Princess themed rooms coming to Port Orleans Resort

TIANA's could replace the shuttered BONFAMILE's restaurant.

Yeah, a Tiana's restaurant. The Dream got a Ratatouille themed restaurant, PO should get a Tiana's. It makes sense, but then again logic sometimes stumps tdo.

This fits in perfect with the FQ.

The pool area could have the swamp theme with a momma's house added as a snack bar/CS.

Almsot every detail was canceled. The magic Lamp, Cogsworth, and the Foot Stool. Plus the Canopies, Swords and Shields. This is pretty sad.

The original concept art did not look like it could be done within a moderate. The new art definitely looks more in that range.

Makes sense though as they all would be broken/damaged/destroyed within the first month of opening by disrespectful guests and their rotten kids.

Yes. The general public is asking for it and is apparently willing to shell out more money for it.

I'm not saying this new room theming is bad, or placing any sort of objective judgment on it, but I'm personally not a fan. I've always loved how understated the Port Orleans themes were, and this is anything but.

If Disney was converting all of the rooms to this then I would see a problem. The reality is that they are only converting a small percentage of the rooms. People like you or I who like the original room design will have no problem finding an "uncharacterfied" room.

I would also assume that from the outside there will be no noticeable change either.

I can totally see how the "meshed together" theming puts people off ,I too would rather have individually themed rooms over this concept however,my daughters will love these rooms and I'm sure we'll be trying them

Agreed, we stayed there after our land and sea cruise, and well it was just shocking that a disney resort room would be very subtle with any of the disney theme touches.

You are looking at it wrong, think of these princess accessories as merchandise you don't even have to leave your room to buy.

Honestly, I don't see how that would be possible. You really are going to have the same demographic at the resort, but now there will be people willing to pay a premium for a special room. It isn't like the resort was lacking in the princess loving little girl category before...now you just gave those families a reason to spend more money.

I do. We have found on multiple trips to Riverside that the average age is higher than what you find at some of the value resorts or other moderates. Princess Rooms will bring a younger demographic of families to that resort whereas before they would have preferred something a little more age appropriate. Is there anything wrong with that, no. We just liked the relaxed atmosphere of a moderate. We will probably just head back to the Poly from now on...oh wait...Sept 2011...see you there. WOOOOO

That has not been my experience in my one stay at POR. CSR, maybe? POR - filled with kids. Lousy with 'em.

I am sure that statistically one category of resort will have more or less kids per capita than another but I have yet to see a Disney resort run light in the kid department....and I have stayed in almost every one multiple times. I do not see a change like this making much of difference in the per capita kid population at a resort. Again, we are talking about a fraction of the available rooms and not the entire resort receiving this upgrade.

In the case of PORS, it is one of the most popular resorts for people with 3 kids due to it being the least expensive party of 5 option in all of WDW. I have stayed their more times than I can count and have never noticed fewer kids than at any other Disney resort.

If you want quiet, I always prefer FW.
