than Vegas.

The only place that comes close is Times Square.
