Princess themed rooms coming to Port Orleans Resort

I truely hope this is not the the Partaree Place building at POR. That is my favorite area and we are in that section just about every year. I dont see the need for them at POR as much as POFQ, as POR always seems to be the most packed (see DHS bus line at closing) and to me it ruins the whole backstory of the resort.

If you read the Orlando Sentinel article, they make an excellent point. Disney is concerned the Art of Animation Resort will cannibalize the moderates. Thus the need for speccialization.

I am wondering if all of the upgrades to the moderates will blur the lines between deluxe and moderate. The deluxe resorts will always have location over the moderates but the addition of queen beds to some of the moderates really does almost level the playing field when it comes to a straight room only comparison.

Hopefully the bar will be raised in the deluxe rooms also.

I have to think you are right.

My biggest two complaints about Port Orleans were the bus service and the small beds. Upgrading the beds to queens makes a huge difference in my book.

Perhaps the deluxes will need some kind of upgrade next.

I think the royal room looks great. I have 3 sons so I will never get to stay in one of them but it looks pretty.:)
I think it would probably fit in nicely in POR.

I agree about the complaints. We will never stay in a moderate again because of the horrible bus service we experienced at PORS. If we want to go cheap, we'll go Pop. If we want more luxury, we'll go deluxe. IMO I just don't see the mods as offering much over the values, but maybe this will change with themed rooms. Really looking forward to Art of Animation though.

I'm thinking more along the lines of the sentinel article and thinking that the problem would have been between moderate and value. Art of Animation looks nice, and in a different league than Pop and the All Stars. With those rooms being deemed value they need to do something to keep people in the moderates and not choosing between value and deluxe. I do think that you will see some changes to the deluxe resorts though, although I am not sure exactly what those could be as they have done some upgrades to make them more deluxe recently in terms of bedding and furnishings.

Last I heard the Mansion rooms were cut. Very sad.

I actually liked those the *least*. Maybe it's just me, but it was too plastic-y, garish, and over done with one or two set pieces that stand out and not an overall great experience. Thought different strokes for different folks.

What they need is a "Hollywood Tower Hotel".....

Pre-"Fateful Night", HTH rooms would be fantastic if they went all out on the period luxury look the attraction tries to capture. Not sure which hotel they could be placed in though.

As for the HM rooms, maybe they could lower the number made, up the quality and price and sell them to the die-hard fans who want them the most. I understand why they woudn't be made, but if the online reaction was any indication I'm sure a few (less than 10, or 5) could sell.

You know, thinking about it, I'm surprised Disney hasn't made a castle-y/fairy tale/princessy deluxe resort yet. CRT and Akershus are booked solid all the time, and they're just princess restaurants. Imagine how popular an entire princess resort would be... And they could have some awesome weddings there. :D

I would imagine that's it's cheaper per room for them to convert a lot (ie 500) than just 10 or so rooms. I'm sure the price would be higher on the furniture, decor, etc. if they're only creating pieces for such a small number of rooms!?!

Wow, this is just the dumbest mish mash of theming. So the exterior theming is going to be southern looking, then you enter into this:

princess1.jpg

When you are in the bathroom, the faucets will be lamps from Aladdin :veryconfu and when you look out into the room you see this:

princess2f.jpg

The bench dog from B&B, the rose from B&B, an golden apple that alludes to Snow White, Cogsworth, a portrait from Cinderella, another lamp from Aladdin, and a portrait of Princess Tiana.

This is not the disney theming that is respected, it is what you expect when a dad needs to design his daughter's room and there is a bunch of disney stuff in the clearance section.

If disney wanted to do a princess thing in PO, then have Tiana rooms in the FQ. Also, keep them only being Tiana and PatF themed.

You could do that. Or you could do the "greatest hits" approach which is sure to please countless princess fans and make Disney lots of money.

If you don't like it, maybe it just wasn't meant for you. But it's sure to be popular with its target demo.

Linens...I cannot stress enough how badly the deluxe resorts need to upgrade their linens.

Almost every high end hotel chain I've stayed at has a duvet and pillow top mattresses now (heck even Hampton Inns have them). The only resort at Disney that is on that level that I've seen is the new BLT.

They have their Disney at Home catalog in every room I've stayed in and I've always looked at it as a joke as what they advertise what you are sleeping on in the room is not what is in that catalog.

That would be ture, but also why I suggested charging a higher price to stay there. ;)
