I mean, you can't be surprised by food/beverage increase. Any purchasable good really.

Have you been shopping lately? It's out of control. Everywhere, everything. I literally hear people almost yelling out loud in the grocery store at the prices, every time we shop.

Did anyone really think Disney would be immune?
Today at LIDL I got:
gallon skim milk $1.84
can beans each $0.58
dozen "cage" free eggs $3.29
12 grain bread loaf $2.09
dark chocolate bar $1.00
avocado salad kit just because $3.79
etc

I mean not too bad, but I understand it's been a little nuts in other stores.

That's great for you! Truly! Prices over here aren't so great.

I just checked the McDonald's app.

A McDouble is $3.29. A Big Mac is $6.99. Not for the meal, for the sandwich.
You are living in the wrong place. :)

I can buy my McDouble for $2.39 and I don't eat Big Macs but they are $5.28. However, there is usually an app deal where you can get a medium size Big Mac, Crispy Chicken or Quarter Pounder meal for $6.

You know why? Because Disney's annual gross profit at the end of June 2022 was $28 billion. BILLION. Their annual gross profit in 2021 was $22 billion. CM's still don't make a living wage, things are being cut left and right, maintenance is non-existent, prices of everything (resorts, food, merch, tickets) are continually increasing.

WHEN IS ENOUGH ENOUGH?
Enough is never enough. America. Capitalism. Blah blah blah. Your choice is to partake of their business or not, and not to tell them what they can charge because you think it's "enough." I guarantee you they had some making up to do in the profit department after covid and after significant wage increases, whether or not they meet your arbitrary standard. They still went up and that has to be paid for.

Now, they could say, "Hey, we'll just make less profit" and their stock will likely tank and affect the entire company, investments, employees, etc. They are a publicly traded company. Failure is not an option. Lower profits = failure. The system may suck, but they can't change the system. That's on us (government by the people.)

But you're talking about gross income, which doesn't mean a whole lot. Here's net before and through much of the worst of covid:

  • Disney annual net income for 2021 was $1.995B, a 169.66% decline from 2020.
  • Disney annual net income for 2020 was $-2.864B, a 125.91% decline from 2019.
  • Disney annual net income for 2019 was $11.054B, a 12.26% decline from 2018.
They're improving now, but you can't just ignore those years of losses. Do you ever want a new movie or attraction again?

  • Disney net income for the twelve months ending June 30, 2022 was $3.142B, a 179.04% increase year-over-year.
This is how the real world works, not what everyone on the internet "thinks" it "should" be.

Cue disgruntled guffaws because Roy could make it work for Walt back when you could buy a house for less than half the price of a car today. It will never be like that again. Nothing ever will. Take all the improvements we've made since then and weigh it against your idea of what was ideal back then.

Anyone know if the price of these went up?

Mickey Ice Cream bar (was $6.25)
Bottle of Coke (was $5)
$6.25? Wow, that Halloween party a couple of years ago was an even better value than I thought! ;) :p
Precisely! When people say thanks but no thanks and go somewhere else to get their amusement park fix. Until there is an impact to the bottom-line Disney management will not care.

Waiting for that day like...

Bottled water is up $.25, Fountain drinks are up $.30 and many food prices have gone up. Pricing at some restaurants like Tusker House are up $4 for adults and $2 for kids.
At this rate, they're going to need digital displays for the pricing at food carts just to keep up with the way things change.

Actually, I'm sure variable pricing on a bottle of water tied to the heat index of each day has already been discussed.

For every family that says enough us enough, there is 10 families who just up their credit limit and keep swiping....until that changes this greed and "pay more get less" Moto of the current short sited, one dimensional and talentless exec board won't stop this current path.

It's the sad heartbreaking reality of the company that shaped the best memories of my life growing up 💔

Which includes you too.

What you fail to account for is that the real revenue generating part of The Walt Disney Company is Parks and Resorts, definitely not streaming or studios. Parks and Resorts is at the end of the day a hospitality segment. Their product is reliant on happy and repeat guests. They are the backstop against the looming land mine that is Disney +.

How sustainable do you think this is? At what point do you does it all collapse down upon itself?

"Oh yeah? We can price comparable things higher than that!" 😂
Yes - dont give Disney a challenge to out price them! They are the champs!

We have already decided not to go back to WDW in 2023.
We have "make good" park hopper passes and had pre-booked DVCs to follow our cruise in the spring. We've since cancelled the cruise, are keeping the DVC reservation, and vacationing elsewhere in lieu of the cruise. We're using our free park hoppers for that trip and no other plans on the horizon.

I want to make it very clear ~ I am not priced out. I can easily pay the increased prices, if I wanted to. The difference is, I don't want to any longer.

Let me know when the great predicted slide begins.

Better yet, let me know when the slide begins, they offer a discounted ticket, and it doesn't work.

There are miles and miles of wiggle room. They haven't even hit the ceiling yet.

Oh…you are very wrong there.

Nothing going on In this country with prices is “sustainable” longterm. It’s getting close to redline unless banks start giving out more credit with little hope for payment on it.

And wdw absolutely will suffer and likely much more than before because of what the Bobs have rigged.

The myth of wdw customer wealth is largely just that.
