Princess themed rooms coming to Port Orleans Resort

I think the rooms are cute! The headboard looks similar to the one at Disneyland Hotel.

Also, with all the renovations going on at the mods and addition of queen beds it's much more tempting to spend less money! :) Aside from the pools and outside corridors there really isn't much to differentiate the deluxes from the moderates.

I actually liked those the *least*. Maybe it's just me, but it was too plastic-y, garish, and over done with one or two set pieces that stand out and not an overall great experience. Thought different strokes for different folks.

I thought it was garish as well but isn't most of Disney garish? And I also was under the impression that they weren't going to select all the room options, but were going with the most popular with the highest votes.

More princess garbage.

:hurl:

Clearly, you're not a princess fan. So what compels you to open a thread about princess-themed rooms? What are the odds you're going to like them?

The reason Disney is doing so much with the princesses is that there is a very real demand for them. Just accept that it's not for you but will appeal to many and move on.

Maybe those princess dollars will eventually fund something you like.

I agree that there is demand and I am all for raising the profit margins on nice remakes like this. My problem is the theme...Tiana throwing a party for her friends and they all leave reminders of themselves in the rooms? I'm sorry, but I am far from one of those purists and even this is a little tough for me to digest. I know the rooms will be incredibly popular, but I think that they could have found a better way to execute it. I had been saying for some time that I thought that if Pop gets redone to be the other side of AoA (which i still firmly believe) that these rooms should have been there. A section of the resort could have been all princesses and these rooms would have been perfect. Then you not only would have had the rooms but the entire area to work with to bring people in.

I totally agree with what you're saying. But I guess Disney wanted these princess rooms now. And they wanted to make the mods more appealing so they won't be cannibalized by AoA. In order to accomodate that, you get a backstory that it a bit of a stretch to you and me. But it won't bother the kiddies one bit.

What they need is a "Hollywood Tower Hotel".....

That would be an interesting idea. I made a mockup for DHS, that I have been working on and making additions to. This is what I added for a Hollywood Hills Hotel:

This hotel would have a park entrance and exit. It would offer some good viewing angles for a night time show at the South Lake Amphitheater. Disney could also build a TS on the top floor, maybe with an outside eating area. The hotel would be C shaped, with a plaza in the middle.

That would be ture, but also why I suggested charging a higher price to stay there. ;)

Oh, sorry missed that!

But then we'd have multiple threads on the outrageous costs of these new HM rooms. That's the problem with fanboys, we want the good stuff but don't want to pony up the money for it...! :lookaroun :animwink:

We are headed to WDW in Sept and staying at CBR in a Pirate Room. CBR is NOT one of our favorites, but staying there just because my kids want to so badly -- they are DS7, DS4 and DS1 -- with the baby, this will be last chance to stay there without going to 2 rooms since we wil then be party of 5. Heck, I am all for these type of upgrades and theming at the different resorts. Makes them even that much more special -- otherwise, the moderate feel like an old Holiday Inn and the values feel like a Econo Lodge...

With regards to the CR, I am all in favor of making the deluxe resorts more "resort like" and Luxorious. Plus, the Deluxe will need to counter some of the high end resorts like the Four Seasons and such opening on property...

Sad day for this regular Riverside guest..... :(

We always enjoyed the laid back atmosphere...i have a feeling this will cut into that.

Honestly, I don't see how that would be possible. You really are going to have the same demographic at the resort, but now there will be people willing to pay a premium for a special room. It isn't like the resort was lacking in the princess loving little girl category before...now you just gave those families a reason to spend more money.

But your reasoning has deprived someone on the forum of something to complain about!

Wow, this is just the dumbest mish mash of theming. So the exterior theming is going to be southern looking, then you enter into this:

Disneys-Port-Orleans-Riverside_Full_13431.jpg

When you are in the bathroom, the faucets will be lamps from Aladdin :veryconfu and when you look out into the room you see this:

Disneys-Port-Orleans-Riverside_Full_13432.jpg

The bench dog from B&B, the rose from B&B, an golden apple that alludes to Snow White, Cogsworth, a portrait from Cinderella, another lamp from Aladdin, and a portrait of Princess Tiana.

This is not the disney theming that is respected, it is what you expect when a dad needs to design his daughter's room and there is a bunch of disney stuff in the clearance section.

If disney wanted to do a princess thing in PO, then have Tiana rooms in the FQ. Also, keep them only being Tiana and PatF themed.

Also there is a mouse hole for Jaq and Gus from Cinderella. Yes yes I am on board with this. :sohappy:

Selling those tossers a little short there, aren't you?

Yeah, I realize that no reasoning - no matter how sound - will ever prevent someone on the forum from complaining about something that was designed specifically for them. But I still dare to dream.

I haven't see these posted, but the original images that were in the survey are not the same that were posted on the blogs. The bedding and table/dresser is different with lack of a canopy and blue top to the table. As well as a lack of other princess memorabilia. Looks like now they just have pictures up of the princesses. Just thought I'd mention it.

Honestly, that's fairly gender-neutral in terms of decor, Princess pictures aside....

You could do that. Or you could do the "greatest hits" approach which is sure to please countless princess fans and make Disney lots of money.

If you don't like it, maybe it just wasn't meant for you. But it's sure to be popular with its target demo.

Well look at what they are doing for AA, it makes sense. They did not just make pixar rooms or disney renaissance rooms but buildings and rooms that are themed true to their source material.

I would be interested in staying in a resort that has a princess theme because I have a DD, but I am not going to stay at a sub standard themed hotel just because it is disney princesses.
