Was the infamous Duffy Pic the last time? I doubt it, huh? That’s probably been like ten years at this point.

Oooh... I don't remember when that was. I think you're right though, It was before my last trip. The only reason I remember how long ago my last visit was is because it was the summer Paint the Night debuted.

Does anyone visit this often? I can't even imagine doing that.

Twice a month, 2 days. Oh yes.

I went at least once a week when reporting, and I presume many YouTubers do it a lot more tgan that.

Of course, a few folks go every day, or close to it. A small group, but bigger than you might think.

Knott's and Six Flags, with their meal plans probably have more doing it, since the award is higher. And Knott's has many who live within walking distance, just like Disneyland on the West End.

The average use of an AP/SP is about 10 times, with a large group at about 4 times. But then you see numbers at once a month, twice a month also. I am being vague due to nondisclosure issues, and discussing the industry in general.

But there are folks who use the parks as a babysitter. Drove by Knott's last night sometime after 7 PM (park closed at 8), and there was a line of cars on Beach waiting to pick folks up. And this is a common occurrence when we drive by in the evening. So easy 100+ visits a year.

Geez, five years since that thing debuted!? I never got to see that.
It’s been three years for us. I’m bound and determined to finally try beignets this time.

With the drive to SFMM, we go about 6 to 8 times, but then we are also visiting SFGA and SFDK this year, so the 10'ish a year.

On the other hand, we have been going to Knott's once or twice a week, mainly to grab a meal and/or get exercise by walking the park. I have noticed a few seniors in the mornings doing that. A safe place, the outer circle is about a mile in length, then grab lunch/see a show.

Add to that our second honeymoon trip back east with multiple days at Cedar Point, Kings Island and Dorney Park. Add to that a trip to the Bay Area and California Great America and Gilroy Gardens. I can see us getting close to 120+ visits. That makes our pass, parking and Meal Plan (one or two meals a visit) at around $3 per visit.

I have small children and I like to relax when I'm on vacation. I wouldn't be spending eight FULL days in the parks, but I might spend two full days, three half days, and three days where I only pop in for an hour or two, maybe for a meal, parade, or fireworks.

The pace wouldn't be my issue. It's the forced jollity and constant piped in music. I seriously don't know how Orlando-goers can handle their week-long vacations there.

The Disneyland beignets they sell in New Orleans Square out of that little counter by the train station, or the other beignets they sell at the sandwich counter at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney?

I actually prefer the Ralph Brennan's version, and since it's not at Disneyland the employees there are efficient.

This is unbelievable. Regulars multiple times a week? And multiple weeks too!

Do you respect these people or do they seem crazy to you? Were they friendly?

I once had an employee who I asked about where to sit to see Fantasmic, when he saw me scouting for a spot a half hour later he let me and my wife in to a reserved viewing area.

Left a very positive note for him at city hall (without saying exactly what he did as I didnt want to get him in trouble). 2 months later we see him and he recognizes us as well and we made sure to thank him again for what he did.

Besides this I can't think of any CM I've known or seen more than once. I think regulars on that frequency seem odd to me. Then again people think I'm crazy for visiting more than once a year.

The Andersons were annoying and very ridiculous at times, but they were nice for the most part. They’re nice and all, but a bit off sometimes. Some are on the spectrum, so they’re not off. It’s easy to tell who the looney ones are.

I can go twice in a row, but that’s it. And I need a break of at least a month before I return. When I was a kid, I could have gone to Disneyland every day and been very happy. Now as an adult, I have other interests. Working at the park definitely caused some permanent burnout.

"Hi. My name is Phrubruh and I am a member of Mouse Anonymous.
I say I am a member of Mouse Anonymous because I believe there is an important difference between being an annual passholder and being a member of Mouse Anonymous.

As an annual passholder, I could not stop going to Disneyland. Even when my doctor diagnosed me with Disney on the brain, I could not stop going to Disneyland. I admitted my after work trips were injurious, yet I knew, as right as the sun would rise tomorrow, I would enter Disneyland's gates again. I can’t stop going. This is the horror and hopelessness of being an annual passholder. Yet, here I am, as a member of Mouse Anonymous, many years without an annual pass! How is this possible if I be a Disney fan and everything in my experience tells me I will go again?

Well, I found a way out. By working the Twelve Step program as described in the Big Book of Mouse Anonymous and living in the disciplines of Steps 10, 11, and 12 everyday, I am able to remain, almost effortlessly, abstinent from going to Disneyland and all mind-altering changes TDA keeps making to the park! I have had many spiritual experiences due to the Twelve Step program and I now know how to live without an annual pass. The obsession to go to Disneyland has been removed. My progressive empting of my wallet on bad food and cheap merchandise has been arrested. My need to ride Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean has been put into remission. I have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body.

Yes, I've been free of the Mouse's influence since October of 2016 and I'm richer for it.”

You haven’t been in 10 years?
Yeah. Last few times I have been to cali has been for family funerals sadly. Used to go all the time before I moved from cali. Disneyland, Knotts, Magic Moutain were a big part of my life and childhood and early adulthood. When I moved the visits got fewer and far between. This year I promised and still am going to return and take my baby girl for her first visit ever but god d@@n man. All I want is 2 2 day park hoppers so we can do both parks for 2 days. Didnt realize I need a go fund me account to be able to afford tickets. I miss being able to take a random day trip from az to ca and go to Disney on a whim and go for under $100. No wonder Knotts was busier this summer than Disney. Knotts shows their audience they want their business. Dinsey only cares about the super rich.

Well being that you can drive and you’re only taking two people, I have confidence you can do it! Be diligent and save a little each month. I’m certainly not rich, but I’ve managed to fly myself, my wife and daughter to Disneyland a few times. It’s definitely a money pit, but I think with some sacrifice it can be done. I hope it works out for you, since Disneyland is clearly an important place to you (as it is for me).

If you live in the area I can't imagine you would pass up the opportunity for a Disneyland AP, and/or Knott's AP for that matter. Don't take it for granted folks, my local "amusement park", is Castles N Coasters, which is like comparing Detroit to Honolulu.

Don't put Detroit down. Ever since OCP took over city hall, Robocop has been cleaning up the town.

I too would easily take Disneyland and SoCal in general for parks over my local Six Flags (Great America) and the next closest major parks (both considerably better than SFGAm, naturally) being over five hours away.

That said, if I was being honest I would probably burn myself out on DL if I was that close. Familiarity breeding contempt and all...

Don't have the time to do all the research.

But if you compare the basic family of 4 needs of admission with not too many blockouts, parking for one car, and meals/drinks.

For $1,000 or so, Knott's, SFMM and SeaWorld will cover all three.

On the other hand, 4 Disneyland Flex Passes are $2,600, now you pay $25 a visit to park, plus buying meals and drinks.

You can see why many families are not buying DLR AP's and opting for other choices.

Heck, Boomers, Castle Park, Pacific Park, Aquarium of the Pacific and more options.

I live about 35 minutes away in Los Angeles and no longer have an annual pass. I don’t miss it, honestly.

It’s different when you live close by.

I can relate to what you're saying. I'd also imagine that being a former CM doesn't help.

Now that I really think about it, i'm getting tired of $hapek and Iger's Disneyland too and I don't even live there.

My favorite part about price increases are reading the commits of people acting like their rights as a human being are being taken away because their "Visit Disneyland Every Single Day" pass for their family of four is slightly more expensive.

And with most AP holders now paying $25 to park each visit, or use alternative transit. (The 43, 543, 86 and 460, and the Riverside bus look good now).

And MaxPass is $20 a day, of course, you don't need it.

Meals and drinks you don't sneak in.

Of course, the latest Popcorn Bucket.

That said, it really has never been cheap to visit the DLR. Yes, at the turn of the century, it was about $200 for a 2 park AP with no blockout dates and free parking. But back then, well, a better value, but still some money to buy.
